The hotel is very nice and quiet. They keep the original old and traditional buiding as well as surrounding environments of nature. Beautiful garden, nice staff. Since the building is quite old, buid up by wood, there have a noisy when we walked in room/hotel building. However I love this hotel and will find chance to come back again.

My wife & I and three other couples stayed at the Grand in March of this year. We found the hotel to be 'tired' and in need of some TLC, which could be quite expensive. We enjoyed our three nights as the ambiance of colonialism added to the charm. The gardens and position of the hotel overlooking the Mekong River...

Greeted on arrival by driver with a cold water and towel. First impressions of the hotel was run down. Check in was swift and efficeint. Room spacious and comfortable, while the bed was firm it was the most comfortable of our stay. We chose the hotel due to its riverside location and the pool. The location delivered. The pool while...

We are frequent travelers in the region and used to all kind of accomodation, from guest houses to luxury hotels. At the Grand, we found a very special ''outmoded'' atmosphere with a definite charm, very far from the chain/design types of properties which are sometimes so cold and sterilized. It is true that some amenities are a bit outdated and...

We stayed at this resort for 5 days and absolutely loved it. I can understand though, how this hotel would not be the best choice for all. I think it is more suited to older people, or people with families who appreciate space. I was travelling with parents (late 70's, myself and an 8 year old). What made this hotel...

Great views of the Mekong, very quiet and tranquil place in comparison to staying in town. No roosters waking you up! The rooms were big as were the beds (we had king size, it was massive!). The gardens were very well kept with lots of colour. For the cost - about £70 you could get better value in LP, The...

after i read all the reviews, i thought this hotel would be a good bet. but the first disappointment was the shuttle to pick us up at the airport( it is very old). the hotel's location is about 4km away from the city, which is not so bad except that the shuttle schedule is not convenient. there are frequent one...

Had a really relaxing few days at this hotel, the location, right on the edge of the Mekong, is unbeatable in Luang Prabang - breakfast is served overlooking the river and if you manage to get up early enough, it's still misty and cool. Our room wasn't much to write home about, but was perfectly adequate - it was a...

The location is a tradeoff, the absolute riverfront location & Mekong views from my room means staying about 4 km (10 mins) bu Tuk-Tuk from the town centre. I think it was worth it but it does make it inconvienent if you just need to duck into town for a few minutes. It is on the way to the waterfall/tribal...

I stayed at the Grand with my husband and two young children in June 2009 for 10 days and experienced wonderful Lao hospitality. The hotel room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The manager (who I believe was Thai) was always mindful of our comforts and was so kind to move us from an already fantastic room to an even...
