To be honest - I don't know where you saw the "five" maybe it has to do with an older comment. Me and my wife have been over a long time frequent customers there, also brought our guests to stay. We'd a longer break we didn't visit the Hotel and so we've been really surprised about all the more negative changes. There have been more personal things we haven't been happy with - f. e. most of the staff we'd known and felt good with had left - as far we heard they're involved in building up a new Resort on the other side of the Mekhong. There have been other - temporary aspects - such like the different construction areas. But there have been also smaller and bigger things we didn't like anymore. Former owners invested a lot of work in the car of plants and pathes in the garden - which had been gone completly. Entering a room there always have been fresh flowers and some fruit - so there was a Gerbera changed into a musty straw flower after our four days stay - don't ask how the bananas looked like.
Other things have been more important - so the door of the shower cabin where some small, easy to change plastic parts had been broken and nobody took care - same like musty corners in the bathroom. What really made me feel sad have been the conditions of the buildings - where roof tiles had been broken - the straw at the REstaurant Pavillion was partly gone etc.. Maybe they have been on the way to change all this - everything might have been planned to become renovated - but they charged us a relatively high price even it was "off-season" - so you might imagine why we haven't been such happy about what was offered to us while staying.
