cracking old building in Opatija charging a mere €35 a night B&B for a single, out of season. Dates from the 1890s or so but feels a lot like a communist block put up by Tito or whoever to house the plebs on free weekends to keep them quiet. Long wide corridors, enormous dining room, large buffet of traditional offerings...

This hotel was nice, but not amazing. However, I asked for a room with a view, and they delivered! I had an impeccable view of the Sea, making the price definitely worth it! The breakfast was decent - better than most places I've stayed in Europe, and the location of the hotel is great. I found the front desk folks...

We have just spent the first 2 days of our Croatia tour in this hotel, and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. We received a very personalized welcome by the receptionist - he reminded me that we had requested a quiet room, preferably with a sea view, and he confirmed he was able to provide both. This evening when we arrived...

Lovely and old but still wonderfully nostalgic. The staff extremely helpful and polite. Wonderful large balcony overing looking the bay I would definitely return. After all the small rooms we have experience throughout Europe this was refreshing.

I was only staying for one night and wanted to test one of the old classic Opatija hotels. We got a good deal with half board included (Opatija is more expensive than other towns in Croatia though). I knew that the hotel wouldn't be renovated and up to date, but it was OK. We booked a room with balcony on...

When we arrived the car park was full but we were told if you sit in the car for half an hour or so someone "may" leave. We were allocated a free upgrade to a suite with a sea view as all standard rooms were full. The room was very dated with old furniture (a 1950`s television covered in dust)...

This hotel seems to have been a splendorous one, but it is now fading. Big corridors & rooms, speak of a past glory. Despite that, the staff is very polite, the room was old but comfortable & breakfast was correct. They leave chocolates as a "bienvenida". Opatija is not nowadays a city where you like to stay more than 1...

Well I really don't know what to say about the hotel Imperial. I have mixed feelings about it. The staff is professional and very friendly. The food was good. On the other part the room was disappointing. We were hoping for a nice room with a balcony over the beautiful riviera of Opatija. We get a first floor room with...

Smart Selection Hotel Imperial (3*) Opatija embodies the city's early days as a tourist destination. Built in 1885, this historic Croatian property was originally named after Stephanie, a Belgian princess by birth who later became Crown Princess of Austria. As the second hotel built on the Adriatic Sea, the Imperial is constructed in Art Nouveau architectural style of the Secession period. Its beauty has stood the test of time. Today, the hotel boasts 127 rooms adorned with high ceilings and antique furniture. Complete with conference and banquet rooms like the visually-stunning Golden Hall, Smart Selection Hotel Imperial can handle all your business and personal needs, including weddings. Plan your day on the terrace of the Vienna-styled Café Imperial as you enjoy delectable homemade cakes and coffee.
