Our travel agent booked this hotel for us and we were not disappointed. The friendly welcome by English speaking receptionists was great and the room was impressively large with facilities that included a desk and chair, wifi, lage bath and separate shower, huge comfortable double bed and city view. All this and only a block from the CBD.

We spent two nights at the Holiday Inn Datong. We arrived late but the front desk was fast an efficient and whisked us to our rooms quickly. We booked through an online booking company and they had everything ready to go - other hotels needed to examine the voucher or other documents. Parking also was free. The rooms are large...

We (two female travelers) decided to stay at this Holiday Inn during our tour of Shanxi. Datong was our "base" to the Hanging Temple, Yungang Grottoes and eventual springboard to Mount Wutai. We were pretty haggard after 30+ hour of China "adventure" trains and definitely ready for some R&R. The beds were great with soft/firm pillows and the room was...

This hotel has a very good location in the main business district of Datong and is within reasonable walking distance (easy cab) to the major tourist destinations. We had breakfast included in our rate and found it to have a good variety of dishes that were well prepared. Many of the options trend towards local cuisine, but there are enough...

This is a four-star hotel in a city of western China. I heard it is invested by the government. Based on my experience, I think Five-star: 1. building, lobby, parking area 2. room - clean, large and well decorated Four-star 1. breakfast 2. service Below three-star: 1. the window is very dirty...

Stayed for one night after visiting YunGang Grottoes and the Hanging Temple. Room is large and well equipped, comfortable bed and pillows. However, cleanliness is not its strong hold...e.g. shower cubicle is dirty by 4-5 stars hotel standard. Yellowish patches of soap scum are visible. Bath room floor is dirty too. Wifi is poor in my room. I've got a device...

Rooms are large and comfortable with clean bathrooms but the food and drink service/selection was poor. Have stayed here twice now but probably not again. Don't try to check out before 7a.m. because the reception power/lighting is off and the computers don't work.

The rooms were very comfortable in this hotel. Nice large rooms, very clean. The breakfast was average. Some western food but mainly Chinese. The service was satisfactory, reception staff were helpful.

We have traveled extensively in China, and we put this at the bottom of the ranking of Western hotels that we have stayed at in China. Biggest problem: The air conditioning in the rooms did not work (although the rest of the building was comfortable.) We tried three different rooms, but were unable to get one in which the air...
