Stayed here as a family and had a Ganges view room. It had a small balcony with a decent view. Was noisy though, with stray dogs barking through the night- but that is part of the travel experience! Nice restaurant with live music every night. Can walk to all the ghats, and if you want a river cruise, the boats...

The rooms are sufficient but good. The area (Assi Ghat) is really nice. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Also close to Ganges. The only negative thing was that you had to pay for wifi and it only works on one device at the time. Provide free wifi in the room!

Clean, peaceful, and...the location : Assi Ghat is the quietest and most authentic in the area. The closest you get to cremation location, the most you get huge crowds of tourists. Palace on Ganges, is the place where locals go to for morning and evening prayers. No huge crowds. You get the magic feeling of the mornings on the Ganges....

Palace may be a bit of a stretch. It must have been very grand at one time, but it has seen better days. However, its charming with large rooms, antique furniture and lots of beautiful woodwork (Even some Kama Sutra carvings is some of the rooms). Our room was on the 2nd floor with no view and no elevator (not...

I came to Varanasi with my family on 3/1. We had a nice welcome and got coffee served as our room wasn't ready. The room was ok nothing flash. It was very dusty. The sheets were linty. We had three guests sleeping and they had two pillows. At the night we discovered that there was one switch that turned off...

This Hotel has the best location in Kashi. It's on Assi Ghat. One can see Ganga from some of the rooms. Hotel rooms are thematically named. I stayed in the room that was named Gujarat. The best thing in the hotel is the pictures of great sons/daughters of Varanasi on its walls. It connects you with history and traditions. However...

Varanasi is considered as the holiest place of Hindu pilgrimage. Only those who are blessed by the Lord can enter this Holy place. Bathing in the river Ganges is yet another holy activity at Varanashi. Varanashi is one of the seven Mokshapuris' in India.

It is difficult to get a good hotel near the Ganges. This hotel is less than a block away and near the Assi Ghat. The service was good , the food was good but it is the location that counts! Varanasi is an experience and hotels in general are not very good. This is a good option.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of a two week Ganges/Hooghly cruise. It was the perfect end to a perfect trip. We had stayed here three years ago and returned because we love the location. Our room this time surpassed our expectations and we had an incredible stay.

We really loved this hotel. We were given a choice of rooms and the room( 008 )we chose made all the difference although it had no windows. We had all our meals at this hotel and we were delighted with the quality of the food and service. Entertainment was provided during dinner and we enjoyed it so much that we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
