It's been a year since my two night stay at Le Colonial, but it is still fresh in my mind. This historical home converted to a very excellent guest house was where we spent the final two nights of our travels in India, and it could not have been more perfect. The welcome was personal and engaging. We were invited to relax in the beautifully furnished main room which retains the feeling of history while being fresh and elegant. We were asked our preferences for dinner that evening and found we happened to be the only guests during out stay, so all our meals were essentially customized to our tastes. We were not disappointed! We opted for local dishes and everything was very fresh, beautifully prepared and presented. Delicious! We had reserved the Viceroy Room, a very spacious and…
What a beautiful hotel. We re routed here as Munnar was out of the question due to the floods. We had a wonderful two night stay, all the staff made us very welcome especially Suresh who was very helpful when my husband thought he'd lost his watch. The furnishings are elegant and classy, everywhere was spotlessly clean. Le Colonial is well situated for exploring Fort Kochi. I don't have enough superlatives to describe the food. It was top notch, the homemade coconut ice cream was out of this world as was the seafood platter. What a talented Chef. We were sad to leave, it was such a relaxing stay. Le Colonial is a real jewel in the crown.
We went to the hotel for lunch as were staying just around the corner and so wanted to see this hotel that was on the tv programme. The staff were so welcoming and lovely and even showed us around the building which is beautiful, We shall definitely stay there on our next visit!! The set lunch was so delicious and we went away very happy ladies!! So pleased we had not been deterred by the security guard that had told us you had to be resident to dine at the hotel, which was contrary to the info on the website and we telephoned and booked a table for lunch. It was a highlight of our holiday so thank you to the staff and owners.
Lovely rooms in keeping with the colonial style. They were clean and comfortable. The hotel has only eight rooms with enough lounges to get privacy. Reminded me a lot of Real Marigold the film and it came as no surprise that BBC used for there season 2 Real Marigold Staff are very helpful and courteous and can’t do enough for you to be comfortable! Food is excellent and you can order as you like in the morning Subash and his team do a great job and really made our stay enjoyable! Highly recommend!
This is our second visit to Cochin and what a little gem this hotel is, it’s like home from home, the furnishings and decor are amazing, it’s very well situated and the staff can’t do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And yes it is where they filmed the second series on the BBC. Fabulous.
Hidden behind the adjacent street market the hotel was difficult for our taxi driver to find.Close to the Chinese nets and the promenade of Cochin Fort this hotel was a very pleasant surprise. A small hotel with 6 bedrooms. Ours " Jan Van Spall" was large with two double beds, a well appointed bathroom, a beautiful Malabar spruce floor and a large balcony over looking the hotel's small pool and garden. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Dinner was included in the price of our room. There was no menu, just what the chef fancied cooking, which was very good. A great start to out holiday. We stayed two nights which was sufficient to acclimatise and see what there was to see in Fort Cochin
Really was looking forward to staying here - had booked multiple rooms and prepaid 180,000 inr. But then I emailed the hotel a few days before the stay (this was for Christmas 2016) and they said they didn't have my booking. They said the price was now ~2x what we had already paid and had confirmations for. So my guess is that the hotel saw they were able to get more due to being pretty full and canceled our stay as it was at the cheapest rate. The hotel says that they never received our booking. This is completely untrue. As soon as we booked, the rooms were taken out of the hotel's inventory, indicating that the reservation did go through. Each room here is individually named and individually booked, so it was easy to tell that the rooms we were booking were reserved for us,…
I found out about Le Colonial several months ago when I was planning a trip to India for myself and my girlfriend - the first India visit for both of us. I knew right away that I wanted for us to spend our last couple of nights in India at Le Colonial, so I had high expectations even before getting there. I had booked the Viceroy room, and was very much looking forward both to staying in this very special room and to the general experience of Le Colonial itself. From the moment we pulled up in front of the gate and Smita, the manager, came out with her staff to wish us welcome, until the early morning when we unfortunately had to leave this very special place we had the most wonderful experience. Smita, who is the ultimate when it comes to combining the professional aspects of…
I booked here for my husband and I after returning from a stressful summer holiday. We managed to go for a week during Eid, and I am so happy we made this decision. From the moment we stepped through the gates, we were welcomed by Smita and the staff. They were all friendly and a nice refreshing drink was offered. As the occupancy was quiet at the time, they surprisingly upgraded our room, and it was amazing! The whole house was very traditional, well worth the name Le Colonial. In fact my husband half expected a Michael Caine, think Zulu, to walk down the stairs! The decor and furniture is in keeping with this feel which adds to the warmth. The food was exceptional, nothing was too much for the kitchen staff and chef. I felt like a princess being looked after in this little…
This place is really nice to look at. Has good style in tune with its "heritage". Breakfast was really good, with plenty of options available. Location is amazing, so central to all key places. The pool area is nice too. Staff were okay, not that friendly in comparison to other places I've stayed in India. Having asked for our room service bill 5 times the day before departure as we were checking out at 6am for an early flight the staff still didn't bother to get it together. At 6am, when leaving they chased us out to pay the 600 rupees, the members of staff then needed to use a calculator to work out the change from a 2000 note and even then still managed to short change us, but in such a rush we had no time to dispute this. A note would be for staff development to be worked…
