Xandari Harbour is in the heart of Fort Cochin's spice trading district, Mattanchery; we have restored this waterfront merchant's property to offer modern hospitality while paying respect to history. Situated on Bazar Road, where art galleries and cafes now neighbour bustling warehouses of pepper, cinnamon and cardamom. Accommodation:Our 16 guest rooms offer intimate experience of the location. The suite facing Cochin Harbour is unrivaledin Kerala. Another suite offers the quintessential view of Bazar Road, from an elevated perspective, as well as views of the harbour. Four waterfront rooms offerspectacularviews across the harbour, two with extended patio to the water's edge. Among the other 10 rooms, fourat ground levelhave private gardens and those on the first floor have large picture windows with diagonal views to the harbour and three with views onto Bazar Road. All rooms pay tribute to Kerala's spice-tradinghistory as well asIndia's contemporary aesthetic. Restaurant: Our signature restaurant serves hotel guests and the widermetropolitan community, with a 2-story waterfront view. The fresh look at Malabar cuisinecuisine reflects Kerala's spice trade history. Thelounge offers a living room atmosphere for conversation, backgammon or chess (and tv for those in need). At a Glance:In between the lodging space and the restaurant space is a harbour front swimming pool and public area with outdoor seating. In all public areas Xandari Harbour is providing exhibition spaces for Indian artists to display and sell their artwork. Complimentary 24/7 wifi access throughout the property. Most visitors to Kerala consider Fort Cochin historic area a must; Xandari Harbour is designed for the traveller who also wants to support innovative conservation through our collaboration with neighbours in the local community to keep history alive and culture thriving. Walking tours from our front door take you to the Dutch Palace, Chinese Fishing Nets, Paradesi Synagogue and other cross-cultural wonders. Fishermen dock their antique-yet-productive boats on both sides of our property, and welcome the occasional visitor after the day's catch. Visit our Raxa Shop, with uniquely crafted gift items sourced from communities throughout Kerala.

Interesting hotel by the sea with good restaurant and attentive service ideally located for walking tours of the old Fort Cochin area, Chinese fishing nets, fish market, castle museum, synagogue, etc. We stayed in one of the ground floor units (rooms 1-4) which had a small private walled patio garden a, massive bedroom and large high ceilinged bathroom. Nice pool area in the centre of the property, surrounded on 3 sides by the hotel and restaurant.

We found this hotel by chance but could not have been more happy or chosen anywhere better.

The hotel is conveniently located between the Fort and Jew town with only a short stroll to all the main attractions.

It provides a calm and cool oasis amidst the heat of the streets of Kochi with a lovely garden and pool to cool off after a day of sightseeing.

The rooms were spacious and clean but most impressive of all were the staff who made us feel welcome and spoilt beyond any normal expectation.

The front desk team helped us to organise a tour of Kerala using other Xandari hotels. Next is Xandari Pearl at Marari beach, can’t wait !

Highly recommended

Loved this little gem of a hotel on the harbor side of the island away from all the main tourist spots. Nicely located between Fort Cochin and Jew Town and walkable to either area. Great staff, lovely pool, awesome views. They could not have been nicer or more helpful. Pretty small and intimate ... quiet.

Having been to the hotel two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay we looked forward to a longer visit.
We were met by Edwin, a very cheeful chap, although two other men were sat at the table by the entrance and didn't even acknowledge our arrival - so different to the other Xandari hotels.
There was a mix up with our room which was our own fault. Kevin very kindly offered us the room we thought we had booked, with the option of changing if we wanted. On the way to our room we noted the pool was extremely green, couldn't see the second step!
Sadly the Indian Navy has started to build a jetty in the estuary which will greatly impede the view to the west from the ground floor harbour rooms. We were lucky that the piling had stopped due to a strike.
We spent time in Cochin and travelled using the ferry system across the barbour having done the usual sight seeing two years previously - thank you Prabeesh for travelling with us and introducing us to new places in the city.
The food at the Harbour's restaurant, 51, has not improved since our previous visit, sadly, but Samir was a helpful and happy chap - he couldn't have done more serving us.
We had complained about the pool and it was dealt with however, we cut our visit short going back to Xandari Pearl, as we could not use the pool due to the long process to rectify the problem.
At no point did the manageress acknowledge us or talk to us to address our complaints and obviously the management team never walk around the hotel!
Overall a great hotel spoilt by poor management. Not Xandari's standard for sure.

Lovely 4 star hotel ideally suited for old town Cochin. Not many rooms, one block up to second floor. We have a ground floor room right by the entrance with our own garden. A little noisey at night with comings and goings thou.
Restaurant pricey for average food although Indian and Western food served. Our Pizzas were a tad over baked.
Unfortunately, the Indian Navy are building a new jetty which is virtually in front of the hotel on the waterfront which spoilt the view and the building work starts at night and continued through the night presumably because of the heat. At the moment very noisey for sleeping. We were there end of January (25th) and it looks as though the works will continue for at least another few months

Loved this small hotel in a fabulous location close to the markets and fishing nets. The food in the restaurant was lovely with fabulous service. The only downside was that it was so close to the mosque, just not used to being woken with the noise at that time of the morning.

We spent 5 days in this refined and simple place in Mattancherry, during the amazing and successful Kochi Biennale.
Well located, you can reach in 5 minutes by walk the boat jetty, near the fantastic Pepper House, 5 minutes too with a rikshaw to reach Princess Street or the synagogue.
The staff (Christine Rose, Arun, Rijo... all of them) is really nice, efficient and professional.
We enjoyed also tasting the mediterranean cooking from the 51 restaurant.
A place we highly recommand and where we will be glad to go back again.
Best regards,
Stephanie (Paris, France)

Warm and genuinely friendly staff, clean modern rooms with a lovely ambience. We enjoyed every minute of our our 4 night stay in their harbour view room. A lovely place to come back to after exploring Cochin. Spice Harbour is a new hotel with a wonderful view of the harbour where there is always something happening - you even get to see dolphins! They also serve the most exotic mocktails. I would definitely recommend it to friends

Hi Hamash, The restaurant is still in process to receive a beer and wine license, so at the moment it isn't served. However there are really interesting non-alcoholic drinks made from fresh ingredients. The food and view are so good you almost forget you don't have a glass of wine in your hand!
