Very nice, big and light aparthments. The hotel is very comfy. The three pools are very nice, the heated pool seems to be the most maintained, locaded just by the snackbar. The hotel offers very good services, has good restautrantes and spa which my wife liked very much :o)
Only thing missing, was a mini-bar. For some reason, there was no minibar in the apartments.
But it is a very relaxing place, where you can spend a week with-outh leaving the compound, if you like.
I can only recomend this hotel, it has to be the best hotel in Santa Cruz, Bolivia!

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at Buganvillas Hotel with an International Volunteer Medical team from Operation Smile. The front-desk staff and every single member of the staff couldn't be more accommodating and gracious. With the addition of the HyperMaxti next to the hotel, it's a perfect place to stay in Santa Cruz. That's obvious from the number of airline personnel who regularly stay here. The rooms are large and comfortable. A full kitchen and refrigerator make this the perfect location for those who want to stay for an extended period of time and the 3 pools with drink service are wonderful on a hot sunny afternoon. For those wanting to walk from the hotel to the center of the city, it is less than 40 minutes or 2-bolivianos and bus #29 on the street in front of the hotel. Couple all of this with free wi-fi everywhere, and it doesn't get much better than this in Bolivia.

I have stayed in many hotels in santa cruz, all of them are run down and scary!!!! this place was defenetly a breath of fresh air from that city. Its a gated community , you stay behind the gates. I enjoy the security that provides, because people can't just walk in to the property, everyone is scanned. They have certain property rules that people who are looking to party like rockstars might not like , but I enjoy very much. You are not permitted to have guest of the opposite sex in your room unless they are registered guest (they may visit you in the lobby), you are permitted to have guest of the same sex visit you in your room , but they can only stay there until 10:00 pm, then they must go home. The property is maintained beutifully , there is staff working on it all day long. I spent hours just walking around and taking in the area. I have eated 3 times at the snack bar and once at the restaurant and I have not gotten food poison, which I always got at the other hotels I stayed in while in santa cruz. The rooms are spotless, there in no mold on the walls , the air conditioners work, the bed is very nice. They have knock-down treatment on the walls, molded ceilings, art deco style furniture, there is a tv in the living along, a radio with cd player, a big chair and a small sofa. There is also a tv in the bedroom and a full body mirror (which is great). there is a pretty well sized kitchen and the best part! its fully stocked!!! everything you need a kitchen is provided. There is also a dinning area with a long table for eating. Free internet is provided , but you must bring your own ethernet cable or you can rent one from the property, make sure the cable you bring is atleast 7ft long to provide some kind of mobility. If you must go to santa cruz this is the place to stay.

We were there for the first time in 2018, the facilities were very good, we returned this year and the facilities have nothing to do with the previous ones, breakfast started at 07:00 and was only assembled at 07:50 and of poor quality, so we couldn't take it since due to schedule we had to leave at 07:15.
The old, curved mattresses. We were 3 passengers in the apartment and due to the state of the beds the third passenger changed hotels, since it was impossible to rest in those beds, we informed the hotel and they did not give us any discount, the only option they gave us was a late check out, which didn't help us because our flight left early. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, it's a shame that the hotel has deteriorated so much.

We organized our wedding in Santa Cruz and we chose Buganvillas given the reputation, we brought 18 people over from different countries to stay with us, made the reservations with weeks of anticipation under my wifeās name and mine. We came down to the hotel to tell them that we were gonna check āin later but we wanted to leave some thank you cards for our guests. The day before the before the wedding, as crazy as it was, we didnt get to fill up the registration cards, then it was the wedding day, then it was city tour day.. and then the most unexpected happened, on monday nov 25th, we went to the restaurant to have breakfast, my wife was already at the table and I was getting some eggs and bacon from the food warmer, which are very old and you need to do extra effort to open then and close them, so when I was closing it, it came all down towards me, I got to jump back but the hot wĆ”ter from the food warmer still went all over my thighs and right foot. The waiter yelled to go out and take off my shorts, the wĆ”ter burnt my inner thighs almost completely and my right foot. They took me to the hospital, where I have to stay for at least 5 nights and today a legal advisor of theirs came over and told me they will only cover the medical expenses until that momento because it wasnt the hotelās fault, they blamed having old food warmers that led to this accident to me. And now they are alledging that I was never registered anyway when I would go to the reception almost every day making sure my guests had what they needed and using the facilities and now they are telling me I was never a guest. This should NEVER EVER happen at a five star hotel. Whilst I am here sitting in a hospital room that was paid for only one day and with 3 second degree burns class A.

Dear AliJabry, We're really sorry about all the incident that you suffered in our hotel, we really understand that you've to feel really disappointed when something like that happens. But the hotel checked the food warmer and it's not old, we bought it about nine months ago and they are from a well recognised brand in Southamerica, so we can't understand what happened. More than 300 people eat there every day and nobody had this problem opening it, we 'rechecked' and investigated how the incident could happen, and it's hard to understand how you get burned, it's really difficult to drop down. Anyway we helped as much as we could to you as a damaged guest, and you weren't registered, we paid one day and a half in one of the best hospitals of the city, and we were there asking about your health because we're really worried. Another point's that the hotel's stills waiting for the payment of the suit from one of your group none registered members. We did our best to help, but we cannot be responsible of something that we didn't do. Sincerely, Hotel Buganvillas

I stayed at the Buganvillas Hotel around November 20th, 2013 for approximately four days. I was traveling from Toronto, Canada to Santa Cruz for a friends' wedding and I chose to stay at this hotel due to my friends' recommendation.
I am surprised that this hotel received the high rating it did, based on numerous factors. However, before I discuss my issues, I will state some of the positives:
-The grounds were well maintained, and the pools were lovely
-I liked the fact they have a gym and an area where you can play soccer or other outdoor sports
-The security makes you feel safe
-The Bellboys were professional and always appeared helpful
-One of the staff, I believe his name Raul (he was a lighter complexion compared to most Bolivians I saw, he seemed like he was in his 20's and worked in the afternoons) who was very helpful. He offered to help me find an item I thought I had left in a taxi and he also wrote down what I would need to say in Spanish when buying a ticket for an overnight bus to La Paz. This is the only reason why I am giving the hotel two stars as opposed to one.
This being said, I have some major issues during my stay at Bunganvilas, which I will elaborate on in the following:
-Firstly, I found the majority of the hotel staff not to be very helpful. When you approached some of them, they had an attitude that they were somehow doing you a favor by speaking to you. The exception to that was one of the staff, I noted above (Raul). You also had to wait for some time for staff to attend to you, which coming from Canada, is something I am not accustomed to.. I do not know if this is the norm in Bolivia. The first day I checked in and I stayed in a single room, but the second day I moved to a shared suite, that I would share with other guests attending my friends' wedding. The staff did not know what room I was supposed to go in and so I had to wait.
-The toilet in the bathroom did not flush. The staff sent over two men, two separate times to fix this problem. Both of these gentlemen did not wash their hands after, which I thought was disgusting as they put their hands on the railing and the door. Both times the problem was not fixed. I ended up temporarily fixing it myself. The string that was affixed to the plunger was broken and just needed to be changed. The first man's attempt to fix the toilet, left it flooding.
-The food at the restaurant was overpriced and there was NO options for an individual who is vegetarian, with the exception of one salad. However, to be fair, Santa Cruz appeared to have few options for those of us who follow plant-based diets.
-The groom, while in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, was badly burned due to the negligence of the staff. Mistakes do happen, people are human beings -- however, the hotel adopted the attitude that the groom was negligent and did not adequately compensate the groom or bride. Imagine staying somewhere on your wedding and sustaining severe burns as a result of negligence and then having the hotel blame you! That was really concerning to me, and it just seemed like a bad move considering that all of the guests were from abroad, and that would tarnish the hotels reputation internationally. I work in a professional and academic position, and I have not recommenced this hotel to anybody and when I have shared my experience, people are shocked!
-The last night I spent at the hotel, I was bit by something. I am assuming they were spiders, but it was about 5 or 6 really bad bites, and one my forehead and neck.
-The water in the shower went from hot to really cold. I ended up taking cold showers as I was afraid of being scolded by the hot water. The one time I was showering the water went to scalding hot!
-While the rooms were clean and well maintained,I found the corridor and stairs to be dusty.
Anyhow, I hope after reading my review, the hotel will try to make some positive changes. For someone traveling from abroad, this would clearly not be a hotel that I consider 5 star. If I was being generous, perhaps I could give it a 3.5.

Dear Arsh55, Thank you very much for your review. We are so sorry to read that you're disappointed with the hotel, we always take note about the opinions of our costumers. About the technical problems, we are doing some changes in the hotel, the time run's fast and wear's down everything. This hotel is well known because of our staff, and that's why we're really surprised about your complain on it. About the company who solved the bathroom problem, we just have to say that they're from an external company, we'll take care about that. In fact, for us s really helpful to receive the aware of our visitors, you give us a chance to improve. But we want to make clear that in your review are some thing's that the hotel cannot do nothing, and it isn't our fault. About the accident that your friend suffered at the breakfast, we've to notice that it wasn't our fault, all our material that we use on breakfast is from a well known company and it has less than a year since we buy it, since we bought it 300 people are using it every day and nothing happened. The hotel, helped more than we could to a man who wasn't registered in the hotel and we payed a day and a half in one of the best hospitals of the city. We understand that this accident turns off a celebration and that you and your friends can be angry, but the hotel did everything that was on our hands. Finally we tried to speak with the damaged guest, but as we wrote before, he wasn't registered in the hotel and he didn't pay for his room. We're still waiting for his payment. Sincerely, Hotel Buganvillas

Well, I don't even know how to begin. Fact is this is an old hotel, with old rooms and bad services.
This is a tourism hotel so if you are looking for a cheap place to hang around with your friends and enjoy the 2 pools, that's OK. If you have a big family and are looking for a budget hotel, this is the place for you.
If not, run.
The rooms are not so clean, lights are burnt, interruptors do not work. Bathroom has "foreign" hair, bathtub is dirty and cracked. The pillows smell very bad, seems to be due to dirt, mold and humidity. The room also smells funny. The safes do not work in the rooms, there is a courtain in the bathtub so the water does not spill when you shower, but the courtain has a lot of holes in it, so you end up wetting everything.
There is a single trash can in the room and it's not cleaned daily. Not all items of the minibar are actually there. If you order from the room service, they change you more.
The bathroom windows are directly beside a hallway, so people pass through. This is also lined with your bed, so you must close the door if you want to sleep unseen.
Most rooms are in the ground floor and there are big glass windows and people pass through, so you must close everything again not to be seen.
Oh, and the hotel taxis charge what they want and you have to pay. Usually 2 to 6 times what normal taxis or the Los Tajibos taxis charge.
Wi-Fi is not available in all rooms and still it's very slow and some times simply doesn't work.
Did I mention mosquitoes already? Yes, they are in the room.
I ended up leaving this place and going to Camino Real, but Los Tajibos seems to be in the same level as Camino Real, very good.
I will NEVER come back here.

Response from CostumerExperience, Public Relations Manager at Buganvillas Hotel Suites & Spa
Responded 22 Apr 2015
Dear WillSegatto, Very good afternoon. We have read your comments and deeply regret the bad image you take of our hotel. Our hotel has a history of 14 years in the market of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a tropical city with high temperatures and humidity above 80%. The hotel is located on 6 acres with lush green areas, meticulously maintained and continuously sprayed in accordance with strict insect control measures. However, these measures do not eliminate the mosquitoes in the environment, so we recommend our guests not to open their windows or leave the doors of their suites open for a long time to avoid these from entering. Our suites are spacious and carefully furnished. They are cleaned daily, changing the waste bins, towels and sheets. Our supervisors meet all the stringent quality control procedures, so we see with strangeness what happened in your suite with the issue of waste. This since each suite contains two or more waste bins that are changed every day during the cleaning of the room and at night on the opening of the beds. Concerning the safe, we inform you that we performed the corresponding quality tests and it works perfectly. Our safes simply require you to request the key at our reception desk. This information is provided on the reverse of the card provided with your suite key during check-in. Making the necessary inquiries at the reception desk however, we were informed that you did not request this safe key. Regarding the shower curtains, according to our inspections they do not contain any holes. Those you refer to in your comments are just the design that the curtain comes with from factory. In relation to the room service, there is evidently a surcharge, which reflects the additional service provided. However this surcharge exists in most of the hotels in the world. Furthermore, allow us to inform you that our hotel, as we are sure you were able to verify on your visit, is not comprised of suites only on the ground floor as you point out. We have 116 suites distributed in 6 blocks of 4 floors each with 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom suites. It would have been a pleasure to provide you with another suite on a different floor with just a request from your part. The taxi service, even though it is not provided directly, is regulated and controlled by the hotel permanently. All vehicles are equipped with a price table, which is comparable with that of the other hotels you mention, making it practically impossible for them to be 2 to 6 times more as you mention. Nevertheless, our guests can take a cheaper taxi service if desired, but given that guest personal safety and comfort are two our main priorities, we provide this service with excellent quality and air-conditioned cars. Therefore Mr. Segatto answering your observations and confident that we provide a quality service, we hope to have you on your next visit to Santa Cruz and I will be personally grateful if you could contact me upon your arrival at our hotel, to serve you cordially. Sincerely,

My husband and I stayed at Buganvillas for 5 days in November 2013, our friends were getting married during that time and had arranged for all of the guests attending the wedding to stay at this hotel, including themselves. The entire group stayed in the apartment style rooms which were pretty clean and spacious. The grounds and pool were well maintained. The biggest let down was the Buganvillas administration and is the reason I rated the hotel 1 star. There was an incident at the breakfast buffet on the day before we were to all check out, where the Groom received 2nd degree burns on both of his thighs and foot, after one of the old buffet serving trays tipped and fell on him, with the scolding hot water falling on his legs! As a result he had to be hospitalized for a min. of 5 days. This could have happened to any guest there, which is the scary part. Both my husband and I found the buffet trays very difficult to open and close, sometimes I even had to use two hands to close the lid. Aside from the very old buffet trays that should really be replaced for the safety of other guests, the administration at Buganvillas is denying any responsibility for this accident which is quite a shame. So just be prepared that if any accident happens to you at the Buganvillas, they will likely try to pin all of the responsibility on you and not recognize their faults. This is a terrible way to treat your guests!

10 years ago, Buganvillas lived up to its reputation of a 5 star hotel but during our visit in Dec. 2014, we were disappointed since we arrived at 2: 15 pm on Dec. 28, 2014. After touring the Jesuit Missions & riding for 6 hours in a van, we arrived at the Hotel's reception where the four of us had reservations for a family suite but the 2 receptionists took 30 min in making copies of passports & ids + they couldn't give us the suite because it wasn't ready till 3 pm. They could care less about us being so exhausted! They sent us to the snack area for a free lemonade. After sitting there for 45 min., we went to the receptionists again & finally they gave us a bigger family suite which we thought was an upgrade but it was disappointing: it had 3 bathrooms & each shower poured scalding hot & cold water at intervals which was very uncomfortable. The following days, the breakfast area was packed with people & we had to wait 20 min to get a table far removed from the food counters. Our 2 nights at the hotel were only compensated with the shopping market Hipermaxi across the street where we could get decent & fair priced food. Santa Cruz has better hotels & Hotel Buganvillas needs a crucial revision to be classified as a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful grounds, excellent customer service. For the area, I am certain that it is one of the nicest places to stay in Santa Cruz. I did end up with an infected toenail after a pedicure in their spa, so I would not recommend the pedicure. Rooms are large and comfortable and the maids are very thourough. The food here is pretty good, nothing gourmet, but fresh and tasty. Keep in mind that you are not in the states so the level of things is not the same as a five star hotel in the states, but you cannot go wrong staying here.
