I booked two rooms at this hotel quite last minute. We were to stay two nights but Kerala had a general strike, so only got to stay 1 night.
After becoming lost driving into Fort Kochi, we found the ferry and arrived at this hotel to a warm welcome by staff with a cool drink & much needed help with luggage. We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms, which were older but clean and had most everything we required. Bathrooms had hot and cold water, good shower & wifi was available downstairs in reception. The breakfast was cooked fresh & omelettes were tasty & not too chilly hot. The juice was freshly squeezed and sweet. Coffee and tea made fresh and service came quickly. Better than some other hotels at three times the price.
Other guests were friendly and staff especially Appu were attentive & happy to give advice when asked. The location is close to the square, the street market vendors, St Francis church, Chinese Fishing Nets and the ferry to Vilpin. Easy to walk around & lovely to take a small stroll and find cafes and small eateries around the corner.
Would we stay here again. Most certainly. Value for money, super location, personal service &
loved unexpectedly hearing the aussie/english accent at the front desk.

We booked for three nights at VDGinn, but ended up staying for a week. This place has it all; AC & fan, hot shower, breakfast included and a perfect location in Fort Kochi. The manager provided information on everything from how to find the best beach to where to buy the best cup of coffee. Given that this is a budget choice we are very satisfied with our stay. Definitely value for the money!

Been to Cochin twice, stayed at Vasco Da Gama Inn both times.

The hotel is located right in the middle of Fort Kochi but tucked away in a bylane away from the clutter and noice when all you want to do is get a shut eye. Clean spacious rooms, spotless towels, sheets and air con made our stay a very comfortable one.

A special shout out to the people at the front desk: Very friendly, accomodating and nice people, the front desk was manned at all times and all our requests were catered to within minutes.

On the whole a fantastic experience.

P.S: Ask for some of the homemade jam for breakfast, tasted fab!!!

What a great place to stay! I stayed here one night with my brother while traveling through Kerala. The room was nice and clean, and even had a balcony. The included breakfast was excellent, with coffee, toast, cereal, omelette, and cranberry iced tea.

Apu at the front desk is awesome! He had some great recommendations for us and helped us out a lot. We saw the St Joseph feast at Kannamali, a nice experience of "real" India.

I will definitely be back here, and if you're in the area, don't stay anywhere else.

Stayed one night on a return trip to Ooty. We have stayed before. Location central and walking distance to most places. Clean room, hot water and friendly staff. We would stay again. Our only issue is that breakfast lady does not start till 8am and all guests appeared at once including a large group of extended family. We only managed toast as we had to leave for the station at 8.45. Noticeably Cochin is becoming more trendy with posh hotels and coffee shops.
The only place we went tuk tuk drivers trying to take you places and get commission.

The hotel cannot provide any meals, not even a cup of tea. And this was not communicated to our travel agent or us at the time of booking. When my mother and mother-in-law asked for a cup of tea, there was no one around to give it. Finally, the owner came from his home and made a cup of tea. They are supposed to take a flight tomorrow morning but won't be provided any breakfast, or even a cup of tea in the morning.
The room and bathroom are clean but lacks amenities. No hand shower, no geyser.

The location is perfect, breakfast is pretty big and will fill you up, the staff are really helpful and will go the extra mile to help plan tours/buses taxis, there is abit of a language barrier with a few of the staff but nothing major. There were a few bugs in the room which were quite annoying, and the price given on brochure was last years so was more expensive then we planned, and wifi is of India standard ( doesn't work in rooms ) still overall a very good stay with very friendly staff :-)

situation is great but please remember take the telephone number with you when trying to find It from the Airport. The staff are very helpful and they give a very good breakfast with omelette.the down side is our room was nor very clean I had to request the balcony to be cleaned and our pillow cases to be replaced as they were stained the room was very small with no hanging space to speak of so we did not get unpacked ,
the floors were dirty as our feet were filthy we had to wash them to go to bed.Now the bed is another story it was uncomfortable because they are so thin it was like sleeping on a hard board.if I was 30 years younger I may not have noticed all these problems but we are in our late 60 and need more comfort .But I would still recommend this to younger travellers.

Manager don't know how to behave and he is not at all cooperative. Total Arrogant
You pay for AC and AC won't work
Mosquitoes will not let you sleep
No hot water
If you want to take revenge tell them to stay here and see their frustration.

Vasco Da Gama has all the ingredients for a great stay in Fort Cochin. The rooms are basic and clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly and it's located just steps away from the ocean and chinese fishing nets. There's a great travel desk at the hotel and they will answer any questions you may have. Vinnie and his staff took great care of me while I was there and I highly recommend this lovely small hotel.
