Nice British, Asian-Colonial furnishing, Very nice and professional staff. We deduct one point due to way too the A/C which was soooooo cold. Even after turning off the A/C in the room, the room was still a freezer the next morning. Lobby and Restaurants are also way too cold. We prefered sitting outside and fighting the mosquitos.

For 15$ plus tax we spent the day by the pool at the resort - well worth the dollars! The service was very good and the food appetising. After spending time walking and sightseeing in 40 degrees, it was wonderful to sit on a sun lounger and take a dip in the cooling water.

For supposedly the best hotel in Mandalay very disappointing that toilet in our room did not flush even after 5 attempts by staff to remedy the problem. Service and food in casual restaurant was very good as was the pool, but rooms are tired

We were there for two nights with a group before boarding the Irrawaddy Explorer. The rooms were the biggest disappointment, at least ours. The furnishings looked as if they were ordered out of a catalogue and had neither charm nor quality...sort of motel style. The bathroom needs updates: cracked tiles, dirty grout. The public rooms are nice enough as was...

Overall this is a very good hotel. Due to the hotel being an arc shape the rooms are a bit quirky. They are tight for space at the door, wardrobes and entrance to the bathroom and then it gets wider at the bed to the window, but with some dead space after the bed. It was by no means a...

We stayed here for two nights before taking the boat down to Bagan. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel stands in some lovely grounds with a very nice pool. Throughout the main season they run a 'cultural evening' in the gardens with a puppet show and dancing and barbeque. Not my thing usually but this was...

We spent three nights at the Mandalay Hill Resort. The Hotel is comfortable but quite impersonal. Definitely some TLC needed. The rooms are standard size, but with very small bathroom. The lifts are not set properly and consequently take ages to arrive! The Buffet meal in the evening is ok - a shame they have no plate warmers as with...

We stayed here for 3 nights before we headed off on a tour. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We wanted to buy a tourist SIM and they sent a taxi out for us to buy the SIM for 2,000 kyat one evening, we would happily have gone but it was all...

When Accor (Novotel) pulled out because of the unrest, it left behind what must have been an acceptable hotel and this remains the case as far as standards go for Burma. The food is ok, but pretty pricey ($41 for buffet). Happy hour is a nice gesture though you have to have two of the same drink, no mix and...
