Been here 5 times over the last two years. The location is excellent within the walled city and the vibe is relaxed and fun. What sets it apart though is the staff: awesome recepcionistas and maids/cooks. They treat you like family and love to hang out and chat. My freind got super sick and the maid Vilma cooked soup for...

Arriving with an Reservation, first we got pushed/tricked into paying before seeing the dorm which happen clearly with the agenda of hiding the mouldy wall. But the story of horror goes on: There was no water, so no shower nor toilet flush, which would have been bad enough like it is, it was worst with people having food poisoning!!!!!! After...

We were a little bit disappointed when we arrived because the hostel does not look like on the pictures. We still checked in because usually we still try to make the best out of the situation. We reserved for 3 nights, but because we werent sure about the place, we asked if we could pay the first night today and...

I loved to stay in this hostel! The location is perfect, exactly in the middle of the walled city. You can walk around the city easily, the hostel is close to many good and important points. It's really clean, the staff is very friendly, attentive and funny, they can give you the best information and make good parties. I arrived...

All together a very good hostel (sheets changed every morning, thoroughly cleaned, great location. My one problem was the music. Starting around 8 am and until midnight or later, one of the owners would play music so loud you could not sleep from the outside, you could hear it two floors up, sounded like a party was going on. Definitely...

Makako was the first hostel I have ever stayed in and I had a great experience. The location is great, close to the supermarket and the center while being relatively quiet at night. The staff was very welcoming and I really liked everyone I met there. I had a room with AC and had no problem sleeping at night. Since...

We stayed in the makako hostel luckily for 1 night only. After nearly 2 months in South America this is my worst hostel experience. The bathroom was extremely dirty, toilet with no cover, not a single hook - so I had to put my clothes and towel into the dirty sink whilst showering. The room was equally dirty, the walls...

I booked makako chill out hostel first for a few nights for my 4 week stay in Cartagena. I went. There and actually liked it, it's not a big anonymous hostel so you actually get to know and talk to a bunch of different people, it's usually like a little family, not like bigger anonymous hostels. It has a nice...

We spent a couple of nights in Makako Hostel and while the service was great, our five bed dorm was very hot (despite two fans) and felt cramped. There was hardly any space for us to put our backpacks, as there was minimal floor space. The lounge room was a good area to chill out, although the couch could do...

Many good reviews and the great location made us book a private room for 2 nights. We noticed a strange smell which seemed a plugged in air refresher. Returning really late after dinner, it seemed an air refresher cover up for a vomiting previous guest. Tired we went to bed anyway and checked out first thing in the morning (after...
