The khmer curry here is honestly the best thing ever. But be hungry because its a LOT of food. Easily enough for two people and soo delicious. Staff were friendly and beers cheap. The passion fruit soda is pretty refreshing. I ate here at least 5 times in the month I was in Siem Reap.

It has a thin layer of class and is tolerable, but it has little desire to please the customer, and has brick walls instead of views from the windows (which are sealed shut permanently). At least they could put some plants in front of the walls and unseal the windows. Stayed there a few times as it was the original... More

It's been many years since I've backpacked and stayed at guest houses, but I thought it would be fun to try it again, and I was not disappointed. Already before my arrival the staff at Ivy GH was very helpful with recommendations and booking regarding tours in Siem Reap. They also help with booking my bus trip to Phnom Penh... More

I went to the Ivy Restaurant, that is within the Ivy Guesthouse. Friendly, clean, cool open courtyard with tables and bar. Although this is not a vegetarian restaurant, it offers a fair amount of vegetarian food.

We came there during the dry season and took a room with fan only. We regretted it because it is very hot in the room! Plus it was quite noisy because of the street. Fortunately, the cold shower was very refreshing, the place looks nice and the pool and cats in the entrance provide for a good time.

Stayed here for five nights food was fine and the staff were pleasant but the room was like a prison cell the walls needed a good lick of paint the bed was rock hard ,but I suppose that's what you get if you are on tight budget like I was

I spent a couple of days with my friends here. We used a tuktuk driver named, 'Bunny', who waits outside of Ivy. Bunny took the 4 of us around all day for$5 each. He is incredibly sweet and speaks very good English. He's very knowledgeable about the area as well. If you go to Ivy, you must ask for Bunny!

We looked for this place based upon recommendations by our "travel bible"... Anyhow, it turned out to be decent & clean, exactly what I want in accommodation. I was not attracted to the restaurant but a whole lotta other people were.... Give it a try if on a strict budget

The restaurant at the Ivy Guesthouse is the perfect place for a chilled evening meal. We visited twice; eating both Cambodian and western food. All meals were delicious, well-presented and excellent value. Service is good, but fairly slow. Good food is worth waiting for. The garden restaurant is a tranquil spot with comfortable seating and plenty of space between tables.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The original Ivy opened in December 1999, as the second western run business in the Old Market (by a couple of months). Owners Karl & Vannary have been catering to Siem Reap backpackers ever since and provide a warm homely atmosphere in which to enjoy your time visiting Angkor and the surrounding area. The guesthouse has 20 rooms (8 single w/fan, 8 double w/fan and 4 double a/c) all with en-suite facilities. The current Guesthouse opened in 2005 and is conveniently located along the Siem Reap river just minutes from the Old Market area and the center of town, it has since been improved with more rooms, air-conditioning and wifi-facilities. The Ivy provides a perfect budget option in the heart of Siem Reap. The simple rooms are cleaned everyday and are great for travellers trying to get a feel of Siem Reap before the rapid development of recent years. Whilst Siem Reap and Phnom Penh have rushed to develop over the past decade the majority of Cambodians are still farmers and live very simply in the countryside. The pace of life is slow and relaxed and family is the most important aspect of people's lives. The Ivy reflects this ideology and provides a fantastic atmosphere to relax and unwind after a day's exploration. Take advantage of the highspeed internet, unwind in the lounge, grab a hammock on the upstairs balcony or veg out on the sofa and watch some cable TV. The Ivy provides laundry service, bicycle rental, as well as bus and tuk-tuk reservations. Our English speaking staff are a wealth of local information and can assist you in booking trips to Angkor Wat and the surrounding area as well as inbound and onward travel. All at no extra charge. The Ivy and its owner, Van also prides herself on making some of the best food at incredible value for money. The all day breakfast is renowned and suitably large enough to sustain a long day out. The Khmer food is cheap and is prepared perfectly, this is complemented by an wide range of western favourites selected from menu created by a western chef exclusively for the Ivy back in 2001. There are also regular tapas and world food evenings and occasionally freebies of Vannary's latest new dishes. Find out why we are a firm favourite of the expat community in Siem Reap. ... more   less
