We are a traditional Balinese, family owned hotel, with 8 pleasantly spacious rooms featuring modern amenities and open air bathrooms. We are located 50 meters off the main road in the quiet village of Penestanan Kaja. The walk to Ubud center is about 1.5 kilometers and you will get there by walking on a pleasant path with rice fields, small local warung's, shops and spas. We are in a perfect location for day trips around Bali. We want you to have a memorable experience and we are here to help.

Detailed Reviews
This was my husband's and my 3rd stay in Ubud and we've tended to get further away from the city center each time for some peace and quiet. We found what we were looking for at Taman Rahasia. The entrance was a bit hard to find, but once we began walking down the path into the gardens, we knew we had made the right decision. Leafy, lush, full of flora and fauna of all types, you feel as though you are entering a hidden jungle garden that is privately yours. Everything was perfect from the breakfasts each morning to the comfortable bed at night. We stayed in a deluxe room and enjoyed the outdoor bath and the large terrace each day, and also made time for a dip in the luscious pool which we had to ourselves. The best part for us however, was the spa on site. Over our multi night stay, we explored all day, to return for a "happy hour" spa treatment around 4-5pm, after which we would head back out for dinner. We tried multiple treatments, and each was better than the last. It is about a mile walk to town, but this was perfect for us, and when you walk the other direction out of the property, you immediately find yourself in a lush landscape of raised pathways between rice paddies as far as the eye can see, taking you back to the old days of Ubud before all of the over-development. I hope to come back here and see many of the same landscapes preserved in the future! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay.

I can't recommend the Taman Raskia enough. This hotel is family-run and provided great service.
Its not in center of Ubud, but close enough to get there quickly by renting a motorbike or by taxi. We rented motorbikes just across the street from the hotel entrance. We used the hotel to order a taxi after arriving by boat from Nusa Penida, or for longer day trips.
The entire complex is full of lovely gardens and beautiful, authentic artwork. There is a small pool area where we usually swam in the evenings, after exploring Ubud and its attractions during the day.
Breakfast is delicious, there is one great restaurants nearby that the hotel staff recommend - we ate there often.

Michel and Madie have created a tropical jewel in a quiet area of Ubud. They helped me in every way possible, giving tips on excursions as well as on shopping of traditional balinese garments. Such a personal care is exceptional.
The place itself is impeccable: rooms, pool and breakfast area are kept very clean and everything looks brand new and perfectly looked after.
A perfect place to stay and relax!

A beautiful family Resort, a few kilometers from Ubud. Set in lush tropical gardens, rooms are beautifully furnished, and very big, with outdoor patios. Outdoor bathrooms are private and huge. From the back gate, you can access a gorgeous pathway for a walk up to the rice fields. Quiet village with a few cute places to eat. We had a wonderful family stay here. Tip: Download the Grab App for booking taxis to get to Ubud.

The team was absolutely amazing and accommodating, I even need to switch my reservation twice and they did it without a fee. Actually I did it three times. The breakfast was amazing and the room was quiet and comfortable. I was celebrating my partner’s birthday and it’s close to multiple things around this side of town

I was surprised at first because I arrived late at night and the entrance was a bit confusing but this place was very lovely, tropical and fresh. I love the garden and the pool so much. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was good. Highly recommend.

The monkey they have outside do not get food or wather, and people that walk by are irritaiting her. Something needs to be done! She have been in the cage for 8 years. Also she is all alone every singel day. Everyone deserves a friend to talk and play with, freedome, food and wather. Do not undersand that people can be so mean... The monkey should get a home where someone take care off her!

Response from rdogerman, Front Office Manager at Taman Rahasia Tropical Sanctuary & Spa
Responded 7 Aug 2018
Hello, First of all I have no idea who this person is but I think they are leaving a review for the wrong hotel. There are other hotels in Ubud with the name Taman Rahasia. We have never had a monkey in this village and certainly not in front of our hotel. Our hotel is located 50 meters from the main road behind a family compound. If the monkey was here you would think that you would hear about it in our reviews. There has never been a review about our hotel with mention of a monkey. Regards, Michel

Nice hotel, clean and quiet, clean swimming pool, a bit cold, bur still refreshing, good breakfast and local dishes. The only drawback of this hotel is its location, its a bit off-site, you will need a driver to go to the main area of Ubud.
We would have preferred a more central location. We didn't stay as long as planned for that reason.

I find myself in two minds writing this review. On one hand I want to let all like minded travelers know about this but on the other, keep it to myself.
On our arrival I was a little taken aback....the entrance is less than impressive... a few steps into a narrow corridor, high unimpressive concrete walls either side....then it opens out into Taman Rahasia "the Secret Garden" Two lovely traditional buildings with wide verandas, tropical plants everywhere, the buildings separated by a pristine pool.
We were welcomed by Made (Maddy) the manager and her French Canadian partner Michel.
The lower building is the offices and restaurant area adjoining a lounge area with comfy seats and a small library of books. The house above the pool comprises of four guest rooms, each with its own "outdoor" bathroom. And that's it! Just four rooms makes up this beautiful little oasis.
The service from Made, Michel and their staff was perfect. nothing too much trouble.
The food was as close as you are going to get to home cooking with a good but simple choice of Asian and European food.
Free wifi if you have to keep in touch but no phones or TV's....(that's not a complaint by the way)
Ubud town centre is about a 20 minute walk away.
This trip was only three days, it will definitely be longer next time.
