Had a great experience here and, as somebody with no experience with either yoga or meditation, I'm so glad I went out of my comfort zone and did it. I especially enjoyed the meditation and this is something I will be sure to continue back...More

It's been 3 days since I left Hariharalaya, and yet every day I find myself think about the garden with hundreds type of plants; the bungalow I spent 5 nights at, the yummy and healthy vegan food, the beautiful poem that was shared before each...More

John in reply to your question, I have no idea if there are restaurants nearby. I only left the retreat a few time to cycle and explore, never to get food. What is offered at Hariharalaya is more than enough to keep you satiated plus it's delish. You need to try the coco ice cream from their bar - Divine! I also think the whole point of going there is to detox from unhealthy food, alkohol, coffee and technology. Cleansing your system helps to clear your mind and tap into stillness within. I would encourage you to stick to their diet if you want to reap more benefits from your stay.
As for the bugs, there are mosquito nets on the beds so I wouldn't worry about it. When you venture out of the room (which you will most of the time), mosquito repellent is a must. Also be prepared to see frogs and geckos hopping/ running in between yoga mats sometimes. I think a small gecko dropped down on me from the ceiling at the fire ceremony but I was too busy chanting to investigate ;-) Anyway, this place is about connecting with nature as well and all the little creatures help you to do that. Enjoy! You will love it!

Yes Hariharalaya is an ideal place to come for solo travelers. You will meet with an international community of like minded people in a beautiful 2 acre campus with jungle gardens, hammocks, creative spaces, climbing gym, pool, tree house and more. At least half of our retreat participants come alone, but you will leave with a new found family of 20-30 people!
