This place could be exceptional however it is lacking in oh so many ways. It has the atmosphere however everything else is lacking. Many things are broken and dated and the rooms lack character. The staff seems rather indifferent and not very attentive. On a positive note, it is ideally situated, the food a pretty good, and it has a... More

From the moment I stepped through the entrance into ShivNiwas Palace, run by HRH Group of Hotels owned by the Maharana, I felt as if though I had been whisked away to a bygone era albeit with modern luxury. Former residence of the Maharana of Udaipur, on the banks of Lake Pichola and part of the City Palace complex, Shiv... More

The Maharana of Udaipur himself along with his family stays in a private place inside this City Palace campus. He has converted two parts of the whole Palace building into two hotels - namely Shivniwas & Fatehprakash which are on either side of this spacious campus. His private residential place is in the centre. Shivniwas is thus having a very... More

I really don't understand all this good reviews I see in tripadvisor. Maybe the more expensive rooms are that better.. Even so.. I stayed in one of the palace rooms and I couldn't be more dissatisfied with the quality of the room considering what we've paid for. The room is very old. Needs an urgent renovation. See the pictures. Does... More

We came there on our honeymoon. The staff was very nice (complimentary bottle of wine, rose petals in the bathroom). View from room 15 is stunning. On the lake and one can see 180 degrees. Big comfortable room. Bed and pillows just perfect. Bathroom really old though. Very clean. Perfect location in the city palace, so all walking distance. No... More

The hotel is part of the palace complex and so is in a great location, although no lake views. The food was good (breakfast and dinner) and staff were helpful. However, while the room was clean, it was straight out of the 1970s and in desperate need of refurbishment. We also stayed at the Jagat Niwas Palace which was cheaper... More

A memorable stay in a beautiful and romantic city .Udaipur should be a must visit destination on every traveller's list.it has so much to offer to everyone . The famed lakes and tpalaces in Rajput architecture pretty much dominate the city . But it's also about the quaint bazaars and Rajasthani cuisine which makes the place so attractive . Would... More

It ain't perfect, but it's very grand! The reviews on here are mixed as everyone is looking for something different I suppose. Modern, up to date, cutting edge? No. An aging beauty with a glorious past and a mystique that can still turn heads? You bet! We stayed 3 nights in a Terrace Suite, Room 15 to be precise, and... More
