My partner took me to Ubud for my 50th birthday. We spent 5 nights in Alam Jiwa and could have stayed many more. The place, people and location were beautiful. Our room was large, clean, private and surrounded by a stream and a beautiful garden and overlooked rice paddies. Each morning after having an outdoor shower (wonderful), we had our...

We have been going to Bali since 1997 and Alam Indah and its sister hotel Alam Jiwa are our favorite places to stay. The hotels are built in traditional Balinese style and are set in beautiful surroundings. Staff are very helpful and attentive and the location is close enough to town to walk but far enough away that you feel...

Four of us stayed in the Cendrawasih house (sadly for only 2 nights). It was cool, very clean, well set up, beautiful quiet location next to the small river and the rice fields, the open-air shower is great, very friendly and helpful staff, very relaxing communal pool area. Breakfast is excellent, delicious, and delivered to your room if you order...

Alam Jiwa was great. We spent two nights here and loved every minute. The rooms are very spacious, the bed is huge, albeit a little short. Great view from the balcony for sunrise or sunset. And the staff were wonderful. It's a nice little romantic hideaway. It's probably not for everyone as there is no TV and the wifi is...

We stayed at Alam Jiwa for a week with our family members prior to and following our wedding. The rooms, particularly their more expensive ones were stunning. Huge bathrooms were a sight to behold. The grounds are also very very nice. Perhaps best of all were the staff, who were all very nice and very helpful. The position is quiet...

This was the first hotel on my first trip to Bali. What a way to start! Amazing service. The rooms were fantastic, roomy, clean and very comfortable. The view from our private balcony and even from the shower were amazing! Definitely would stay again and again on a return to Ubud. The free shuttles into town and back were a...

Last year my husband and I stayed in Alam Indah, which was wonderful, but because we were returning this year with my 76-year-old mum, I wrote to ask Ayu which other hotel she would recommend that would not involve climbing a steep flight of stairs every day. She booked us into Hanoman and Garuda at Alam Jiwa. I didn't think...

I loved the location - a beautiful village but still only a walk through the monkey forest into town. Lovely breakfast - much better than a big hotel buffet. The service was great - no need to pay for transport. There was sunshine all 4 days and temperatures more suited to exploring than the beach areas.

We recently returned from a trip to Southeast Asia and this was our favorite place out of fourteen hotels in four countries. We stayed in a wonderful villa that was exquisitely decorated and absolutely beautiful. The landscaping enhanced the atmosphere and made you feel calm and peaceful. The bath had an outdoor shower that was open to the sky yet...
