The rooms are not a luxurious place to stay and the rooms and bathrooms are dated but clean with plenty of hot water and decent plumbing. The property however is stunning, located in a small valley and rich in history. The communal areas are definitely luxurious, warm and inviting. The dining room is beautiful and food delicious. Only wish the coffee was fresh vs instant but everything else was great. We were not expecting such a wonderful place!

Stayed here 1 night. The room is spacious, clean and very cozy. This is a very well preserved property with items of the previous owner still intact. Such as the old books and the bedroom. Enjoyed the short guided tour around the Hacienda. Food was nice and service great. Was able to do a bit of star gazing as well.

Together with friends, I had the pleasure of receiving a private tour of the Cayara Hacienda, its museum, surrounding grounds and gardens as well as the historic electricity generating plant and dairy. We also stayed for a charming lunch prepared with local products such as trout and homemade ice cream. What an enjoyable way to steep yourself into the rich history of Potosi!

This place is a gorgeous 15 th century hacienda, very well maintained, most of it is a museum that you stay in ! The staff is very friendly , kind and professional. Fanny gave us a beautiful tour of the working farm and the 100 years old hydroelectric plant which provides electricity all around. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable, meals are good . The ride to Potosi, 30 mns, is beautiful and there is always a taxi around. This stop on our way to Uyuni turned out to be one of our best memory of Bolivia. Wish we can go back one day!

Stayed one night as part of a GAdventure tour. Located in a green valley forty minutes outside Potosi, Cayara provides a unique opportunity to experience a working hacienda whose roots go back to the colonial period. Part inn and part museum, the rooms are individualized and well furnished. Comfortable, clean, and welcoming, the one thing Cayara lacks is WiFi because of its relative remoteness. Our bathroom was a bit dated, but the plumbing worked and there was plenty of hot water. The evening meal and breakfast were good, and the owners provided a tour of the property and explained the hacienda’s historic importance. A bit remote, but for those traveling at a slower pace, the property provides an excellent base for exploring Potosi and the Altiplano.

The drive out from Potosi is beautiful and suddenly you are in this 15th century working farm and dairy. A true Spanish hacienda with really nice accommodations around a central courtyard. Nice walks around the property. A fire to gather round in the evenings. Delicious food. But best surprise is the "museum", which are really rooms in the house dating back a few centuries. Don't miss this.

We just spent 2 nights at the Hacienda Cayara. What an incredible place! It was begun in the mid 16th century, maintained, enlarged, and restored with love and respect. It is a 45 minute drive from Potosí, but the rural peace and quiet is a wonderful contrast to Potosí. The rooms are not fancy, but comfortable. There is a TV in the dining room and internet in the dining room and in the reception. Every night we sat in comfortable chairs in the living room and read our books in front of a fire. David, the man in charge of the hotel, was wonderfully attentive and helpful. He has also done the restauration work in the chapel! The dinners were delicious home cooking. We never had breakfast because we were out of the hotel by 6:45 each morning. Staying here was like staying in an ancestral home rather than a fancy boutique hotel. It exudes history and great pride in hospitality.…

I can't begin to explain how this wonderful establishment came to be so long ago, and so isolated....even today, its not easy to get to. It is a real Spanish Hacienda, and the furniture, and buildings are not only unique, but well cared for too. We had a BBQ dinner the night we arrived, and it was superb! The next day was taken up partly with a visit to the Potosi silver mine, before heading off to Uyuni, the salt lakes. We really enjoyed this place.

This hacienda is a real find: an usual place with a fantastic museum. The hacienda is well managed by a few people and is the result of the passion of its owner who unfortunately does not live at the hacienda anymore. The food was good, the service pleasant and it was nice to discover a fertile valley so close to Potosi. Another added benefit: the hacienda is much lower than Potosi with good clean air so much better for breathing and for those who have altitude sickness!

We had high hopes for this hotel given the reviews. However the hotel was a massive disappointment particularly given the prices charged and after coming from Salar Uyuni. The service was poor, the food terrible and served cold, and the rooms were basic. Unfortunately we arrived when the staff seemed to be in the middle of spring cleaning and the crowd of people cleaning rugs outside our hotel room window prevented us from being able to relax in a place that is meant to provide peace and quiet. The tv blaring in the dining room was just a further irritation. The hotel ridiculously over-charged for everything given the quality - food, beer etc. We ended up leaving early.
