Arrived very late at night after being stuck in a blockade all day to find a friendly staff and food and drinks which were freshly prepared. We had to leave early the next day to visit the forest again the hotel had a light breakfast for us and when we returned after a trip a full breakfast was waiting for...

Had a good time. The resort lacked good infrastructure for aged travellers although wheelchair service was provided. Rooms were clean and a firmer mattress was provided upon request. The biggest let down was the packed breakfast. It prepared a day in advance and was infested with ants. It left us with a bitter taste (no pun intended) after a nice...

My three year old grandson from US refused to leave as he thoroughly enjoyed his stay. Great ambience, peaceful, staffs are very friendly making our stay a memorable one.The eco - tourism focus of the place with the 50mile diet restaurant was so thoughtful and made us feel like we were in someone's home. The flute in the afternoon and...

Spice village sets out to be eco friendly and this care for nature extends to the service for guests. The cottage rooms are well furnished, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the staff there were very helpful and attentive. The plus is the closeness to the Periyar wildlife sanctuary where you can go on an...

We stayed here 2 nights on our way from Kerala to Madurai. The individual bungalows are very spacious and have full amenities including tea and coffee. The staff was very helpful and service was very good. The best part is being so close to the shopping area as we could walk right out and buy souvenirs at a very good...

We stayed here on New Years Eve, they were also celebrating being open for 25 years and we was also celebrating our daughters 21st birthday, so it really was celebrations all round! The place itself is a beautiful retreat from the busyness of life, a perfect setting, very relaxing. Each member of staff always had a smile and couldn't do...

Came here on the recommendation of our travel agent and was delighted from the moment we arrived. This place has an ethos that should be copied elsewhere. No plastic, recycling, organic healthy food and will customise to your need, even the ckeaning products are natural and thus smell great. Pool is oxidised, the whole place is spotless the ambience superb,...

We have just stayed at The Spice Village for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The cottages are beautiful, very clean and spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The food and staff in the restaurants and bar are fantastic. We watched the local martial arts show which was brilliant, very entertaining. I would recommend this property for couples,...

The resort is simply too good ! The setting, concept and the hospitality is very impressive. It's a peaceful place full of pepper vines, jackfruit trees, different species of birds and a variety of other trees and plants. They run a very impressive recycling plant , and a small paper making unit, have their own organic vegetable garden too !!...

We just stayed here for two nights (wished we could have stayed longer!) and it was a lovely property. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They easily and efficiently move tour groups in-and-out every day. Hotel is located a short walk from town, and a short distance from entrance to Periyar Preserve park. Our room was an individual cottage...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Spice Village is an eco resort in the hills(thekkady) near the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. A cluster of tribal style huts set in a beautiful spice garden is a great escape for most tourists from the heat of the plains, and also a great place for some adventure activities. We have a comfortable pool, an ayurvedic spa, we organise treks into the forest, bamboo rafting and many more. A walk through the property itself is a great way to explore many aspects of nature and the green initiatives undertaken at this eco resort. ... more   less
