Being nervous to travel but needing to, I was very impressed with the Covid measures this property has taken - limited amount of people allowed in the pool area, front desk has a plastic shield and the attendant and all other employees have been wearing a mask every time I’ve seen them.
The free breakfast was what I was most impressed with. Every item was individually packaged - fruit, bread, bagels, etc were all in individual bags. There were tongs and other utensils available for use everywhere. Everything was spread out enough so that too many people did not have to be in one area at a time. As soon as anyone left the breakfast room, the attendant came in with a mask and gloves and sanitation spray and wiped down their table and any area around that was not populated with people.
They are definitely taking every measure that they can to protect their guests and staff, and it has eased my mind so much on my trip.
There is some very light construction going on, but the only place I noticed it was the hallways. They look like they got a fresh coat of paint, and they are replacing the mounding or something down the halls. No noise, no bother, no construction smells.
I would definitely return here the next time I visit upstate! Thanks so much for keeping folks safe and for keeping my anxiety levels lowered at the same time!

This was one of the rare times we have stayed in a Days Inn (usually we opt for Choice brand hotels) and it was because of the good ratings and the lack of a Choice hotel near. The reviews were right on, and we were very pleased with our room and the cleanliness everywhere. This was an excellent value, given that we'd paid $50 more for an equivalent room further north. The only downside was the loud slamming as room doors closed down the hall, and you could easily hear this throughout our room. Front desk service was friendly enough and helpful.

This was a very clean place. The pool was open😁no hot tub🙁. Good continental breakfast. Problem: If you need a handicapped room, which we did, the beds are so high my 89 year old mother can’t get in. We made it work by taking the bed off the frame and lowering it. The bed was extremely comfortable just set the box spring and mattress on the floor.

This hotel selected for a family gathering because of location and pool for the small children in family. Pool was too cold to swim (staff said 70, but could have been colder) and pool room not warm enough to offset such cold in winter. This temp is way too cold for small children. One of the rooms didn't have heat. While the tiredness of rooms can be overlooked (generally clean), the willingness of hotel to compromise on a key feature for any family with children can not be overlooked. I do not generally provide reviews that are poor but the pool temp is something that can be easily fixed.

We were charged an extra $20 to check in early (2 hours), the room smelled musty, the air conditioner barely worked and we were told there weren’t any extra blankets because they were booked—odd that there were only about 10 cars in the lot if they were full. The indoor pool smells toxic and you can’t even breathe because of the noxious chlorine smell and lack of ventilation. Definitely disappointed and not worth it! Can’t tell about the breakfast because we checked in today.

The rooms are not connected to the lobby. You will have to drive or walk to the lobby from your room or vice versa. I was given only one key although I asked for one for my son who was staying with me. My son had to go back to the lobby to request his key. The outside entrance going to the rooms was unlocked (I didn't need my key to get in) when I arrived after 11 PM. This made me feel slightly unsafe. The breakfast menu had no protein options rather plenty of carbs. I decided to make myself a bowl of instant oatmeal. When microwaving my oatmeal, it spilled all over the microwave despite following the package directions. I told the staff who displayed noticeable disgust with me. Yes, the price is cheaper to stay here, but I guess you get what you paid for.

We brought 2 youth hockey teams, total of 30 players and families. There was another hockey team from the UP at the hotel, and not once did we run out of food at breakfast or towels at the pool. Staff was friendly and curtious and very accommodating for the team.
We used the banquet room for a huge team dinner and worked really well.
Would definitely stay here again for a tournament.

I booked my room through a third party booking and when I arrived they took a card to “charge for incidentals”. They said they would place a hold on the account and it would drop off later. I asked the next morning when I checked out about the 118.89 charge that was placed on my account. The response was “it will drop off”. I said it looked like it was a night’s charge not an incidental charge. I literally stayed there for less than 12 hours and left the room as clean as when I came in AND had paid for the room via hotels.com and had paid $140 for the night. The people at the front desk acted like they didn’t care or didn’t know what they were doing. The charge NEVER came off so I ended up paying close to $260 for ONE night! I disputed the charges and they won’t back down. Don’t stay here. They don’t know what they are doing and they don’t care about screwing people over.

We do ask for a credit card for incidentals. That is anything above room & tax.. Damage, room smoked in, etc. It normally takes 3 to 5 business days for the charge to drop off. But it is up to your financial institution before it gets dropped off

The Good- Housekeeping was good about checking daily. Beds were comfortable enough. The Bad- AC made room stink. Television was small and you could barely hear it. Furniture was cheap and poorly designed it blocked the closet and you could not get into it. No Comfortable place to sit just a cheap desk chair. Floor was gritty the day we arrived felt like it had not been mopped for quite some time. Would not recommend for vacationers.

Upon arrival you will meet Marcus the general manager genuinely friendly and outgoing individual who make sure you get everything you need and handle things with a personal touch. As a driver....it's hard to get around. Marcus heard us trying to get uber .... He insisted on driving us personally.

The Days Inn of Alpena is a Dog friendly hotel. we do ask that dogs are not left alone in the guest room, please keep on a leash when in public areas and clean up after you pet, sorry for sanitary reasons dogs are not permitted in the breakfast room or the pool area, and they are either in a crate or out of the guest room while our housekeeping staff is in tidying up your room.
The Days Inn of Alpena welcomes dogs of all sizes and breads, we just ask them and their traveling companions to be courteous of other guests.
there is a $10.00 pet fee added to your guest bill per night for dog(s) that travel with their humans.
