Bedrooms and foyer overrun with mosquitoes, this would be particularly hazardous in Dengue season. Customer service is limited. When I first stayed at Mandalay Swan, some ten years ago, I felt it was unexceptional and wallowing in averageness. On a recent visit I was struck by how they have maintained that tradition of mediocrity.

Well, the breakfast was fine, and the bed was OK. But the room was just adequate -- poor enough that some members of our tour group went elsewhere. A few items: small, narrow room; shoddy linens; threadbare furnishings; noisy A/C.
