Who takes 2 hours and 10 minutes to make lunch and still not be done cooking??? Mc Ivers...they do!!! We placed our order at 2.09 and were told 50 mins wait as they were expecting a large crowd. We said OK and sat. We walked out at 4.13 because they still didn’t have our lunch ready. It took them 1 hour to give us French fries because after 50 mins we requested them to. It took another 30 mins to give us 1 starter. After 2 hours and repeated requests from us our lunch still wasn’t ready. So either you tell us exactly how long you will take or you don’t seat us if you’re going to be busy. To top this the manager at the restaurant has such an unpleasant behaviour. He didn’t care about how long we had waited and when I was trying to talk to Him he just turned his back and walked away. This was the point where it became disrespectful. Come to the city and this restaurant won’t survive a day!! I know this review may probably not make any difference to the owners or the staff at Mc ivers. That’s not my idea. But for those of you planning on going there think twice!!

Inspite of booking one day ahead , table for 6 of us for lunch on the 15th Nov 2020 , the person incharge and the owners inspite of booking our table , refused to give us a Table and were extremely Rude and Arrogant. Never step into that horrible place where the management and staff lack courtesy and manners . They should close and learn to handle customers from roadside vendors , who have far more maturity and manners

This hotel has lots of character and has an enviable location, above the town of Coonoor. We were slightly unprepared for the cool nights in December and the hotel only has fan heaters. A good change from chain hotels though

A typical 100 year old bungalow which has been converted to boutique hotel, with outstanding 180 degree view of the valley, and well maintained garden. Sunset is spectacular. It is ideal for a relaxed laid back holiday and unwinding from the stress of metro living, or for simply day dreaming in the gardens. Rooms are typical of the Raj days- high roof, large size, 4 poster bed etc etc. The only concern we had was that the property being very old, money needs to be spent on maintenance . In particular with respect to plumbing- the water quality and flow. Staff is friendly, but it appeared that they are typically understaffed

We spent 7 nights at McIver’s 180 and it was a delight. The hotel is nearly , 6,000 feet above sea level which was a relief after 32C of Cochin.Although it could get chilly after sunset the temperatures in daytime were very comfortable in 20’s. Gardens were lovely and room very comfortable. Former tea planters bungalow so attractive building. Food was good and hotel adapted for “Western” levels of spicing. Friendly staff and general ambiance relaxed and restful. Near Sim’s gardens and relatively easy access to town and sights - narrow gauge railway a delight. Happy to recommend
