We were so excited to stay here and it was our first trip to Ubud. It was a four night stay. The grounds were very beautiful and the staff very friendly. We had a one bedroom villa with a pool. The property seemed extremely understaffed. The villa was definitely way past its prime. It was fairly clean if you don't count the mold in the coffee maker water reservoir. The restaurant on the property was ok but definitely not something you looked forward to. All the amenities touted on the website were either not provided or exaggerated. After spending an average of $700 a night, inclusive the restaurant bills and o bottle of champagne, we felt it was ok but not worth the money. Definitely would not recommend to our friends. I wanted to write a good review because the staff was so nice but it just couldn't make up for everything else. There are some good restaurants in the area but overall the area surrounding the resort is very poor. We never felt unsafe and, other at the water temple, no one ever tried to take advantage of us. The local people were very friendly and helpful and never asked for a tip. I even had someone who took our picture for us try and give the tip back. Some of the best people in the world. I hope to return to Bali, just not here.…

Tanah Gajah without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the best resorts IN THE WORLD ( if not the best !!!) That observation comes about from someone who travels internationally for about 8 months a year so I have experienced many hotels/resorts over many years. I have returned several times to this Balinese slice of heaven and in fact its my only choice of resort when I travel to Bali. I will be returning many times more. The staff, the management and the property are all INCREDIBLE! . On this latest trip I took my 15 yr old grandson on his first overseas trip and unfortunately he became unwell. The care that was afforded him by the staff was way beyond my expectations or any level of care you would expect to receive from hotel staff. They were absolutely amazing and I’m so grateful. From preparing him special meals, to collecting items from the store to help in his recovery……impeccable service! Tanah Gajah is set just outside the township of Ubud, situated in the most beautiful working rice fields . Its so peaceful and serene that you never want to leave . A big ,big thank you to every staff member I encountered on this recent trip for your care and attention and for always making my time at Tanah Gajah the highlight of my year. See you next time.…

My husband and I had an amazing 5 night stay in a One Bedroom Club Pool Villa at the beautiful Tanah Gajah Resort Ubud. We cannot speak highly enough of the peaceful location, the staff, the facilities and amenities, restaurant and all round wonder and magic of this resort. We have travelled to and lived in Bali for many years however, the Tanah Gajah is by far our favourite resort. A special mention must go to the magical experience of the omakese dinner with Chef Dean Nor - this is a must do and was absolutely world class dining. The location is just like the beautiful Bali of old - away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. You can choose a wellness holiday with the gym and spa, or one of the many activities on offer from the resort such as hot air ballooning and trekking. All the staff are wonderful and on hand at a moments notice to assist - particular mention must go to the Operations Manager Pasek who will ensure your every need is met. We highly recommend Tanah Gajah and hope to return very soon.…

We have had 4 amazing days in this beautiful resort, the staff every single one of them from house keeping, reception, restaurant and drivers have all been super welcoming and friendly. They have all gone above and beyond their duty to guide us with recommendations and arrangements during our stay. The resort itself is stunning with lush green trees and plants rice fields and beautiful pools and ponds. A huge area of land nearly 5 acres and only 20 rooms, it feels almost like your own private resort due to the small amount of rooms. There is a jogging track, a small gym, 2 main pools and a spa. The main restaurant tempayan serves the most delicious food and a great selection of cocktails and wines a special thank you to Nopi for looking after us. We had the pleasure of experiencing a very special omakase dinner with the fantastic Chef Dean. It was a true pleasure to enjoy 5 courses of unique a flavourful dishes created by chef right in front of us! I highly recommend this experience chef is very informative and full of interning stories we had lots of fun. They serve complimentary afternoon tea daily at the padi bar. All in all a memorable stay thanks to all the staff and Bima for helping us with our booking, and also Pardey the driver we booked daily for trips he was very good and has lots of knowledge of the area and history. If you want to have a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud town this is it. The resort grounds are sublime and a joy to meander around. The pool villa was outstanding and private with doors from the pool that overlook the rice fields that were being harvested. The main pool feels like it’s a movie set it’s so picture perfect and it’s never busy so relaxation comes quickly. The Long Barn which has the restaurant serves delicious food and with views over the paddy fields I found myself capturing moments with my camera. The staff are so efficient and communicate brilliantly via your what’s app and the shuttle into the main shopping area is excellent.

If you have class, BOOK IT! From the airport your personal and friendly driver collects you. Friendly, great English, handsome, and he’s related directly to the resort. Greeting is first class. Every blade of grass is manicured; Every tree is groomed. The most idyllic setting I could ever imagine. It’s so well thought out, I found myself thinking “gee it would be nice if they….” and I’d look and it was there. Every little possible convenience is at your disposal. The staff is 100% great, but honestly nearly all Balinese folks are super duper. The house car will take you around. Very convenient. Get the villa with a private pool, don’t even doubt if it’s worth it. Just do it. It’s life changing. They’ll even deliver breakfast ti you there, in the pool if you wish. It’s silly ti eat in a poll honestly but makes GREAT IG photos if you’re into that. Here is an additional good thing to say…. They messed up my reservation somehow, computer error perhaps, and my villa rang up slightly cheaper than it should be or included something for free but shouldn’t have. MOST places would not honor it, but these guys showed their integrity! Completely honored it. Over and above TERRIFIC service. Go ahead and catch the traditional dance which happens Tuesday and Friday I believe. The restaurant is amazing. Everything was great! They charge too much for a soda, but hey, EVERY restaurant does that. Housekeeping is amazing, twice daily. Immaculate. I looked and couldn’t find dust, ha, ha. First class. I gotta say thank you to the ENTIRE staff…. Patek I think is the operations manager….. gee! The best smile, sincere to his heart. ANYONE WHO GIVES THIS PLACE LESS THAN FIVE STARS should jokingly be banned from writing reviews. It’s life for a king here.…

Just a special place - from the moment you arrive the gardens and layout of the resort will relax and delight you! All the staff are smiling yet discrete and provide the best guest service! Villas are fantastic in design and the little touches like fresh fruit and a fully stocked minibar/fridge each day are great! Food is really good - loved the breakfasts and the afternoon tea and cocktails at sunset services - just so chilled having a cocktail whilst watching the hotel hot air balloon go up over the rice fields! Spa is lovely though pricey which you would expect in a resort like this - but it is high end and a quality experience. Gym is small but has the basics covered and a great view to work out - plus they offer a yoga session every morning except Monday’s at 7.30am which even a novice like myself was able to take part in and enjoy! Located a bit out of Ubud but that’s a good thing as the traffic there is horrendous in the day and they offer a free car service to drop you off and collect you if you do want to pop into town. Loved the butler concept on WhatsApp- really great way to get all your requests and questions actioned and the staff were super responsive every time I WhatsApp messaged them - it’s a superb way to handle guest services and wish all hotels offered it! Our 5 days at Tanah Gajah were absolutely lovely. The villas are set amongst lush, beautifully maintained gardens, lily ponds and sculptures. It is the perfect setting to unwind. Our family villa was spacious, cool and artfully decorated. And of course, we loved our pool! We stayed in Villa 4 which had great views of the gardens. The team at Tanah Gajah really do provide impeccable service with a smile. Every detail is considered and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel’s accolades and 5 star reviews are absolutely deserved. This is the place to stay if you are looking for a truly relaxing and upmarket holiday.

This hotel is incredible. It is made up of villas with amazing scenery to walk around the hotel, including lakes with swans, beautiful pools and sculptures and a wide open rice field. Both at night and during the day they are completely different vibes and makes it impossible to decide which is more beautiful. We stayed at a pool villa that felt like our home during our stay. The service and attention is amazing while not being intrusive. I could not recommend this hotel enough to stay when coming to Ubud. They also offer free transportation to and from Ubud center but you will find it difficult to leave the hotel.
