Perfect place during covid. About 45 minutes from Cochin, ideal place for a short visit with family and friends. Pros Great view Well kept , large rooms with great bathrooms Friendly staff and accommodative to personal requests. Got us our food to the pool and was around to make sure we were comfortable. Clean pool that over looks the back waters Cons Not much to do as it is a small resort , so make sure you have enough planned Food is average, recommend to stick to local cuisine BYOB Highly recommend it if you are going in larger groups and occupy most of the rooms.

Hotel's Favourite
If I were to have an option I would rate Cranganor 10 out of 5 . Its that good . We recently stayed at this gorgeous property for 2 nights and what can I say? There are two aspects to this beautiul place about which I will be talking .. One - the staff and Two - the property Let me begin with the staff .Starting from the time of arrival to the time of departure , the staff takes such good care of you and pampers you without being intrusive that you don't feel like leaving the place. Initially we had booked a pool side villa just so we could keep an eye on our two kids right from the verandah of the villa . Unfortunately the pool was supposed to be cleaned on the first day and was unusable . But to our pleasant surprise , we were upgraded to a villa with a bathtub just so my daughter would not get disappointed .The next day of course we were able to use the beautiful pool. The standard now on and now off smile on the face that we so often encounter in the regular 5 star hotels staff in the cities is replaced with a genuine broad smile on the Cranganor staff's face that warms your heart. I would like to especially mention Justin , Aashik and Sofia and two kitchen and housekeeping staff whose names I do not know , who took care of every small need , like when we wanted to purchase some local spices (it was procured for us ) or when we wanted to visit a local handmade soap factory ( it was arranged ). As to the beauty of the place I think photographs will not do justice to it .One has to visit the place to experience it . The broad river with flowing water and the fishermen going about on their boats , the various birds , the trees in the property , the lush lawn , one can go on and on . The villas also have been constructed in such a way that they are all interconnected to each other by a redoxide flooring broad strip which leads from the reception area .There are just 7 villas . 5 on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor and all of them face the river. Our kids never wanted to leave the resort during the entire stay which was a big surprise for us as we have never seen them to be interested in resorts like this. For us that spoke volumes about this laid back small beautiful resort with big hearted staff. Looking forward to our next trip .

This is a picturesque hotel, located on the bank of a beautiful river. From arrival, it feels special, as you are received in the open-air lobby with beautiful antique furnishings. Our stay was brief, just one night, prior to flying up North. At first glance, the property is stunning, with many amenities...boats, kayaks, tree swing, hammocks, lounge chairs outside of the rooms and a lap pool. The restaurant is open air and there is even a spa with multiple massage rooms. We took advantage of many of the things on offer, for purchase, such as massages, sunset boat ride through the backwaters and dinner on site. My massage wasn't very good but the masseuse was a lovely human and we enjoyed conversing very much. In fact, it was a memorable conversation, one I will always cherish. Post massage, I was unable to shower, as there was only cold water. That was unfortunate, as I had to awkwardly pass other guests in a towel, all greased up underneath, heading back to our room for a warm shower. The sunset boat ride was fantastic. We observed local life on the shores of river and enjoyed the calm waters and wildlife. Dinner was thoroughly disappointing. In fact, we barely touched it. It was by far, the worst we'd had in India. Our room was beautiful but had a very strong odor of sewage, inside and around. This smell was not localized to our room only, it's one that we experienced on the grounds of the property, as well. When we spoke to the manager about it, he sent someone to 'take care of it' but when we returned we learned that housekeeping had simply sprayed sickeningly strong potpourri that lingered for hours, accomplishing nothing. We climbed into bed for a quick pre- dinner nap and discovered that the bed, all the way down to the mattress, smelled of sweat. They brought new sheets and they smelled, as well. They offered to move us but we were quite sure we would encounter more of the same in a different room. We also had a flight in the middle of the night and didn't have time or energy to relocate. We settled on the best of the bad sheet options and moved on. At dinner, they arranged for our wake up call with tea and breakfast. Unfortunately, they overslept and when we were walking out the door, they arrived with our breakfast. Maybe they have worked out the kinks at the Cranganor but there sure were a lot and it also happened to be one of the more expensive places in the area. We would not stay here again but do wish the fine people working here much future success, as the place is gorgeous and they were all incredibly kind. I would also like to add that they offered beautiful, artisan all natural toiletries that I very much enjoyed.

The resort in itself is gorgeous, with plush furniture and thoughtful furnishings, and a sparkling clean pool; the banks of the river allowing for great sunsets. The food was great too, as were the endless tender coconuts from the trees, and the freshly squeezed fruit juice. But what is the real game changer is the staff. Aashiq, Justin and the rest of the team were amazing; Ever smiling, gentle and accommodating of our every request. Special shoutout to Aashiq for remembering the tiniest details! They really make the place and the experience what it is. Can't wait to come back to this beautiful place!

Cranganor is an extraordinary place of timeless beauty with 360-degree breathtaking views of river and trees. The chateau is designed aesthetically and is seamlessly in sync with its natural surroundings. Dusk and dawn viewed from the resort's several vantage points are a delight to the senses, each one different and beautiful in its own way. If you wish to be rejuvenated, refreshed and replete with Kerala's unique natural beauty, then this is the place to be. Special word of thanks to the staff - Justin, Aashiq and all the smiling ladies in housekeeping/kitchen who looked after us like their own. This is a charming place that you know you will revisit, again and again.
