After being treated rudely at one on Avalon's posher hotels, we stumbled across the Desert Sand. A super place. It is extremely clean. The rooms, the reception desk, the pools and the exterior property are spotless. The staff are upbeat and friendly. The Concord, a great little tavern, is within a block. Our room (123) was recently updated. The beds...

We just got back from a 4 night stay. Have been coming here since 2003. They have made many renovations over the years. Every year we come there is something new and improved. The place is immaculate. Staff is extremely accommodating. Rooms are spacious and it is a great location. One block from the beach. They have 2 pools if...

We have stayed at the Desert Sand for many years. This was our last visit. The chaise lounges around the pool and sitting areas are faded and uncomfortable. Too much trash laying around. The air conditioning in the rooms is much to loud and the walls are much to thin. Guests are allowed to smoke outside the rooms and in...

Dear Dan, We appreciate your comments and feedback. We also value your patronage of the Desert Sand. Regarding the chaise lounge chairs, this year we put into place a plan to replace the lounge chairs. However, do to the quantity and costs involved, the task of replacing all the chairs require us to spread this refurbishment over several years. Concerning...

Great reduced price for an efficiency with 3 queen beds plus a sleep sofa (LE room). A little musty smell might have been due to humidity but still there. Second summer arriving Labor Day and stayed for 3 nights. Little traffic, streets were basically empty, easy to find seating at restaurants. Like this place because it's one block from beach,...

We have been going here for years. The new upgrades in kitchen and tile flooring are nice. The beds were clearly in need of replacement. I felt like I was sleeping on a lumpy bed. Overall we had fun but not as comfortable as one would expect for the price.

A very nice hotel Very clean and spacious since we had an efficiency with kitchenette. Front desk even called to say we could use a more accessible bath next door for our daughter if we needed it. Beach tags come with stay and its a very short walk to the beach. Quiet and friendly. Would definitely stay there again!

I stayed at the Desert Sand last week for three nights. The room was ready at 4 pm when promised. They gave us beach tags to use that day which was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The sofa bed in the living area is a bit uncomfortable and the bed wasn't the best but it was adequate for my...

We had a very nice, but short stay here. We were allowed to check in early, as the room was ready. The staff is very pleasant, the hotel clean. It has a nice area with tables and umbrellas for eating outside. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have drinks, which were very good, but pricey even for NJ....

Desert Sand in Avalon gives me what I'm looking for in a very nice Motel but still somewhat reasonable. It's very close to the beach, 1 block away. Has an outdoor pool for those who want that and a small food stand at the pool so you can have lunch etc. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and the staff...

Spent 2 nights in a King room at the Desert Sand on 7/30 and 7/31. We checked in at about 4:15 and requested a room on floor 2 or 3 so we could enjoy the sunset higher up. I was told there was nothing else available and I should have requested a higher floor when I made my reservation months...
