This 4 * hotel was quite up to standard of an American traveler (we usually stayed in smaller, more Chinese ones). Spaciness, cleanliness, and comfort were fine, the Thai restaurant was also quite good. The breakfast had Japanese, Chinese and American aspects, and thus had quite a variety (although no salmon, miso soup, and no omelette to order - something...

Don't be put off by the drab exterior this is a good value for money hotel. Stayed here twice in December, first time for 1 week in one of their Business Suites which are in a separate building at the rear. The Business Suite was in fact a 52 sq metre apartment Decoration was a little old but everything was...

My purpose of visit to Chengdu was to see the panda sanctuary and try the food. Those were well worthwhile but the hotel, the city and the overall welcome made it better than I could ever have expected. The staff did their best at speaking english and there was always a smile and help in any way possible. This was...

I was in Chengdu on transit (again) en route to Tibet. The last time I was at Chengdu (also for a holiday), I stayed at the Tibet Hotel, which was a bit out of town. Tianfu Sunshine, the former Amara-run hotel (Amara is a Singapore-owned, no-nonsense, no-frills hotel group) turned out to be a good choice for this stay at...

The lobby was pleasant. The room was brand new and beautiful but tiny and lots of furniture. The breakfast was great and the staff nice. The a/c worked well.

I was very pleased with this choice of hotel. The reception staff spoke good English and booked us in efficiently. The bedrooms were well furnished and the beds were really comfortable. It was all spotless. The air conditioning was a little noisy but worked well. We turned up relatively late to the hotel restaurant, when they had obviously been about...

This is a very clean, well-appointed hotel. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft and inviting. The air-conditioning only works when you have your room key card in the door slot. Same with the lights in the room. If you don’t have a bell person take you to your room, you won’t know this. The wall hangings and...

Tienfu Sunshine, the new name of the former Amara Hotel, is about 10 minutes walk from two major shopping areas. Coming by taxi, it is a little hard to find however. Overall, we rate Tienfu Sunshine a very good choice, for travellers looking for a fairly new, centrally-located and well-managed four-star hotel. The breakfast buffet is most satisfactory, offering a...
