The location couldn't be more central, the room spacious and clean. But it's the friendly proprietor, whose English is fluent, who goes out of his way to make you feel like family. Home cooked breakfast, reams of advice on sightseeing and dining, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere make the Renaissance hands-down your first choice.

My wife is from Plovdiv and this is the place we stay when visiting her family. See my other 3 reviews. We would not stay anywhere else in Plovdiv. I've stayed at other hotels over time and have seen them deteriorate due to poor maintenance. This is not the case here - the intricate painting has been refreshed - no...

We visit Plovdiv frequently and always stay at this hotel. Terrific location, friendly and warm welcome any time of say or night, wonderful rooms. Dimitar will treat you like family. Speaks excellent English, very knowledgeable about history, tourism, economics and just about everything else you wish to discuss with him. The rooms are very unique, in a traditional Bulgarian Renaissance...

Antique style new and perfectly done, small family hotel. Beautiful, large rooms with hand made drawings and wooden details. Unique experience, very romantic and quiet, perfect location and absolutely lovely staff ! There is no better place to stay in the Old town of Plovdiv, we'll deffinitely visit it again !

This is a lovely little hotel built into an old house right on the edge of the old city of Plovdiv. The rooms are in Bulgarian style and each one is different. There's parking right in front and once you're there there's no need to drive because everything is within easy walking distance. What really set this hotel apart for...

Dimitar was over the top! Treated us like family. He gave us tips on what to see in Plovdiv with our limited time, arranged to have our laundry done, made us a homemade breakfast every morning, and reserved our bus ticket to Istanbul on a fully booked bus. He even provided us s written note to the bus company when...

Very nice place and friendly manager. Room was very well appointed, and quiet. Good WiFi and good a/c. Breakfast was a typical Bulgarian breakfast, which I did not care for. The Italians in the next table had an American Breakfast which I wished I could have had. Otherwise, a neat place.

Great hotel / restaurant (duck lungs anyone? yum!) welcoming host; great location steps away from old Plovdiv and its main pedestrian / shopping street; different breakfast every day; rooms comfortable; couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy Plovdiv

Closed to the city center and the main touristic attraction of Plodviv, this (in my opinion) is the hotel to choose if you’re visiting this town. We had the luxury room on the 1st floor: practically a double room, furnished with antique furniture scenting of bee grease. Just in front of the hotel you had you’ve private parking spot, under...

I stayed at Hotel Renaissance Plovdiv for 3 nights in July 2015. When I arrived late at night off the train from Veliko Tarnovo, the night porter (who doesn't speak English) was on duty, but he immediately called the manager/owner Dimitar on his mobile and passed him to me for a personal word of welcome (in excellent English!) and an...
