Had a 2-pers private room there. The building is very old fashioned. My sanitary was not cleaned during my 3-day stay. No new towels were provided. The kitchen was not clean at all. Breakfast is really very basic: either 2 eggs OR cereals, with toast and confiture. The nearest metro station is 20 minutes walking away from the hostel. Taxi...

First of all, can I just say what a place of beauty and serenity!! The art that adorns the walls and hallways is inspiring in itself. But when you interact with the employees there, that's where the real beauty of Colombia is exposed. I at first opted for the dorm room in an attempt to force myself to meet others,...

The receptionist and all the staff were wonderful. The hostel itself is nice with a spacious living room and large flat screen tv for movie and netflix watching. The kitchen seems to be stocked with all the essentials for home cooking. There is a lovely garden outdoor area with a hammock or two. I found the beds comfortable and the...

Buddha Hostel is in Laureles, Medellín. It's a nice, really cheap and comfortable place for a short stay. Could be a bit noisy at night (before 00:00). It's a good place for meet travelers from Europe and South America

This could be a great hostel... really friendly and interesting staff, and what may be the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. A cute cat lives here too (warning to those with allergies, however...). But the "night happenings" are just too loud, and too weird. More specifically, I mean the loud house music that the receptionist was pumping from...

Barrio es muy tranki. Bathrooms are old & not cleaned as often as many other hostels (multiple times per day, or even @ least once per day). There is also no hand soap in the bathrooms. The 8 person dorm near the front on the second floor has no ventilation, so it gets really smelly, really fast. The courtyard in...

Rooms are clean and furnished with attention to details. you have the possibility to take a hot shower in...

Had a great time in Urban Buddha, met a lot of good people. Good size hostel, nearby supermarket, good enough transport links (though the metro is a bit out the way), a little bit hard to find... Comfortable beds.

Urban Buddha Hostel is my happy place. I come here on the weekends to relax and regain my peace of mind. The hostel attracts a number of creative types, likely due to its beautiful and artistic decor. I have met wonderful musicians, artists, writers and the like under this roof. The space is tranquil and there is usually great music...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
BREAKFAST INCLUDED Buddha Hostels, inspiring & innovating. From the success of the Secret Buddha we are pleased to give birth to our new space, the Buddha Hostel Medellin. We have tailored our hostels as unique expressions, to reflect the essence of the green city of eternal spring. The Buddha is a hostel that fuses retro-Asian design with the original Art Deco architecture of a home built in 1953 located in Laureles, the most prestigious residential sector in the heart of Medellin. Located only 5 minutes from downtown, the Stadium, and the Zona Rosa (tourist party area), in front of the Bolivariana University and within walking distance from 70th st & 33rd ave (more traditional party streets), you can walk safely day & night in the realm of a serene green environment. The Buddha Hostel proposes a new concept which unites culture, art, adventure and foremost a place to unwind and relax, paving a natural platform of exchange between visitors and locals. Our 600m home splits in two levels, housing bright and airy dorms and private rooms, a spacious balcony, and a large patio area and garden with koi pond to complete the space. The Buddha Hostel will soon become a cultural home where art exhibitions, independent film and music can be enjoyed by each individual traveller regardless of nationality or age.An original refurbished 1950s massive kitchen is fully stocked with all the toys for all to use. Since food plays a major role for anyone travelling whether it is for need or for love, Buddha Hostels is a shrine to exotic flavours, which you are invited to feast on with our home cooked meals. We also have a front deck to chill as well as giant puffs facing a 42 HD LCD flatscreen with Direct TV 24hr, Playstation 3 and a DVD player with an extensive video library. For our adventure seeking friends if you wish to see Medellin from the sky you can do so in the most natural way there is to fly ; paragliding. Feel like having your feet closer to the Earth but wish to have a bit of a rush, then climb the second largest rock on the planet, horseback ride in la burroteca(horse disco) through the forest hillside of Medellin or Pub Crawl with us. Backpacking is a lifestyle, a journey, an opportunity for self-expression; it is not just about where you go but who you know along the way. Let Buddha Hostels deliver this with Love. ... more   less
