Old Harbour Hotel is set in the heart of theold Forte area of Cochin. It is a beautiful heritage hotel with large comfortable rooms. Our room had a seating area outside which overlooked the green, lush courtyard and was the perfect place to sit with a drink and a good book. A gorgeous outside area with tables and chairs was lit with candles and tree lights in the evening. A large, outside swimming pool provided the perfect respite to the hot, steamy weather in Cochin. There were plenty of sun loungers to relax on and wile away a few hours. Due to the construction of the building - thick walls- wifi was only available in the coming parts. Not a problem at all as it encourages a tech detox. The breakfast is exceptional with a wide range of choices on offer. The banana pancake was superb! The evening/daytime menu was just as good. I highly recommend this hotel. Our guide said it was the best in town. I couldn’t agree more! …
We stayed 3 nights at this beautiful hotel, our second visit. We were made really welcome by the whole staff, but especially Vineetha and Jude. We arrived straight from the airport but they kindly provided cool drinks and allowed us to check in a little early. The evening meals in their restaurant are outstanding, the gardens and music are very atmospheric. Thank you for your many kindnesses during our stay.
We had a one night stay at the end of our trip in Kerala and we stayed in the bastion suite, the hotel is lovely and the staff are also! The food was great and we were very well looked after by very attentive staff members, the area outside is very busy but this place was a true oasis from it all.
We’re a couple in our 30s, we stayed in the Old Harbour Hotel for our first night in India at the start of our honeymoon and it was the perfect start to the trip. From start to finish, they took care of us- they noted our request for an early check in and had our room ready on arrival which was so appreciated after a long journey from Ireland. The hotel felt like an oasis of calm, beautifully styled and a home away from home. The room was spacious and cool with really good AC. We ate dinner in the garden restaurant and loved the live music while we dined, it was a lovely experience. The food was fantastic and even better we could get wine/beer at the hotel. There were a few mosquitos around but no more than anywhere else we’ve been in Kerala! Although our stay was short, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel!…
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. It is a heritage building with beautiful rooms and garden, and a great restaurant. My husband got sick during our time in Kochi, and the staff were excellent at providing hot tea and plain food to help him feel better. They were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
The Old Harbour Hotel is a wonderful place stay when visiting Fort Kochi. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the lush garden with pool almost looks like a postcard, but it is all real. Add to that a fine restaurant and you understand why my daughter and I loved the place. The staff is not only very helpful pleasant in their interactions with the guests.
My husband and I stayed at the Old Harbour hotel in Fort Kochi for 3 nights. It was so wonderful! The room was spacious and lovely. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The staff were very friendly and we even liked the 2 dogs and 3 cats! We highly recommend this lovely hotel in old town Kochi.
This hotel was given such good reviews that we felt confident booking. The first thing you notice when you arrive is that there is no concierge or central desk. The hotel says it wants the place to feel like a home. This is a really bad idea as it makes you feel totally unwelcome when you arrive. The bathroom in our ground floor room was actually part of the bedroom with only a thin wall and no ceiling so that there was little privacy. Also, we had to keep the curtains drawn as anybody on the street could look in or anybody in the hotel garden. We actually stayed here twice as we had a backwater tour booked, when we checked in the second time we were given a garden room. We told the staff that we had a 6am taxi booked and they said somebody would be around. Instead, we found ourselves stuck in the garden and locked out of the hotel - despite calling reception (there was nobody on duty) and banging on the door. We ended up having to get out from the garden gate into the street. On the plus side, the location was central and the staff were friendly and did their best to help - I just think the whole concept of the hotel is misguided. If you want a proper hotel in this location, go to Bruntons Boatyard…
I sent a request through booking.com for a free cancellation due to illness. I have been using the service since 2010 and for the first time since that time the hotel refused to cancel the booking, taking payment for the entire period of the failed stay. They deducted more than 300 dollars from my card without acceptance, making money out of thin air, informing me that "we did it." Disgusting service at the very beginning, when even it was not provided. I will not be poorer from this write-off, but not me, not any person from my environment will not come to the hotel. for a hotel owner, this is not a $300 earnings, but a loss of several thousand dollars... I can understand when the hotel writes off money due to cancellation of the reservation, if there are no rooms available. this hotel has several rooms available during my period, with my cancellation they do not refuse another client and still write off the money……
The hotel is located in a beautifully conserved heritage building close to the hubbub of Fork Kochi and the many sites. The tower room, where we stayed, was enormous and beautifully appointed. Wonderful French windows opening out onto a plant filled courtyard and private terrace. A particular feature of this hotel are the wonderful antique statues and contemporary art, particularly in our bathroom. The food in the restaurant was good, we attended the new year gala dinner which was very well organised. The staff were lovely.
