Guleria Kothi hotel boasts a prime location by the Ganges, hailed for its scenic views and old-world charm. While the hotel's cleanliness receives acclaim, a few guests have raised concerns over bathroom hygiene. Its amenities, such as complimentary boat rides and diverse dining options, are popular among travelers. Opinions on value are split; some commend the staff and views, while others report unfulfilled requests. The service is generally celebrated for its warmth, and while the lively ambiance with live music is a hit, occasional noise complaints arise. Rooms are deemed delightful, though cleanliness can be inconsistent.

This hotel is heritage property built in 1700 ad converted into hotel .it's situated near Ramghat and Ganesha ghat hotel rooms are beautiful with amenities like toiletries, locker, fridge, kettle ,shoe shiner .
I have booked 4 rooms with view there r only 4 rooms in hotel with Ganga view 401 301 402 and best view is from 306.
Pros- best hotel with Ganga view .
Clean well maintained property
Descent breakfast spread like poha ,paratha ,idli, omlett boiled egg ,poorie, cereals, bread, fruits and cann juice.
Cons - this hotel is inaccessible via road only way to reach hotel is boat .hotel provides 1 complimentary pickup and 1drop rest all transportation is 300 per person ..so from hotel if u want to go somewhere you ll have to book boat that ll charge you atleast 500 for dashasmedh drop 500 for hotel drop ... moreover if u travelling by ur own car you have to take paid parking at assi ghat that will cost 500/day and call hotel for pickup .

The hotel is over priced for amenities and standard

WiFi is very slow or non working most of time

Hotel lift is available only till 3rd floor however the hotel is 4 floors

Check-in time is 2pm I think that's too late

In conclusion I can say if u want a standard property with Ganga view this is best hotel in budget of 5000k but don't book stay if elderly people are travelling

We enjoyed our stay. The property is beautiful and in a fantastic location, the boat and restaurant staff is very kind, and we had an incredible tour with Deepak who I would highly recommend spending a day touring Varansi with even if you do not stay at the hotel. (whatsapp: +91 70805 86800). He was very knowledgeable about the city and went out of his way to make sure we had a great day. The one exception was that coordination with the front desk was quite challenging and confusing at times, which I would not have expected for the price you pay here.

Arrived by hotel boat shuttle an ideal way to discover Varanasi.
Small hotel with direct views on to the Ganges:
Top floor restaurant served the best chicken biryani ever, beyond perhaps Chutney Mary in London, which is 5 times the price!
Non-vegetarian dishes and wine and beer available, at reasonable prices.
Definitely NOT the case at the swanky Rijrama Palace, where we had an expensive and « dry » dinner one night.
A bit noisy with people chatting below, and our first evening the live entertainment featured a girl with the most piercing off-key screech (not voice) I have ever suffered.
Main receptionist didn’t seem very involved, unable to understand my request for an electrical plug adaptor, but this was more than compensated for by the kindness and efficiency of the the other staff members.
Overall, very positive

Varanasi is one of the most interesting places I've ever visited, and this hotel is situated in the heart of it. Every one of your senses will be overstimulated while staying at this property, and at every time of the day.The hotel is lovely, and beautifully adorned. It overlooks the Ganges, which is quite polluted but the most significant landmark in Varanasi. Since you're right off the Ganges, you will inhale the ashes of the Ghats just down the river, and be awakened around 3:30-4am by ceremonies taking place on the Ganges.

You and your luggage will travel by boat to get to the hotel. The boats are pretty old, and a bit sketchy, however that's for ya India. :) The staff will unload your luggage and provide you with amazing service. Breakfast is served daily, and I never had a problem getting a cappuccino any time of the day. Sounds insignificant, but I'm addicted to caffeine, and was pleased to still be able to get my fix whenever I needed it in Varanasi of all places.

This is one of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed at, it's centuries old, and beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel whilst in Varanasi. Be opened minded, if you need more of a Marriott/Holiday Inn experience to be comfortable this might be a bit much, but then again, why go to India?

We had an occassion to be at ‘Sangeet’ in the guleria kothi courtyard during april 2022. Every aspect of the occassion was made memorable and outstanding by the venue and their management. Id like to state that Ive stayed at several ‘palace’ hotels and attended the dance/singing programmes in their respective courtyards, e.g., taj lake-palace udaipur, brij rama varanasi, etc. While those are very good in their own right, I would rate this experience better, due to the intimate feeling of this courtyard, excellent acoustics, outstanding hosts, and last but not the least the beautiful temple adjacent to the courtyard (with 800+ YO murtis).

Sangeet was followed by meal at the rooftop. This outlooks the ganges with a stunning view of varanasi river banks. Separtely, the rooftop itself is a beautiful place in its own right due to the excellent upkeep of the intricately constructed area. Needless to say food was excellent in variety and taste.

One more point to highlight here versus other river-bank hotels in varnasi, is the approach to the hotel from the steps/banks of ganges. The plantings and their maintenance along with the lighting was exquisite and best in class for varnasi. It truly feels like a special and well caref for venue.

One more aspect to consider is the interest that the family takes in locals and the relationships they have around them. While we were waiting for some people from our party to arrive, some local flutist showed up. The owners graciously had them seated and insisted they have tea with them. Needless to say we got to hear some melodious music while waiting at the river bank - quite a unique experience.

Tempting to stop for a lunch or drink along the river. You pay for the location. Food is mediocre for the price and when you pay the bill, Rs 240 are missing when the waiter bring back the change. It happens 2 times. So definitely not accidental.

Great experience being picked up by boat as there is hardly any motor-able street to access the hotel. Very nice and helpful stuff. Made the stay very comfortable. Arranged tour guide (Sorry forgot the name) who took us all over Varanasi. And of course being taxied by hotel boat to place along the Ganges is a super service.
We stayed 5 nights and breakfast could have had more variety over the days. The only real bad thing was the extremely slow internet. In such a place where you want to read about the history and Varanasi itself high speed Internet is a must.

Worst hospitality. They actually don’t know how to treat guests. We had made prior reservations at their cafe for Sunday Lunch and the boat pick up and drop. At the end moment we were informed that boat pickup or drop was not possible and we will have to arrange it on our own. When we reached the cafe almost everything on the menu was unavailable. We ordered for a toast, pasta and some potato wedges. After 30 minutes of ordering they told us that the toast was not available as they didn’t have any bread so they got us some wedges and asked us to wait for some more time for the pasta. After another 45 minutes the waiter unapologetically comes to us saying that the pasta will not be possible and that he is getting the final bill. Is this seriously something to expect from a heritage property of this level. Please don’t waste your time or money on going on such properties who are extremely partial and don’t know how to treat their guests.

Visited the restaurant for dinner on 18 Jan 2020. Between the reception and restaurant there was confusion as to whether they can accomodate or not finally we reached the restaurant. The response of the staff was pathetic. They appeared not interested and pretty non accomodative. There was no effort from the staff to even provide us a place to sit while they were willingly going out of the way to cater for the foreigner guests.
Sorry but we were really dissapointed.

No, this place is not that big. I don't think more than 200 guests will fit in this venue.

My room was river facing but I don’t think all rooms are. The room I had would have been too small for 3 people. It is on the Guleria Ghat.

There is an elevator in the hotel, but you must take many stairs to reach the entrance. You could arrive by boat, but it is also necessary to take many stairs down the ghat to the boats, then again up to the hotel. I would not consider it accessible.
