We are a gay couple who visited Luang Prabang. Firstly, there was a mix-up with the taxi at the airport picking us up. From then on, the staff at the guesthouse were extremely unhelpful and rude. We requested an upstairs room, but due to a lot of bookings (don't know why!) we had the room downstairs next to the reception....

The guest house is a bit worn down, and the price is on the rather high end for the standard offered (I was charged 40 USD per night for a single room upstairs). The bathroom was improvised (an open roof solution into the bed room, the bathroom floor was leveled with no real darin, so every time you take a...

At $50 US per night the Sayo River Guesthouse is not a great deal in Lao terms. Having said that we did stay there for three nights, had no problems with our stay and the location was quiet and we had a good view of the river from the little balcony out front of our room. The room itself was...

Aussie friends recommended Sayo River Guest House and we weren’t disappointed. In fact there were quite a few other Australians there when we stayed – but this wasn’t a bad thing! The room was a little cramped for 4 of us, but as we spent most of our time when in the room lying on our beds gasping because of...

huge room and bathroom with big bath - both clean. owners/staff had nothing going for them. the real problem with the place is that it had no atmosphere or character whatsoever and it wasn't particularly cheap. its main good point is that its right on the river.

We came looking for rooms after a one night, terrible stay in Rattana guesthouse. We looked at a lot of places- 3 Nagas (nice but at $190 per night much more than we wanted to pay), Apsara (our room at Sayo was larger & better, and theirs was over $100USD per night), Mekong Riverview (very nice rooms, we met the...

had nice stayed in both of sayo guesthouses: sayo xiang mouane and sayo river. the last one, got the wooden floor [sometimes that i like most from an old house] and the first one, situated pretty close to wat xiang mouane, so it's a strategic place to mingle with locals in attending monks' morning alms. but got the last one...

This is a quiet and well run hotel, although a little on the expensive side. It appears to be two large houses converted into individual rooms. For $US30 we got a basement room at Sayo Naga with 1 window, very poor ventilation and no balcony or ourdoor seating area. But the bathroom looked like it had never been used. There...

I attempted to stay at the Sayo River. Its hard for me to actually review this place as, despite having a written confirmation of my reservation for an upstairs room with a balcony, when I arrived, after a day long bus journey, they pretended the reservation didn't exist. They didnt offer a different room. They pretended I'd never made the...
