Detailed Reviews
Due to cancelled flights, we unexpectedly found ourselves guests at Hotel LP Santa Cruz Centro. We only had a few pm hours and the evening but the hotel and staff made our trip very special.
We were upgraded to a suite and when we told them we wanted to experience Bolivian food they arranged a return taxi as well as advised of the best place to go during our short stay, La Case del Campo. An excellent restaurant where we had their mini buffet for two, about 12 dishes, but go there hungry. The local Bolivian beer slipped down a treat and we had an excellent evening. A huge thank you to Daniel and to Amparo for all that they did and it has opened our eyes to another Such American country that we should visit for longer.

We stayed at LP Santa Cruz (across the stadium - I mention this because our taxi driver said that there are two LP hotels in Santa Cruz) on the last day of a two-week tour of Bolivia. It was the best hotel of the entire trip - clean, spacious, and modern room in a neighborhood setting. The staff was very helpful (although limited English - a fellow guest helped me out when I needed help). Highly recommend!
A note: Generally, breakfast is included when one books a hotel in Bolivia; we booked through Hotels.com, and breakfast, although available, was not included in the room price. I'm not sure whether this is standard for Hotels.com bookings or was an anomoly of this particular hotel. But, in any event, the breakfast was very good and inexpensive.

The hotel is fairly basic and doesn't have a very warm decor. I'm not sure the cold, clinical look and feel of the hotel was a consequence of not having the money to dress it up a little or because they had a bad interior designer. The manager likes to call the look "minimalist," I would call it stark and unappealing.
My main problem with the hotel, like the headline of this post says, is that it's not close to anything in SC and it's in a pretty tawdry part of town. There is a football stadium of some sort across the street.
I went out quite a few times while there and every single time upon returning to the hotel, the taxi driver had a hard time finding the hotel even though I had the street address written on a piece of paper (and I speak Spanish). Although the hotel's business card was available at the front desk complete with a city map and location printed on the back side, the map was for the hotel's other property in La Paz! I didn't realize this until I had already left the hotel one evening with the card and was preparing to return after a long night in town.
On the bright side, the price was right and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. But I probably won't stay there again. I'm pretty much sold on the Hotel Cortez.

Only 3 hours of breakfast and then you can't even have a coffee, no room service, never hot water, terrible cable channels, no Wi-Fi in bedrooms, no drawers, no closet, four hangers. A real disaster. Only the good disposition of the staff saves it.

The pics arw deceiving. Very basic hotel. Like a three star. Small n dirty bathrooms. Located in a deserted area, next to the stadium tough. But no activities. Sounds of small planes landing every half hour. Wouldn recomend it for a business traveller

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our hotel. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could have been. May be there was a confusion with your reservation, you mentioned that we are 3 star hotel and thats true we are a 3 star hotel. Near the hotel you can find, best restaurants in Town, like International Tantas (Gaston Acurio), only 2 blocks from the Hotel.Only 2 blocks from hotel you will find a shopping mall with Cinemas,a Bowling center, more than 4 banks,Supermarkets and more.... We are near to a Military Airport that only operates from 8:00 to 18:00 hours and there is no Airport in Bolivia that have a flight every half an hour. Once again tahnk you for your review and I do hope that the remainder of your trip to Bolivia was most enjoyable. Luis

The Hotel LP chain has a reputation for being one of the first "green" hotel firms in the world. Hallway lights only turn on when someone walks down the hall. Every room is equipped with a key card switch for all the lights and TVs in the room. Only a minimum of towels are provided to cut down on laundry. But everything else is outstanding. The rooms are large and spacious and equipped with Hitachi A/C and heating units mounted on the wall. The windows are floor to ceiling as the hotel looks more like an office building than a traditional hotel. The beds are very very comfortable and the bathrooms are very European in style and function. I've stayed in this Hotel LP 3 times over the last 4 years and always found that the best way to reserve your room is through the Hotel LP website and not hotels.com or trivago or other supposed discount sites. I paid nearly double the actual rate the one time I used hotels.com. I've stayed in a standard double room with a King bed, a suite with a King bed and Jacuzzi tub, and the unadvertised "triple" room with 3 single beds. No matter your selection, you will be pleased. Sadly, all three times I stayed the restaurant was closed for renovations or I had to leave before they opened for breakfast, so I can comment about the food.
if you are travelling through Viru Viru airport, beware that there are no decent hotels near the airport. You must come into Santa Cruz proper to find decent accommodations. Don't be fooled by websites that claim otherwise. If you want to stay close to the airport, go upstairs at the airport and use the micro-hotel rooms in the airport itself. Yes they are small, but they are also less than a cab ride back and forth to town and a decent hotel.
I always try to stay near soccer stadiums when I travel because there are usually a lot of restaurants and shopping close by, and this Hotel LP location is no different. The plaza mall is about 5 blocks walking and has many restaurants, a theatre, and 3 casinos. It ain't Las Vegas, but it's fun entertainment for a couple of hours. Also, be aware that no one wins in these local casinos, it's merely mindless entertainment. The city center September 15 Plaza is about 15 blocks walking in the opposite direction, but full of unique stores and very nice plaza.
Make sure you can speak either English or Spanish if you plan to stay here. The staff mostly speak Spanish, but the front desk staff speak English very well and can help you with just about anything you need. They are all very kind and polite, particularly if you are too.

The LP seems to be in an odd location - opposite the football stadium - but it's actually not bad. It's a 30min taxi from the airport (1hr on a microbus) and approx 15mins walk to the 24 Septiembre main plaza in Santa Cruz. There's a supermarket and a few burger joints, cafes and icecream parlours a few minutes' walk away but for a better choice of food, we'd recommend you take a cab for about 10 Bolivianos to Monsenor Rivero just north of the main plaza.
(By the way, overall Santa Cruz is a pretty low key place, even thought the traffic and associated fumes can be pretty bad. And Sunday night is very quiet, like most places South America.)
Anyway, the LP Hotel reception staff were friendly, helpful and professional - we'd like to make a special mention of Lezly. The free buffet breakfast is pretty good and they have an espresso machine (yay). The free wifi was fast enough to stream films online and Skype successfully. Our room was a suite with a mini lounge, which we got for a bargain price after hunting around online, and it was absolutely massive, with modern fixtures, and very clean. The shower was awesome and we liked the eco friendly touches throughout the hotel eg sensor lights in the hallways, shampoo in a refillable pump container in the shower etc.
Our only criticism is that, because of all the glass and tiles in the lobby/atrium and hallways, any noise (eg a couple of people wheeling suitcases) is highly amplified and travels to the rooms.

LP Hotel in Santa Cruz is located in a quiet area that looked safe to us . Close to city center by taxi and 3 blocks away from a lively plaza day or night
Good places to eat close by , like a churrasquerÃa at Cine Center with good local and argentinian meats , cafeterÃas and even a TANTA restaurant a few blocks away with the same delicious peruvian food they have in their branches in Perú
The building is modern , the suite was clean , spacious and well iluminated . The bathroom was clean
Disliked : they only clean the rooms and replace towels till noon time , below modern standards
Excelent breakfasts

Our 20-year old daughter planned to overnight at the airport in Santa Cruz, but the local consulate didn't think that was a good idea so we booked a room at the Hotel LP and it worked out marvelously. They sent their driver, Carlos, to pick her up at the airport at 1 am and the next day he not only drove her to the bus station but went inside to help her buy her ticket and he cautioned her about her exposed iPhone, etc.
Claire said the welcome at hotel reception was gracious and the room was clean, quiet and modern. Many thanks to the Hotel LP for starting our daughter off right in beautiful Bolivia.
