Provides what you need for a city hotel, close to the main tourist site (5 mins walk) and train station (2 mins). Modern style rooms of a decent size with comfortable bed, air con and flat screen TV with clean bathroom. Breakfast is typical South Indian and WIFI is only available on the hotel reception.

I had stayed at the Hotel Keerthi for a couple of nights in 2013 and was more than happy to stay there again for a couple of nights this January.

The Keerthi is conveniently located. It is about 5 minutes walk from Madurai Junction Railway Station and maybe 10 minutes walk from the Shree Meenakshi Temple, Madurai's principal significant attraction. There are numerous nearby restaurants and cafes located along West Perumal and adjacent streets.

My room was not large, but was an adequate size. It was clean and there was cable television with a good range of channels including English language options such as BBC. (something you don't often find in Indian budget hotels)

Breakfast is provided but is limited to local buffet options only. (No Western breakfast options). Wifi, with good connectivity, is available, but only in the reception area. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The guys on reception pushed my check-out time out by a couple of hours which was appreciated as I had a night bus to my next destination. And the breakfast staff were happy to give me a second cup of tea each morning.

I believe I got value for money and would stay at this hotel again if I visit Madurai in the future.

The rooms at Hotel Keerthi are small but clean and modern looking. There is no window looking out onto the street, only (in our room) a frosted pane window, sealed with duct tape, that leads to (I think) a service shaft. This means that the rooms stay quite quiet - away from the street noise. On the other hand I suspect that the claustrophobic will not have a pleasant stay.

We actually arrived in Madurai one day before moving into this hotel but moved out of our original choice. We had asked to see a room at Hotel Keerthi on the day prior to moving in. The room which we were shown had a modern a/c unit and a neat, clean, non-leaking bathroom. When, on the basis of this, we checked in the next day we were a little surprised to find ourselves in a room which did not quite meet the standards that we had been shown. The a/c unit we ended up with would probably be of as much historical interest as the near-by temple. Still, this was not a major problem. More annoying, however, was the constantly running water from the broken tap in the bathroom. This was noisy and made the tiled floor slippery. We were told that the hotel was fully booked (which seemed unlikely - the breakfast list had only about 10 rooms on it when we saw it in the morning) and that, in any case, it was all "fine" which it really wasn't. This, too, was ultimately merely an annoyance but it does detract from the experience of the hotel to the detriment of both parties.

Finally, be prepared to wait and wait for things, like toilet paper, requested from a rather disinterested reception who, I think, were probably over worked.

We have booked the room online for 3 days.
We checked in the Hotel in morning 3AM. as our train reached Madurai Railway station at 2:30AM.
The day before We intimated our check in time to the Reception and the Receptionist was agreed to serve us properly. But surprisingly when we reached the Hotel the receptionist any how came and reacted unusually as if it's our mistake that we came by 3AM. and the Room Boy was sleeping the reception only and not bothered to carry the luggage till the room too. We traveled overnight by train, were quite tired. But after finishing the check in formalities me and my husband dragged the luggage and and reached to the second floor as the receptionist told us. There we found Room boy with Keys. He just opened the door and went out.
The Hotel guys was not bothered to offer one glass of water at least. There was no water content in the room. Not a single Glass too have water. Unfortunately we had only one Half Litr water bottle with us and one Coke. As our prior experience with any other Hotel was not so bad like this that we didn't think that we have to carry water also.
When we just overcome from the first shock of this kind of HOSPITALITY we got to know about one more maddening things about the Washroom. First of all it's not cleaned properly. The wash basin tap was not working. Moreover there was no privacy in the washroom. the window was open and when my husband tried to close it, it was not closing properly and was too dirty.
Room was very small. to keep our two luggages was hectic to us. Only one charging point was working in the room. There was window AC in the room although we didn't inform about that while booking by Travelguru. It was too noisy. We just felt helpless after going through all this non sense and when the clock was ticking around 4:30AM. We were too much tired but scared to sleep after seeing the open window and open ventilator in the room.
We have booked online through Travelguru for 3 days. AS Travelguru customer service window opens at morning 8am. We awaited till the time. Just 8:01 my husband called Travelguru and told about all these nonsense activities of the Hotel. Surprisingly they hanged up our call since 15 mins and after shouting on them the call transferred from junior level to senior one. and Most peculiar things was that they are talking with taking the side of the Hotel. and told that "A Glass of Water is not the Basic Amenities of the Hotel". We just surprised listen the statement from one of the Leading Hospitality providing Company "Travelguru". As per that Travelguru Executive there was Senior Receptionist who can not come to the room to serve Traveller. But as our previous experience General Manager of 4 star Hotel also come to the Traveller if any issue occurs. Any way we asked them to cancel the booking ASAP and give the money back. They promised that the money will be transacted via online only from Travelguru.

We just felt relief after checking out from the WORST HOTEL KEERTHI at 10AM. (For your information when we were doing check out procedure we met with the SENIOR RECEPTIONIST as per TRAVELGURU. We were surprised to see him, He asked to give money, doesn't even know we already paid online ) That is the standard of the HOTEL.
IT was NIGHT MARE to us.
Be aware!!!!.Don't book any room in this Hotel. It's worst to worst hotel we ever visited.

Later we thought we could take some snap of the worst room of this Hotel to post for your reference. But as said before we were too tired to face all these so didn't come in mind to take snap on that time.

The employees were just simply rude, period. We have never experienced such poor service anywhere (and we've traveled a lot). The hotel would be actually quite OK if it weren't for the staff here. The location is okay, the rooms are okay too (pretty clean) but we still had to change hotels after two nights.

Overall the hotel was nice, with decent rooms & pleasent staff. The only this were disappointed was, there were not hotel water for shower. We were promised that there will be hot water supply 24hrs, but we didn't get any hot water during our stay for 2days. When ever ask, the housekeeping would say there's some problem with the hoter water supply.
We had 4 kids & just imagine how if would have you...!

I stayed there for five days. My experience was not really that good. Some main good things first about the hotel.

- good location close to railway station and meenakshi temple.
- lot of good eatouts nearby the hotel
- though small , rooms were good, neat and clean. well maintained
- a decent south indian breakfast, though quality not that great compared to nearby eatouts.

Now the bad things:

- The feel and behaviour of the staff is more like lodge not a hotel
- unprofessional behaviour of the staff.
- i lost one of clothes and nobody responded to the complaint leave alone taking responsibility
- the reception seems posh, but the service is not good. They don't mind telling you lies to save their skin and mistake. It happend to me and also some guests before my eyes.
- They don't mind giving excuses for the problems
- The house keeping staff don't clean the rooms regularly. Only a strong complaint made them clean my room after three days of stay.
- The rooms are small, closed , no windows, sometimes you feel like in a posh voluntary jail.
- The pricing for this type of hotel and service is bit high.

Very Rude Staff especially the guys at the reception, looks on us as if he is doing a big favor giving us the rooms, service is pathetic, no manners and very congested. Horrible parking facility. Every time you need to take the car out you had to wait for the other cars to be moved. Families should definitely avoid this hotel.

Nice small budget hotel; friendly staff; decent south Indian breakfast is included in the price. Great hotel to stay for few days.
The only hick-up is, you can get the WIFI only in the ground floor. They should include all floors for this....

It is just another hotel. Not to carry much expectations. But i prefer to stay there every time i go to Madurai. It is very conveniently located - close to railway station and bus stand. Right in the heart of commercial Town Hall area. Walkable from Meenakshi temple. Room is clean but very small. Just suitable for overnighters. Parking may be a problem with limited space. An ideal place for those who want to experience night life of Madurai. Room service and restaurant not advised. Walk down to nearby restaurant (many in the surrounding) and have food.
