Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for 10 days in May 2015. I wanted a quiet place to relax and this hotel did the trick. The room was very large and clean. The bed was comfortable and the A/C functional. There is a pleasant pool and outdoor area to relax in. Slightly dilapidated perhaps, but that added to its charm. It was perfect for a short stay in a hot city. I experienced no inconveniences. It is in a great location...actually I enjoyed my stay a lot.

It's out of date. Needs a major overhaul to bring up to standards. The showers have very low pressure, lots of things are just falling apart. The washer didn't work. The service is good from the staff. The breakfast isn't wow, just breakfast. And bad coffee. If it's not included the price of the room, walk across the street for breakfast at vanilla coffee or Starbucks is two blocks.
We'd only stay there again if we'd get a really good deal on the price.
Stay as far away from the elevators as possible. Very noisy! They're old and rattle!!

This is an older building (30-40) years old and it shows in some areas. They do have large size suites which are very comfortable and complete, they even have a service and laundry room. Depending on the purpose of your trip the location may or may not work for you. We have family near the hotel area so it worked great for us. Breakfast was included and it was ok , it had the basics coffee, eggs, hotcakes bread etc... The front desk personnel are very helpful and ready to held specially the doorman. Overall this hotel is an excellent value.

Do not stay here! It was so bad i couldn’t make it past two out of the seven non-refundable nights. I booked a week in July 2022 through our RCI Timeshare; who typically uphold standards of cleanliness and functionality of it resorts. I have been traveling internationally since I was a toddler, and being Latin American descendent I understand and experienced vintage, rustic and even old hotels. But Yotau is not just old and outdated; which I’d be ok with. The carpets were so dirty, I had black feet within 10 minutes of walking barefoot. The sofas smelled bad, had wires sticking out, stains and holes. The mattress sunk in and horribly uncomfortable. The lamps, outlets and overall wiring barely worked. The two wall mounted A/C units never cooled; Santa Cruz is super hot and humid even in their “winter”. The shower knobs or handles didn’t work properly; and once on the water was on it took a long time to start dribbling. The kitchen cabinets were falling apart, everything smelled, internet wifi is a joke. Everywhere and every corner of this hotel was a scene from a low budget 1994 horror movie as nothing has been updated since it opened.

My daughter had to stay at Yotau for a week due to the quarantine; she made payment in advance, but did not manage to travel for objective reasons. It's been 12 days since, and the hotel has not reimbursed the money yet. I have called 4 times, and the only answer I get is "I don't know, I'm just a simple receptionist". The accountability personnel never seems to work. Horrible service. They just scammed us.

Although it is very well located, this hotel is very run down and is in need of a major renovation. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurants are not very good. If you want breakfast or coffee, there is a great place across the street called "Vainilla". Definitely not 5 star (nor 4 for that matter!).

I go to Santa cruz alot for work and the company I work for puts me up in this hotel. Where do I start? The staff is soooo rude, they act as if they are doing you a favor for letting you stay there, the concept of "you are providing me a service for which I'm paying for" is way over there heads. I would also like to mention the food at the restaurant is old and stored by what appears to be years .. everyone that I work with including myself have eating at the restaurant in the hotel atleast once and we have all gotten severe food poison, I was hospitalized for 4 days after my dinner at the yotau. I thought I was going to die it was horrible. We move on to the common areas of the hotel which are all smoking permitted , from the "business center" (which by the way is a joke) to the elevator. smoking everywhere. all the rooms are smoking and the cleanning staff is not very good so lets just say that you room will more than likely smell like tabacco. Now I have led you into the rooms, which are in horrible condition , the Air conditioners dont work they turn to ice and then the ice starts to melt causing a puddle on the floor, your lucky if they A/C cools at all. The carpets are sticky I made the mistake of jumping out of bed once without shoes to go to the bathroom and my feet where being glued to the floor and what ever that sticky substance is stuck to my feet it was so gross. the bathrooms are also in very bad shape there isn't any water preasure on the shower mostly because the water comes out of everywhere exept the shower head, creating a huge puddle on the floor and ladies washing your hair is nearly impossible. The walls are covered in mold and I dont think that inhailing mold is safe at all. I would liek to make it clear that this review is not based on one stay or one room , its based on nearly a year of stays where I have been there about one week every other week and I have stayed in about every room so please dont stay here ever. I will include some pics I took from my last stay.

I had the unfortunate chance to stay in that hotel. Customer service from front desk is ok but service was terrible, I went into their restaurant and not only was service bad, I waited for the food for one and a half hour, I asked due to the delay that the food be brought to my room since I got tired of waiting and was told that they were not going to do that and that they would have to raise my room rate for that matter, when the food made it it was cold and horibleI had family visit me at the hotel and was told that if they stayed longer than four hours I would get charged extra, also their internet service is restricted could not use my magic jack to let my office know that I was going to be delayed and was forced to use their phone service through an operator, I had to give her my numbers where I needed to call and wait until she could transfer me the call(that was 50 years ago), their business center is obsolete, ancient. could not connect any where and did not have USB for my flash memory.
So if you get a choice of Hotels for the excessive cost of Yotau.
As far as the room it stunk like a rotten rug, the bathroom was even worse.
I recommend Camino Real, Los tajibos, Casa Blanca or any other, I think this hotel deserves to be a one star hotel if not less for all the bad experience that I went through while visiting Bolivia.
Also if you get stuck(cancelled trip) and the airline books your hotel you MUST ask to be placed at any other Hotel except Yotau.

Old rooms, loud and noisy! Guest can make party until 4 am in the morning and the hotel is not doing anything to stop it!
Never again! Don‘t book that place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place!
