The Hotel Camino Real is very comfortable and beautiful, but unfortunately the furnishings are a little dated. In the room (with pool access) you can see it from the loose sockets and the furniture is a little outdated, the beds are comfortable, they are on wheels and I almost hurt my foot there. Room service worked perfectly. Every now and then a tile is missing in the pool and you always have to be careful not to miss the steps in the pool or injure yourself on the protruding screws on the parasol. The sun exposure at the pool was best in the morning, from early afternoon the tall trees cast a lot of shade. The lawn could be better maintained, at the edges you only walked on hard earth in places. Over the holidays there were a lot of people at the pool, so there were far too few loungers. The plastic chairs are far too uncomfortable for sunbathing. The indoor pool is beautifully laid out, here again the tile problem, but still a nice experience with direct access to the steam sauna, sauna and large shower. Unfortunately, the adjacent fitness studio was much too small and there was no space for floor exercises such as Pilates or yoga. The breakfast buffet was OK, but not of outstanding quality. Fruit and local products such as cunapes, saltenas, arepa and empanadas were very tasty, the coffee was inedible, and the tea selection was excellent. Having your own juice machine was the real highlight, as the juices were freshly prepared to individual taste. The egg omelettes were also prepared to personal taste and brought to the table. The meat selection in the buffet was not very varied. I had to change rooms right at the beginning because the safe didn't work. You really have to complain here for something to happen. The service staff are always very polite and reserved, but you have to wait a long time for something to happen and you often have to make sure that you are being told the truth. It should also be noted that the large road that runs right next to the hotel is always very noisy. The huge shopping mall flashes its neon sign 24 hours a day and lights up the hotel at night. All in all, it was a nice stay with a few minor drawbacks. I personally think the price of the hotel is overpriced. In the end, everything worked out well.

I loved staying at this hotel for its nice location, the good service, the wonderful garden & pool and I especially enjoyed all the art works inside the hotel. The art objects and the wooden pieces of furtniture give the hotel a warm atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and always ready to help, with a smile. Spacious rooms, good breakfast with great egg station and much more.

First time staying at Camino Real (I've stayed in another 5-star hotel nearby before). Room was okay, we got the King bed suite. Some small features could be improved inside the room (curtains were broken the reels, windows didn't shut properly). We tried to dine in the hotel's restaurant (called La Tranquera) and I was informed the restaurant is closed on Sunday evening/nights. They have a fairly size swimming pool and an indoor one with dry and steam saunas, small gym, barber shop and spa. The staff is friendly. Proximity to downtown and other touristic attractions is far (need taxi to move around). They have a shopping mall a block away from the hotel (Ventura Mall). Reception staff are a bit rude and unfriendly (they tried to charge us items from the frigo bar that we didn't consume). Good experience but for the price charged we will try other 5-star hotels in the area.

I made a last-minute reservation through Expedia. Normally I go straight to the hotel, but I had some points I wanted to redeem. I paid over $600 to stay for three nights. I am a VIP gold member for Expedia and they did not honor that. It is a good hotel but not great. The moment I made my reservation with Expedia I called the hotel because they had given me a specific room in the past, and it wasn’t available on the Expedia app. The person that I spoke to told me he was trying to get me the room I had last time but he couldn’t see my reservation. So I waited until The reservation went through but then they changed everything and they said we don’t have the room anymore because the tower is closed. Next day when I came to check in all of a sudden for a certain amount of money $300 worth the room was available. It was magic, but not magic I was willing to pay for and so I didn’t get the room I wanted I am a VIP gold member for Expedia and they would not honor it they didn’t care that I tip everybody and their mother when I get here. Next time I’ll choose another hotel and that’s the end of that. I don’t sweat the small stuff, but for making an extra couple dollars they just lost a customer that comes in a week at a time and tips everybody and their mother. So shove the upgrade up your butt. It’s all good with me. The biggest mistake I did was paying for the full amount through the app of Expedia. But you live and learn

This rating is a 1 star because I can’t rate it ZERO. The showers only have slightly warm wáter, much colder tan body temp, and they try to convince you that you don’t know how to turn the handle. After claiming to have fixed it 5 times, without doing anything, they agreed to move me to another room…. Which also had the same cold shower.
The beds are rock hard. And pillow just as hard. Harder than my carpeted floors at home. Ants in the room. Filet minon tough and almost imposible to chew.
Half of the hotel faces a mall with a huge Electronic screen on the wall facing the traffic and hotel, flashing its lights and messages 24 hours a day. Even closing the blackout curtains left flashing lights over and under it.
Some of the rooms have the AC programed to turn off at 11 pm. You then wake up sweating and have to get up and turn it back on, though it defaults to fan only, so remember to turn it to AC.

Terrible. First, they forced me to pay for the entire stay as soon as I arrived otherwise they wouldn't accommodate me. When I left they wanted to charge me back and I had to wait until the afternoon for them to solve it. My 78-year-old father's blood pressure went up and he had to take a pill to feel better. Then I paid the hotel expenses in dollars and they did not want to give me the discount that they said on their signs that if I paid in cash I had 10% and that the consumption was almost Two hundred dollars. No one ever came out to apologize and only the receptionist attended to us. I went several times, but the customer service now leaves a lot to be desired.

Excellent hotel! Very spacious rooms, very good staff. All spectacular. It has several pools, plus the rooms are very good price if you apply value for money. If I return to Santa Cruz I would stay there without hesitation.

It is a very well located hotel, with spacious rooms, very comfortable spaces, paths and recreation areas very well maintained. Excellent pool area with choice of towels, gym and excellent breakfast. Very careful with the terraces as many insects come in and one tends to close the windows but on the outside you cannot open

Saludos.
