Arriving, I was told 'no room' despite booking and guaranteeing payment. After 10 or so minutes of assertiveness and refusing to go away, I was told my room was available after all. It had clearly been prepared but then used since cleaning, so I think the hotel staffer was running some sort of scam. The room was very pleasant, in... More

I stayed here for 4 nights, as it had a lot going for it. Central but very quiet, nice balcony, friendly staff, free tea & coffee, a large, very clean room where everything appeared fairly new. But the best was the mattress/bed - a nice soft one, unlike most that you find in Asia. That was worth some extra $.

We saw Phounsab Guesthouse on the main street after coming back from a hiking expedition and decided to check it out. The location is excellent - it's right near Phousi, the Royal Palace, the Night Market, and numerous restaurants/massage spots/tour companies. We were shown a back-facing room in the building closer to the road, and found it to be clean,... More

this was the only place we could find as soon as we got to luang and they only had a room for one night which was enough.we found it expensive at $40 as we moved to the matata bungalows the next day for the same price.the room was upstairs at the back so was quiet and the balcony was nice... More

After an overnight seated bus from Vientiane(thunderstorms, rain, fallen trees, breakdown, morning mists), followed by a short ride in an open taxi I arrived here at just after six in the morning. I just expected to be able to leave my bag but my room was ready, shown the way to the back building and left to myself to shower... More

The room was clean and comfy and you had plenty of room. Good bathroom and shower. Wifi didn't work much in the room but there were chairs just outside where it worked fine. Free tea and coffee available anytime. If you like it white, grab a mini carton of milk from the shop across the road and keep it in... More

What a beautiful guesthouse in a beautiful place in the world. This family owned place was amazing. The service was fantastic, the rooms wonderful, the location excellent and the price was incredible.$50 per night US inc breakfast in Feb 2012. I just cannot speak highly enough of this hotel which is in the Main Street next to the night markets... More

This is one of those rare times where the actual product is nicer than the pictures! My entire stay all the staff were extremely friendly and willing to help. When they first walked me up to my room, I immediately noticed the nice patio area just off the room, and was very impressed by how spotless the room was ...this... More

We had a choice of a $40/night room on the bottom floor but chose the $25/night room without the fridge and tv on the second floor and were very happy - room number 2. (there was a fridge in the hallway that we used and that worked for us) Despite being right on the busy street of restaurants and tour... More

The place is ok, but why would you pay double the amount you can pay elsewhere?. I stayed there one night, I moved out the next morning because in the building next to the guesthouse there were people talking loud all night until 4 AM. The first place I found (Lao Lu Guesthouse) was much nicer than Phounsab and the... More
