It could so easily be 5 stars, but I’m afraid I can’t give it more than 3. The idea/concept is brilliant and so is the location. However this advantage is ruined by the fact that the inside covers on the portholes in the cabin cannot be kept open. Consequently you stay in a metal cabinet with no natural light, regardless of time of day. This was exacerbated by the fact that apart from a ceiling light all the other lights were mounted in the wall pointing upwards! So if one person wants to sit in bed and read you have to have the ceiling light on. Not smart. Otherwise the cabin and bathroom were fine. The advertised bar/cafe should be open from morning till late evening. We went there at 1230 pm only to be told that we could not buy a coffee nor were we allowed to stay there enjoying the view: “It is the manager’s. He is not here. Maybe you come back at 3 o’clock?” Well no we don’t. Neither did we go there for dinner as we’d otherwise planned. Plenty of good restaurants around with similar views. We chose those instead. They also advertise having a fitness room. When asking where to find this, we were told it had been closed! The staff in reception and the cleaners were all friendly and helpful. Full marks for that. Unless the idea of staying on a ship particularly takes your fancy I would probably rather choose one of the multitude of hotels around. You can undoubtably find them at a better price than Botel Marina and with better views.…
My wife and I have had decided to organize a wedding and celebration party with our friends at Botel Marina. Little that we know, this have turned in one of the most memorable events of our lives. Not only because the wedding by itself is one of the such, but also because of enormous efforts of our host's Andrej and Jelena who did it all to contribute that our day turned out to be perfect. From the excellently decorated interior to the deliciously prepared dishes, everything was organized to make us and our friends to feel comfortable. The cabins were clean and tidy, which contributed to a good our good rest the night after the celebration. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts 💕.
This is a real hidden gem! Such a great value, especially for solo or budget travelers! Modern designed rooms (Ikea like simplicity)and a decent size. You are in the best location in the city! Right along the marina and surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and steps away from the main city promenade and outdoor shopping mall. You can also park at the marina for 7KN/hour or 74 KN per day if you reserve an official hotel space. I slept very well, but keep in mind it is a boat, so if you are sensitive to motion then this might not be for you. I personally loved the very gentle sway of the boat in the night. It was relaxing. The upstairs cafe is another gem and well kept secret! Big comfortable leather couches with sweeping water views. Excellent, friendly service with very reasonable prices. I can’t wait to go back! Highly recommended. …
Yesterday we have been in a restauraurant by the Marina and we could not eat in peace because the music in that ship was horrifying. A lady with a manly voice was screaming at the microphone and you could've hear it real far, even to the city. Not cool
Small rooms with no air inside. One tiny window who can"t be open.Bad bedroom.Unprofessional staff and worst kitchen and service ever.Nothing good to say about this place.Rooms very dirty and small.Avoid if you can
We arrived on a Friday evening and there was no parking available anywhere close to the boat. We had to park quite far and then move the car the next day. The botel is quirky and we did like it, however the aircon cut out one night due to a storm and since there were no windows in the room, it got really hot very quickly and was very uncomfortable to sleep in. We had drinks on the top deck one night which was wonderful as we had great service and great views. Dinner was a bit disappointing. The next night we wanted to go up for drinks and relax on the top deck again, but were told that it was closed due to a wedding function which really limits your spaces to go - you can either stay in your room or go the front lobby. The staff are very friendly.
Great food but the menu didn’t appear to be that flexible for a vegetarian. However, the food arrived it’s was lovely. A beautiful setting overlooking Rijeka port on a large boat. Overall, a good meal and value for money.
We had a dinner, the food was really disappointing and embarrassingly bad. Also we expected a nice location at the harbour but it was a really old and ugly place. The only thing that wad ok was the service.
The reception was professional and friendly, also everyone on the ship. Perfect service and it's directly in the city. I recommend Botel Marina to everyone who want to stay in a bit dufferent place. I'll come back.
Let's begin with the pros: 1) The location is great, you are right in front of Riva street, very close to the main sites (Korzo, for example), very close to good restaurants and very close to the bus station (which is a great plus). 2) Breakfast: For around 7 Euros you get quite a nice and varied breakfast, with plenty of options (plus the view of the harbour from the breakfast room is also nice). 3) The experience of staying in a boat! To stay in a hostel-boat is one of a kind experience, one that is very difficult to replicate in other cities. Cons: 1) I stayed in the farthest room from the reception (down in the "dungeon" type of area) and the WiFi signal was not the best. Don't get me wrong, it was OK, but sometimes the signal went off. 2) The heating system didn't work properly, which in November is quite an important issue. I asked the front desk staff to do something about it, and they were very friendly in trying to solve the issue, but sadly the heating didn't work throughout my entire stay (some chilling nights in the bottom of the boat). 3) If you suffer from claustrophobia, try to get a room with somekind of window, because otherwise you won't have a nice stay. Overall, a nice and different place, but I am not sure If I would return to stay there...…
