We have been to Bali a few times; this is easily the worst place we have stayed at. I'm surprised that many reviewers here, who seem to glowingly review this place but not review other places, think differently. Where to start? The 'Sanctuary' (if you can ignore the traffic noise!) is located next to the busiest through fare to central...

It's so sad when a guest has a bad experience and does not let our staff know or us, as the owners, what the problem is, so that we can actually remedy it. We always hope to have guests have a great experience here. I would like to address this guests concerns, since I wasn't given the opportunity while he...

We stayed in one of the smaller buildings - Lotus Lumbung. Although the bigger units are more 'up market' in their design and fittings we enjoyed the casual open plan living area of Lotus Lumbung which was just a few steps from the pool. The upstairs bedroom was simple but very comfortable with views over the countryside from the window....

Desa Sanctuary or Rumah David is a great place to stay while you are in Ubud. It has to be mentioned that it is located a bit out of city center (15-20 min depending on what you consider center)), which for us was a great pro as we could enjoy the walk back after a nice dinner in the center....

Desa Sanctuary totally met my needs for my sojourn in Bali. I was looking for a quiet place for study and reflection along with sight-seeing. My three weeks in Rumah Tinggi provided the environment which enabled me to accomplish my goals. Plus, the staff was helpful in every way, provided a very nice breakfast, and kept everything clean and functioning....

After being served a delicious breakfast each morning, you can take off to see the sights of Ubud. I had a push bike organised for me by the staff so that was a great way to see the place, drop into yoga classes, join the festivities then return home to take a nice long swim in the pool before heading...

My husband and I stayed at Desa Sanctuary for 3 nights for our 1 year anniversary before heading to the islands. Didi was absolutely wonderful during the weeks prior to our trip arranging airport pick-up, sending links to restaurants for us to try while we were there, and answering any questions we had. We stayed in the Rumma Tinggi which...

Situated among a local kampung, this little gem is amazing. Service was excellent, atmosphere was peaceful and near to Ubud Market. Easy access to restaurants, supermarkets, art galleries etc.

If you don't mind staying a little further down the road (we didn't) then you will totally love this place. It is a sanctuary for sure. The staff was excellent. Food was very good for breakfast but the staff will also order out for dinner and pick it up! The Yoga Barn is within walking distance. I would suggest renting...

The service was impeccable. We had 'room service' from restaurants outside. Desa Sanctuary attendants were great. We could let them know what food we wanted from different restaurants nearby and they would be happy to get them for us. That was the highlight of our stay.

I stayed at Desa Sanctuary earlier this year and I loved it. The staff are very welcoming and sweet and will do anything to help you. I stayed in two different bungalows while I was there, both were lovely. Very homely, rustic feel, lots of wood and nice art etc and very clean beds and lovely bathrooms with outdoor style...

“For a short stay for 2 people Rumah Tinggi was lovely. It was a little elevated so quite private. For a longer stay, for 2 people, the bungalow below Rumah Tinggi was also looked very comfortable. For a group of people the big houses looked superb. However, all the 5 options were excellent. Personally I wouldn't choose a room/villa next to a swimming pool.”

“all are great, question of size. kampung does not have much outdoor space, it is fully enclosed whereas the other houses are open on the ground floor with bedroom enclosed upstairs. very charming arrangement to live with open walls.”
