We went for lunch at this place and we weren't disappointed.. courteous staff and delectable food. Try Thier fish curry. It was awesome. They also offered home made pickles made from beetroot and raw mango. Serene environment.

One of the finest and most gorgeous hotel I have stayed in. The entire hotel while swashbuckling gives a feeling of staying in the actual times of past when concreatization had not taken place. You will see almost every popular species of tree/plant that you might know of, including Mango, Henna, Cashewnut, Basil, Oak, Each tree is marked with its...

The reception staff were welcoming and quickly we had our room key. The rooms were dotted around the grounds in single and double units. We had a single unit which was spacious and comfortable. Every day they give tours of the facilities which we found very interesting. We were shown the solar panels, electricity storage, composting methods and the vegetable...

We stayed at Spice Village as part of Saga's Tour of South India Tour. It was idyllic. The grounds were lovely and as it was very close to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary we woke in the mornings to the sound of monkeys in the trees across the road. When we walked just outside the village to the shops there were monkeys...

This is a excellent property that takes to a complete village environment, the property is vast and one can take a morning walk in between woods. The hotel has no TV and air-conditioning, believe me you won't need either of them as there is so much to do in the hotel or just sit in peace and be in your...

Delightful. Individual thatched huts with all mod cons and plenty of space. Restaurant buffet really v good in terms of quality and variety but could have been hotter ( not the spices) . Location good as walking distance to town of Kumily. Opposite the Periyar Tiger reserve. Staff all attentive and helpful. The whole establishment is very relaxing and amazing...

Spice Village is really a little village. The cottages are spread out across lush grounds. With their elephant grass thatched roofs, you really feel that you are someplace unique. This was one of our top favorite places we stayed during our 2 month trip. We have stayed at two other CGH Earth properties, Coconut Lagoon in Kumarakom and Brunton Boatyard...

Right on the edge of Periyar National Park, this is a beautiful place to spend a few days. The grounds are extensive with plenty of trees and bamboo, with a nice little swimming pool, some sports courts and an organic farm. the accommodation consists of small, cool and comfortable bungalows and the staff are friendly and efficient. Personally we only...

Great location next to Tiger Reserve. Great trip for animal or bird lovers. Marvellous layout with individuals dual thatched cottages as rooms: villa was splendid. Super restaurant and very pukka bar. Staff were delightful. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Spice Village is an eco resort in the hills(thekkady) near the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. A cluster of tribal style huts set in a beautiful spice garden is a great escape for most tourists from the heat of the plains, and also a great place for some adventure activities. We have a comfortable pool, an ayurvedic spa, we organise treks into the forest, bamboo rafting and many more. A walk through the property itself is a great way to explore many aspects of nature and the green initiatives undertaken at this eco resort. ... more   less
