1 night was enough! Very cheap and good to meet people but the dorm, showers and toilets were filthy! My bed linen clearly wasn't washed as it was full of dirty yellow stains! No keys or locks on doors so no security for your belongings!

I stayed here for 2 nights in one of the downstairs dorms. Beds were not very clean as the sheets had marks of blood on them. Also having unpacked and put all my stuff on my bed, I came back one night to find someone sleeping in my bed; they had been told that the bed was free despite the... More

The hostel is located in a old building with high walls and spacious rooms, a bit of from the touristy main part of Luang Prabang, but that still means only a 5 minutes walk to get to the daily nightmarket. It has a nice balcony which serves as chillout area as well as campfire below. Hence it's very easy to... More

Although well situated, the safety of this hostel is not very good. Twice during my stay did a local guy walk into some rooms and went through people's bags. The staff never even noticed till people complained. And there's no doors, only curtains instead. There some rough looking lockers. Also it's not very organized. We did meet some great people... Spicy Laos is definitely value for money. You don't pay a lot so can't possibly expect the highest standards of facilities. What you do get is a decent bed, decent bathroom, plenty of spots around the hostel to chill but also the hostel's close proximity to the city centre. You also get opportunity to meet great people. My friend and... More

They would double-book the dorm beds, so when I came back at night there was somebody sleeping in my bed and had thrown my stuff on the floor. I asked the staff about it, they didn't care and were very rude. It also happened to several friends that were staying at the same place. The hostel itself looks nice and... More

I stayed 3 nights at the Spicy Laos Hostel in Luang Prabang. 35,000 kip for dorm room with a/c, 25,000 kip for dorm room with no a/c (just a central oscillating fan). Free drinking water. No breakfast included. Good location. Owner has a professional sound system and plays good music a lot, but not late and it is not a... More

As there are no many possibilities for backpackers wishing to stay in dorms this was my choice. You will have what you paid for...and you don't have to pay a lot. Don't expect super clean bathrooms and new mattresses! Even the wifi is quite weak. But the personnel is friendly and offering good prices for tickets, you can refill your... More

Pretty good for meeting people, but other than that.. Gross. It's very dirty, the room I was in didn't even have windows, just a hole in the wall. The bathroom was also disgusting and it didn't look like the bed sheets had even been changed. I actually changed to another hostel after one night I hated it here that much.

Stayed here as a solo traveler in one of the mixed dorms, after recommendations from other travelers. It really is a social place with music and people at all hours in the communal areas. This place was really great for meeting people as it has plenty of casual sitting areas, a ping-pong table and a movie room with DVDS. On... More
