We loved our four-day stay at the boutique Le Colonial Hotel. This is a small property that has been furnished with a passion for historic detail and atmosphere. It really feels more like a beautiful home than a hotel. The staff went out of their way to keep us smiling, not to mention the tasty meals prepared by the resident chef. If you love a private place away from the large crowds, this place is for you. Location is close enough to all the famous sites of Kochi but in a quiet corner next to St. Francis Church. Highly recommended for the traveler that wants to be close to the local touch and feel, yet have a tranquil retreat for privacy when desired.
We stayed at Le Colonial for 3 nights in February on the last leg of our tour of Kerala and we were delighted in every way. We had stayed in some great hotels but this was by far the best. Smita and the two boys, Samesh and Vippin looked after our every need with charm and professionalism. The room was great and the pool and gardens were immaculate. Last but not least we must praise the chef for his lovely food, fresh and cooked to order. We highly recommend this hotel. Christopher and Judy Thompson, Derby U.K.
Stayed two nights at this hotel at the beginning of a bike tour in Kerala. It was superb. The staff was curteous and professional. The grounds were lovely, the food was good and the rooms were very comfortable. It is a beautiful, historic hotel. I would surely recommend Le Colonial to any one.
I stayed 2 nights squeezed into a packed itinerary but to take full advantage it needed to be much longer. Fort Cochin is a place where you should take time to just wander and soak up the atmosphere, and in the hotel itself there are luxurious areas (lounge, library, verandah, courtyard pool area), where it would be nice to spend time relaxing. Le Colonial is a fine early colonial era house which has been lavishly and sensitively restored. The result is a perfect balance of historic charm, style and contemporary amenities. Forget any ideas you might have that ‘heritage’ means compromising on comfort, this is a supremely comfortable house to stay in. I booked the Viceroy room, which is large, well appointed and beautiful furnished with fine antiques. It has a deep verandah…
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Le Colonial, and would recommend to anyone who is considering visiting. The rooms are great, food excellent and above all the service offered by Smita and her team were unbeatable. From early morning breakfasts, organising trips and arranging taxis to rickshaws made our stay especially over new year really memorable. The decor and the ambiance of the hotel are also fantastic.
What a beautiful place. Ideally located in the heart of Fort Cochi, Le Colonial is fantastic place to relax after a day's sightseeing. The rooms and common areas are luxurious and the pool is a real bonus but what really makes this place is Smita and her team. They looked after us so well - booking trips and offering advice and tips about the local area, which always proved to be spot on and really helped us to make the most our time in the area. The food was wonderful too. Can't recommend highly enough.
Le Colonial is a wonderful property, steeped in history, providing a peaceful place to relax and recharge the batteries after a long journey, while having the hustle and bustle of Fort Cochi to explore on the doorstep. The warm welcome and 'just right' hosting of Vippin and Samesh, alongside delicious food and truly beautiful decor made this the perfect start to our holiday in Kerala.
When one stays in the 'oldest house in Asia' one might expect something sad and tatty. Well, that is certainly not true of The Colonial! A beautiful property with incredibly interesting architecture and furniture, paintings and memorabilia to investigate while it feels warm, homely and welcoming. This ambience is in no small way down to the team who manages this intimate residence. Unobtrusive young men seemed to anticipate our every need whether it was a cold drink, chairs by the pool, coffee or just a chat with some local advice. They were charming and delightful, a credit to Smita's training and high expectations. We loved being asked what we wanted to eat for dinner, what a novel idea! But in reality we were perfectly happy to be guided and advised, and then absolutely…
Le Colonial left a lasting impression. It's a beautiful colonial house dating back to 1506. The rooms ( Viceroy and Jan Van Spall) have fantastic balconies and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The common areas are fabulous, comfortable with some great art to view depicting colonial times. The food is excellent and staff make every effort, offering seconds so nobody is hungry at any point. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available and can be agreed as one chooses. Massages are available in house and we were happy to avail of this option. They were very enjoyable. Staff; well what can I say; Smita who manages the house is without a doubt the nicest and most helpful person we have met on out travels and we left with fond memories. Smita was just an excellent…
We couldn't have made a better choice. The hostess was wonderful and the personalised interaction made us feel very at home and comfortable. We believe we made a new friend here. The staff was very helpful at all times and very warm. They all made sure we were comfortable at all times, at times even went out of their way to help us even though they did not have to do it. I would recommend this place over any other place. Overall, we look forward to coming back to kochi just because of such a wonderful experience at this hotel.
