We booked an amazing boutique hotel "Casa Patio" which is located in Las Palmas, which is by far the Bourgeois side of town. Our fabulous hosts "Nicole y Manuel" converted their fabulous estate into a super cool bed & breakfast. The property consists of several little carriage houses surrounding the main house where the owners reside on the 2nd level, all of the cute mini homes have been personally hand-decorated and serve as the guest suites to the hotel boutique. Casa Patio has undeniable SOUL! There were several little nooks amongst the grounds designed for gathering, dining, reading, relaxing, etc. Our lofted mini brick carriage house was located across the beautifully landscaped courtyard placed behind the main house named "Sol y Luna" (sun & moon). Each suite has it's very own thoughtful name. The style & design by the hands of the owners represents mad love, cool antiques & original art. The ambiance is absolutely fantastic and for anyone who knows me, knows that, for me: atmosphere is everything.. We really scored with this inexpensive luxurious location which was absolutely full of character.

Upon arrival to Casa Patio, the neighborhood was very upscale in caparison to the rural route we rode in transit from the airport, with each & every Estate hosting an incredible individual style. Some were super modern "Miami Style", others were traditional, and ours was a style all its own with a terracotta roof, brick & stucco walls, our space was truly my favorite! We arrived at Casa Patio, buzzed the bell and Manuel warmly welcomed us with a homemade lemonade (delicioso) and we instantly felt like we were home with la familia. Our hosts spoke fluent English and were always on point for suggesting the perfect spots around town for us to check out.

Casa Patio served a "5 star Valentines Day" dinner. The hotel also opens for dining with reservation for non-hotel guests also. So on the day of love they had guests staying from all over the world as well as locals in love, coming to have a romantic night out in Las Palmas. The vibe at Casa Patio is nothing short of 5 star, in fact much, much more.. We had the most amazing dinner, opened a couple of bottles of wine, and spent the night with awesome company conversing, laughing, learning and sharing stories..

Located in a quit neighbourhood this place feels like home. I stayed for two nights with my wife and two daughters during our round trip in Bolivia. We could not have picked a better place ! Nicole and her husband are the perfect hosts. Also the interior is unique. Every time you look around you discover new lovely objects. When we had a problem to move on due to some roadblocks (strike of the transport sector), Nicole and her husband Manuel did everything that was possible to inform us and to find a solution.
The distance to the city centre ( <5 km) is really no problem. Arranging a taxi takes minutes and the cost is low. Should you hesitate, simple don't, chose this place for your stay in Santa Cruz.

Very nicely decorated, in a nice area and lovely to have oats and decent coffee for breakfast. However, the location meant there were not many places to go out and eat (and also it would have been expensive to keep getting taxi's everywhere) so for this reason and also due to times of arrival from trips and the airport we chose to eat there on two occasions and were disapointed with the food both times (a main meal of salad was lots of tomato with a tiny sprinkling of cheese and less than a quater of a green pepper) especially considering the price. We were also shocked to find a service charge added for the meals considering the clearing of the tables was not as efficient as it should have been...you cant have home style clearing and delivery and then charge 10% service. The first night we slept for free as the room had such bad damp problems it was actually a health hazzard. The second room we had also had damp issues but not so badly. The light swithces in the bedroom were also filty and there were very few plugs so you could either have a light or plug in your camera to charge. The owners also tried to hard to the extent their nicetys felt unsincere and the whole place was certainly not condusive to a relaxing atmosphere.
They call themselves a botique and their prices reflect this being quite high (especially for Bolivia) but they still have work to do to achieve what you would expect of a botique hotel...while they have plenty of style they need to build up the substance.

Our experience at Casa Patio was beyond our expectations.
The staff not only made us feel like family, but they did much more than expected for any hotel.
From laundry, dinner, wine tastings and sane and fun conversation it was all great!

Nicole, Manuel and the rest of the staff made sure that every little detail was perfect. This is something that you do not find easily in Santa Cruz

The decor was fun, eclectic and chic. The rooms offer books, antiques and curiocities that relax your mind and sight.

I recommend this hotel to everyone going to Santa Cruz as by far guarantee that this is The BEST hotel all across the board in the city

Gracias casa patio!!!!!!

My friend stumbled across this place whilst on a brief stop-over in Santa Cruz and found it so nice that we had to come back.

The hotel is laid out in a colonial style with a gorgeous enclosed patio at the back surrounded by luscious vegetation. The rooms are pleasant and relaxing, each with air-conditioning. There is an assortment of trinkets scattered throughout. The collection of antique candleholders, statues and old weathered books will keep you rummaging around for hours. But what really made this a great place to stay were the hosts; Nicole and Manuel. They really did go above and beyond to make sure that you did not want for anything during your stay.

Nicole’s homemade soaps, shampoo, chocolates, yoghurt etc were all outstanding. The cooking was amazing, the wine selection immense. Even the young daughter chips in, selling her homemade jewellery on a stand in the courtyard.

The atmosphere created by this family makes you feel like you have been invited into their home rather than into a hotel. They really do make you feel welcome. By far the best hotel I have stayed in, and not just in Bolivia.

We spent two nights at CasaPatio and found it to be an excellent choice for a quiet stay in a hectic city. CasaPatio is a boutique hotel developed from a colonial style home located in an upscale residential neighborhood called Las Palmas. This area of town is safe and quiet. The young owners, Nicole and Manuel, have gone to great lengths to create an enticing spanish colonial atmosphere by furnishing the home throughout with antiques they have collected in Bolivia. They also are very lovely hosts who will strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We were able to get a very late checkout for a reasonable 30% charge since we were taking a night bus to our next destination. They also allowed us to store baggage there until we returned to Santa Cruz a week later. This was extremely helpful since we couldn't possibly have taken all our luggage with us. The owners are also multi-lingual, speaking Spanish, French, and English very well, and I suspect other languages are spoken also (German?). The beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, there was plenty of hot water, good wifi internet access, and the plentiful breakfast was free.

Nicole and Manuel are also excellent chefs and will serve superb dinners if you desire. The dining is a bit pricey, but worth it if you are craving a gourmet meal.

Overall I rate CasaPatio as an excellent choice if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Santa Cruz. The owners are very accomodating and have literally thought of everything to make the guest feel comfortable. The only downside is that you must take a taxi wherever you go. But, since taxis are cheap (15B= $2.25) this is not really much of a deterrence unless you really want to be in the center of action downtown. I plan to stay there again the next time we are in Santa Cruz.

Better than I had hoped. After doing some research on accomodation in Santa Cruz, I was happy I had booked Casa Patio Boutique hotel. It was a great end to a wonderful trip to Bolivia. Nicole and Manuel are amazing individuals who are truly passionate about their country and culture. They welcome you to their hotel, which feels like home. Delightful hosts, accomodating, thoughtful and amazing cooks. Manuel offered some advice on wines, and together they made the stay memorable.

I had a great trip to Bolivia, the people kind but Nicole and Manuel far exceeded the kindness of any I had met. I will return to Santa Cruz to visit Casa Patio again.

Don't hesitate book now!

This was a perfect stay. The house and gardens are beautiful and there are interesting collectibles all throughout. My room was great and after several months of traveling in Bolivia, it was great to stay in a very nice and comfortable place. It was like a vacation from traveling.

It was less than a $2 USD cab ride from the center of the city and it felt great to come back to this oasis and chill out in a very nice and upscale neighboorhood.

Nicole and Manuel are the best hosts and interesting and fun people. They have very nice and welcoming friends as well, which made this an even better stay.

Great food and wine, amazing ambiance, welcoming hosts...perfect stay!
