It seems people either love or hate owner Ramachandran by the looks of things on here. He can be rather abrupt and sharp but we found after a couple of days he was a very nice man indeed and told us about a great thali joint in the town that we returned to on a number of occasions as it...

We stayed here for one night only out of season - but moved quickly to Varkala cliff as it was a little too quiet and only 1 place open to eat. However in season, I imagine this is quite a good alternative to Varkala itself - pretty garden overlooking the clifftops and you can take a small path right down...

Have just returned from a short tour of Kerala with my daughter aged 8. K R House was a real gem of all the places we stayed. Mr Ramchandran was there to meet us when we arrived and provided an excellent, helpful, flexible and fair service. The room was good value for money, cheap but very clean and with everything...

Perfectly located on the South cliff rather than the busy North. Perfect as a couples retreat, but would perhaps have chosen North cliff on a friends trip. The owner is as earlier reviews state very thorough and matter-of-factly, but not rude. In our eyes he was very helpful and he drove us to town and showed us the important locations...

Travelling as a couple and stayed here as part of a budget(ish) trip of India. We were looking for a quieter, friendly place away from the 'party' scene of the North Cliff. Easy to get to from the station and it was easy to get a good price in tuk-tuk or taxi. Mr Ramchandaran is as he is described in...

Funny, you need to read between the lines....RG said the owner runs a tight ship (or something like that)...that's putting it mildly. We negotiated a tuk-tuk from the station to the hotel, agreed 50 rp, they wanted 60, which is more than it should be after many trips around India...when we turned up and paid, the driver walked into the...

Owner was ignorant and abrupt from the beginning. His rate increased on checkin from our initial call to him. Had to pay for loo roll, our first in India. There are nicer places and nicer people in varkala.

Located high on Varkala's south cliff KR House has an amaizing view and a steep funky steps right down to a deserted beach. Although it has a premium location, it is a budget guest house. The rate was 1000 Rupies and we felt that that was equal to the quality of the room - the only major complaint was that...

We stayed in K. R. House for 3 nights at the end of July. it was surrounded by gorgeous gardens, and had its own private beach at the bottom of the cliff. The view was completely unspoilt, and the rooms were fine. Although the rooms were nothing special for the price we were paying (We paid 600Rs pn). After three...
