Would have been 5 but we we were charged 165 dollars to get some t shirts shorts and pants washed ( not ironed or dry cleaned - just washed)!
It was more than two nights accommodation and we found out at the point of check out
The big feature was to reduce it to 100 dollars
As we are effectively back packing for a few months this was a huge shock and ruined our stay
After 40 years of travelling using some top hotels this bill tops the lot !!!

I stayed only 1 night before flying back home. Nicely decorated spacious room with excellent wifi signal, and well working bathroom. It was good to have a kettle in the room to make tea/coffee because I had an early start and the promised take-away breakfast was not ready. The hotel has a nice little outdoors pool, but because of an unusual cold spell during my stay, I could not use it.

There are many hotels that are quickly forgotten because they look the same and don't give you a sense of where you are in the world. And then there are the hotels that you'll always remember and want to return to because they hold something unique and tell a story.
It doesn't have to have anything to do with stars. But there are plenty of them at the Alfonisna in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The walls everywhere are stylishly plastered with movie stars. My wife and I shared a room with Steven Spielberg, Challie Chaplin and Woody Allen, among others.
As for stars, this unique boutique hotel deserves five stars for its consistently rustic coziness, for the hundreds of little details where you discover new ones every day, and for the extraordinary service you'll find throughout the hotel, where the staff do everything to make you feel at home. There is nothing pretentious about the hotel. It's just warm, good and genuine.
And of course, it doesn't hurt that they make first-class pizzas and have a really varied wine list with Argentinian wines.
