+1
We stayed in the Magnum Resort in Candolim in December 2005.
We got a last minute deal paying £269 for 1 week B&B flying from Manchester. Maybe not a great deal but we were happy with it. Only problem so far is to say that 1 week is nowhere long enough, but thats all we had and for our first trip to India it was ok.
The flight was very long, about 7 hours from Man to Bharain and then about 3 from Bharain to Candolim. The break inbetween was nice though to stretch our legs. The Monarch plane was a bit rubbish, no individual tv screens (o.k. on a 4 hour flight, but not good for total 10 hour flight) They also forgot vegetarian meals for about 20 people, my girlfriend included and we booked them upfront, confirmed at checkin etc!
Anyway, Goa (Candolim) itself is amazing, great beaches, friendly people, great food and drink, very cheap and great weather.
The acomodation was ok, basic but we have seen a lot worse. The room had 2 single beds pushed together, a red fridge (!?!) which was very noisey and took 4 days to freeze a bottle of water (in the ice box I should say) and the air con was very noisey too. That said, its good that the room even had aircon and a fridge. It also had sky tv, the shower always had warm water as required and apart from that, the room was as you would expect.
India tends to get quite a few power cuts which can't be helped. Some nights, power in your room will go completely but the rooms either side of yours will be fine, the next night, it will be the exact opposite, its just pot luck.
The hotel staff were friendly, breakfast was ok, a little bit of fruit, cereal, break and jam, tea and coffee and then your choice of eggs (ommlette, scrambled, fried, boiled etc) with toast. Didn't eat there any other time so can't comment further.
The pool area was nice but because it is surrounded by accomodation on all sides, it doesn't get much sun except for about an hour or 2 an midday. For this reason we always sunbathed at the beach.
On the beach, we always sunbathed on the beds by the Tidal Wave shack because the quickest route to the beach brought us out there. Beds are the same price as everywhere else as far as I know, the staff there were friendly, always running back and to with drinks and stuff for us. Never rushed us for payment, we always settled at the end of the day fine and had a laugh with them. We ate lunch there every day and it was good, simple food and cold beers, what more could you ask!??!
Overall, an excellent holiday and we will be back for sure!!! If you have any questions about Candolim or the Magnum, please feel free to e-mail me on garethwayne@yahoo.co.uk

We had been to Goa before so we knew what to expect re the standard of rooms of 2/3 star hotels - worn sheets & towels, strange red fridges very basic furniture etc.
There are rooms at the front of the hotel they are 'standard rooms' quite large but due to them being at the front of the hotel - main road- they are very noisey, car horns beeping and wagons passing by. If you can afford the extra I would go for the 'superior' rooms which are around the pool - you may get a bit of music noise from the restaurant/bar but it shuts down by 10.30. Very clean.
Breakfast very nice if a bit chaotic, fresh pineapple, melon, cereal, milk, bread rolls toast and two eggs cooked to your choice. Tea and coffee.
The staff were lovely they certainly make up for the lack of home comforts they are so helpfull & friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
What I can recommend is the evening meal we were on a B&B basis but once we had tried the curries in the hotel we were very impressed - reasonably priced too. So good it would be worth going back to the hotel just for the food.
Butter chicken, Jeera Rice and Naan - heaven!!
As for a restaurant in the area I would highly recommend EUROPA, Holiday Street, Goan Heritage Road, Calangute. We return there every year and the quality is first class, very fresh, great value & no upset tummies!!!!!!

stayed at this property for five nights earlier this month, nice location in Candolim with lot of restaurants and shopping options, supermarkets around. this property is currently being managed by OYO hotels, room was pretty spacious with a balcony overlooking the main street n shops. AC was in good condition n decent bathroom with basic toiletries and towels that were changed periodically.
Brekafast was arranged in the restaurant with was repetitive with only 2 options - puri bhaji & phoa on one day; Parantha n upma on the 2nd day. Toast with jam, cornflakes and tea coffee was available. Omelettes were not part of the buffet which most of the other hotels in Goa include ...
Overall the stay was pretty good, staff was co-operative especially the staff at the reception desk were always smiling and quite helpful.
look forward to come back to Goa ... :)

We were given a deluxe room (no.216) at the third floor and no lift. Not even bothered to inform that seeing two senior citizens whether we shall be able to climb stairs.
Shouting in pool by drinkers and loud music will make your holiday hell. No initiative by hotel to stop that.
The food is terrible. Our breakfast was included. Have to stand in the dining room if you are a little late. We took dinner one day, it was tasteless.
During checkout, made us wait at reception at the pretext of checking out he room. Then came out with a little stained pillow cover and forced us to pay 150/- . Either it was on the back side of the pillow ( it didn’t came to our mind to check that) or planted.

I recently stayed at Magnum Resort with my friends and had an amazing time! The cleanliness of the resort was impressive, and the pool was a perfect spot for relaxation and fun. We had some of the most delicious food at the Wishing Well Restaurant – everything was simply mouth-watering. The staff were incredibly supportive and made sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Highly recommend Magnum Resort for anyone looking to have a great time in Goa!

I must recommend this resort to everyone looking for calm and beauty. it is truly great.
really pleasant and clean rooms with comfortable beds, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay is the staff and the location. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice. Close to Candolim Beach and all the famous clubs and Fort Aguda. Thank you so much for your hospitality. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable yet comfortable accommodation option. I would definitely choose this hotel again in the future.

Worse management. People here are so rude ., and made my day very bad.. they don’t have car parking. No room service.. never ever go .. not worth of money. They told its not out problem that you didn’t get parking., and in add they wrote that we have parking space .. otherwise I wouldn’t have booked .. didn’t helped at all for parking .. not picking my call for water order..

we stayed in the magnum in feb 05 the state of the hotel is what you would expect in India, The staff were good in general, but the changing of towels and sheets was a stuggle. Every other day we had to request they were changed at least thre time over a period of hours. There are not enough safety deposit boxes and we had to wait from sunday to thursday evening to get one. This of course invalidates your insurance, should anything be stolen etc. the managers solution was put it under your matress. We are returning to Candolim in Feb 06 but not the Magnum. This was not the first time we have been to India does not put us off returning.and does not put us off retuning.
