A b s o l u t e l y excellent ! Indeed! If you look into my profile you will probably see I am not lenient at all, giving away credit. Especially when room rates are high and comfort quality stars are being too easily boasted and quite audaciously asked of. We stayed for a couple of nights in...

A classic style hotel, very clean and confortable. Central but quiet site (in a lateral, small road: no traffic noise!). Nice rooms, very clean, with a good service. Beautiful swimming pool, not very large but agreable after a long sightseeing journey. Free cocktails at 6 P.M. Good restaurant with different menu options. Staff very gently.

My stay here was a very pleasant experience, personally I rate it as very good at least. The hotel was a mixture of comfort and traditional touches, the surroundings were quite spectacular and everything was accessible and pleasant. Magical and beautiful and pleasant and totally recommended!

Where to start,hm.....everything was magical from start till the end. The only part which we disliked was when we were leaving. We stayed for a week and what a week it was !!!! We were greeted with a complimentary sparkling wine which was splendid. Needless to say the food was of exceptional quality, very diverse and tasteful. Please pass again...

We stayed four nights and really enjoyed the stay. Great location to cycle to the landmarks. Good rooms but most of all staff were very helpful in helping us organize the rest of our myanmar trip for the family. Special mention to Phyo.

After a hot day sightseeing a lovely oasis to come back to. Delightful gardens and public areas. The room lovely too. A lovely little veranda to sit outside. I was next to the entrance but not bothered! A little stream running past me. Award winning restaurant specialising in Indian food. You can see the chef cooking. Great breakfast choice too....

Years back when I visited Myanmar, I met there my lovely wife. We both loved travelling in exotic destinations. Years later, when we got married we went back to Myanmar for our honeymoon. Of course we looked for something more romantic and luxurious than our backpack trip back then. After doing some internet research we found the Red canal boutique...

Staff were extremely helpful. In particular, Pyae Phyo was exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond what could be expected. I had the flu and they helped me with chicken soup and even gave me a lift to the doctor. It's not fun being sick in a foreign country whose language you don't speak so I appreciated the help very...

Lovely boutique hotel, with lovely touches such as iced lime water always available in public areas, great restaurant on site, the Indian food is truly some of the best we have tasted in years, but we were disappointed with the rooms, not as we had hoped, we had the room with the jacuzzi but it was a tiny room and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An oasis by the landmark Red Canal in local folklore just minutes from the famed Mandalay Palace and other attractions, The Hotel by the Red Canal is a convenient sanctuary, with its lush tropical greenery and calming water features, amidst the hustle and bustle of Myanmar's cultural city. “By choosing to stay with us, we will provide you with the extra measure of quality, comfort and personal convenience that you are looking for. Being small, we are able to provide personal attention to the needs, wants, and expectations of every guest.” The boutique-style hotel is a celebration of all things Myanmar, featuring teak furniture and fixtures & fittings made from rattan, mother-of-pearl and other local materials as well as Myanmar marble lining the bathroom walls. Each of the 4 types of guestrooms or customized suites, differentiated by individual style, bears the name of the major ethnic groups in multi-cultural Myanmar and is adorned with rich traditional paraphernalia and trappings reflecting their respective cultural heritage. All Chin and Shan suites feature a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and garden green. Ground floor Chin suites enjoy a “water moat”. The Rakhine suites are spacious and ideal for the business traveler. An outdoor shower with a slate wall of cascading water is the highlight of the honeymooner Kachin suites. ... more   less
