we feel respectfully toward our caretaker whom take care of us during or time at Lily of Nageen with his absolute courtesy, and hopefully we will have an opportunity enjoy spicy foods with him again in the future إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ The garden there is also very nice and the flowers are colorful. so fabulous to see, the location is distance us always from a busy road, quite serenely and far away from crowded area. in conclusion we had a memorable time at the houseboat and hopefully it will be be congruous for everyone who will be there in the future. Ps. don't forget to try a different types of Tea, it all good. Kasmirish's tea is one of the best
The location is very suitable for relaxation, not busy and not far from other tourist attractions. All the friendly staff. The food is delicious, the chef tries to make everything as requested. We stayed here for four nights out of seven nights. (Stayed for two nights and went to another city 3 nights and came back to stay for two nights). When we came back here again, we said together that we finally came home 😊 This place really feels like home. If there is a chance to come to Kashmir again Will definitely stay here again.
I checked in on 3rd October 2022 with my elderly mother . First thing the caretaker shared that our houseboats caretaker and chef are on leave due to some wedding . Hence we cannot get food . So I had to walk with him for about 1.5 Kms with the borrowed caretaker to get food. Please refer their website https://lilyofnageen.com/services-facilities/ Its states that it has room and restaurant which serves authentic kashmiri food . Also in cleartrip site its mentioned as below Dining: Stop by the houseboat's restaurant, Grillf, for lunch or dinner. Dining is also available at the coffee shop/cafe, and room service (during limited hours) is provided. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. A complimentary English breakfast is included. I spoke to the owner and was appalled at his tone and direction . Its totally misleading as mentioned above - in website and cleartrip that they have a restaurant . Its ethically wrong I had look for a hotel at night 8 pm and spend additional 7k from pocket to get to a hotel where i can get food . Apart from the same the full amount is charged to me by Lily of Nageen…
I stayed at Lily of the Nageen from August 20th to September 2nd, 2022. It's my second stay in the same houseboat since my last visit with my mother in 2015. This time, I came for a Kashmir Great Lakes trip specifically organised by Ajaz Karnai for me and my Malaysian friend Ja. We both requested a customised private arrangement for just the two of us. Alhamdulillah, we completed the entire trekking trip. Our journey begins in Sonamarg and ends in Naranag. Thank you, Ajaz Karnai, for your patience and effort in dealing with all of my drama while also serving as our guide and sweeper to ensuring that I finish the KGL trekking on time. It was considered a blessing because I arrived early for the KGL trip. The Ajaz family also invited me to a Kashmiri wedding of one of their close relatives. It's a lovely wedding ceremony. They serve delicious Kashmiri food at the event. I wish the bride and groom a long and happy marriage. I just didn't finish the Kashmir Great Lakes journey. I also manage to collect memories, friends, and family. This family has already captured my heart. I already miss Ajaz's mother, sister Samina, brother Tariq, beautiful girl Sahi, Mehraj, and also Ja. They are all Lily of Nageen's family. They do not always treat you as a tourist, but rather as a member of their family. I hope to return to Kashmir and see them again. Until then, I hope they are all safe and well. Thank you. Note: Houseboat Lily of Nageen next to Bagh e Shagoofa garden. Every morning, you can go for a brisk walk and admire all the beautiful flowers.…
Tired of generic hotel rooms, group tours, and superficial sightseeing. Staying on the houseboat, Lily of Nageen, on Nigeen Lake is exactly what you need to do. This exquisitely decorated houseboat with windows that open onto the lake is as unique as it is comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner aboard the boat each day of our stay. Dishes were authentically Kashmiri and were lovingly prepared by the matriarch of the family and served by a friendly and attentive Miraj. We were also treated to the history, customs, and stories of Kashmir by our local guide and family owner of the houseboat, Eizaj. He showed us the sites and provided the backstory for many famous visitor spots in Srinagar. He also took us off the beaten track for a beautiful hike in the forest and a view of village life in the mountains. Other highlights included the floating vegetable market, sunset shikhara boat ride, and a wazwan dinner. You will feel safe, inspired, educated, and full of delicious food. Highly recommended. PS There are many houseboats to choose from in Srinagar, but I doubt if any of them are nicer, friendlier, or more accommodating than Lily of Nageen.…
It was by luck and our good stars that we got to stay at Lily of Nageen....Thanks to a dear friend... Mr Imtiaz Karnai and the whole family took care of us so well like their own family. The house boats are very clean and cozy which made our stay a beautiful experience.... Sunset was mesmerizing from the terrace of the boat, sipping our hot evening Kahwa... I would highly recommend this place to anyone who would visit Srinagar for their stay. I am sure that you will not regret your decision. Its accessible via the main road with a beautiful park for your disposal. There are many good restaurants and cafes nearby as well.
Most people who visit Srinagar, and dream of staying on a boat house, come back disappointed. That’s because they stay on some commercial/tourist trap boat house on Dal Lake. But if you stay at Lily of Nageen, like I did, your experience will be quite different. This place IS A GEM, blindly stay here and you will see the more authentic side of Srinagar and Kashmir. Why I fell in love with this place, and will come back again and again: 1) Real authentic boat house with wooden walnut carving, with stunning views of the lake from each of the 2 bedrooms. Note - unlike tourist boat homes, this boat is docked parallel to the lake, which maximizes view of the lake 2) Run by a sweet Kashmiri family, they cook in neighbour boat house and they serve you what they themselves eat and drink - real Kawha tea, Kashmiri wazwan, I traveled solo, and was missing my family, I felt like I have a family in Lily now (the owner Imtiyaz, his mom and sister, their daughter) 3) Imtiyaz bhai and I became like brothers, he took me on his scooter to all the cool places and places off the beaten path, without any expectation of money or tip. We spoke about life, ups and downs, the Kashmir valley, while eating good food. I saw a side of Srinagar that tourists typically don’t. 4) Their own Skihkara with Aamin chacha (Aamin uncle) - Every morning at 4:30 am, I would go to the local floating vegetable market for 3 hours each, some of the most precious moments of my trip as a photographer happened at sunrise. And then Imtiyaz and I would chat over sunset from the terrace of his boat house. Love this place, home away from home.…
One of the best experiences of my travels was staying in Lily of Nageen, the hosts Tariq Bhai and Eizaj Bhai took care of all of us and gave us the best experience in Srinagar. They are well experienced when it comes to hospitality, it felt like a home away from home. The morning breakfast was divine and the sunsets from this houseboat are magical. The best part of staying here is you don't need a shikhara to reach here, there's good road connectivity and plenty of good cafes and restaurants are just a walk away. I have marked this place and recommended it to everyone who wants to explore Srinagar.
Stumbled upon this gem via Google and it was an experience both in terms of comfort and hospitality. Neat and clean rooms and homely food was served to us. Very serene and calm place to enjoy the views around. Would love to come back again sometime in future for a longer duration. Definitely recommended if you are looking for an houseboat experience.
WE arrived on 12 august before going for the kgl trek and has booked the house boat for 2 days we hade great time with imtiyaz bhai and his team they greated and supported us like we were part of there family in every possible way we were so happy with them we decided to stay with them after the trek also and had a great time with them the view from the house boat is great and food was also very simple & homely it is very quite and less crowded as compare to dal lake and the view from the room of the lake ,sunset & fort is great highly recommended to stay and the best part is the house boat rooms are facing the lake & sun set which is very rear and approachable by road from the Bagh-e-Shagoofa garden they have arrange us the transportation for travelling to Gulmarg & pahalgam and the drivers were also very helpful & showed us all the different places on the way and help us in getting what ever things we need to buy MR IMTIYAZ bhai is great soul and very helpful human being he is a great example of Kashmiri hospitality…
