The Marriott people are committed to prevent the spreading of covid19 with their unwavering signature hospitality!
Marking for physical distancing and temperature check is done as per standard. The elevators are being periodically cleaned with disinfectants every 30 minutes.
Free masks and good quality hand sanitizers are provided in guest rooms alongside the usual but excellent amenities. New large tv is noticeably improvement from my previous visits.
Staffs are even more eager to demonstrate their hospitable services. Well done!

Reservation
I booked around 7 AM that day and requested early check in at 10 AM. After around an hour, my booking on Bonvoy app showing that I got upgraded to Executive Deluxe. Very excited to stay, and this was going to be my second stay in this hotel. (Got upgraded to the same type of room the first time)
Check In
I arrived at the hotel exactly at 10 AM and the staff were already expecting me. They gave me another upgrade to Junior Suite (Wow) and very accommodating to all my questions and requests. Mr. Selamat noticed me immediately even though I only stayed there once before and gave me his contact and asked me to let him know of another requests for future stay. Also shoutout to Ms. Riris, Ms. Winda and also Mr. Sadarta (who noticed my last name and turned out was the same ethnicity as me, we conversed on our local language for awhile). Overall, a very pleasant check in process and I wish I could get the same experience for future booking.
Room
The room was very spacious with modern feel to it. The staff made sure that everything were clean and made me feel safe in this pandemic era. The bed was perfectly comfortable for me, and my daughter really enjoyed the view from up there. Another staff came to my room and gave me a welcome amenity consisted of fruit platter, an onion cracker, and local sweets even though I picked points as my welcome amenity (wife was very happy). The staff introduced himself as Mr. Dedi and we had a great chat about the condition of the hotel in this pandemic era. He offered to reserve a private room for our breakfast. Very happy with the service and I felt very welcomed.
Evening cocktail and breakfast
As the lounge was closed, they moved the evening cocktail to near the restaurant. The GM approached each table and asked us how our stay were. Very warm and I hope I could have a nice chat with him next time.
The breakfast spread were quite extensive and the quality were good.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and as I got 6 more stays in here until the end of the year, I really wish I could get the same experience again. Fantastic service!

We booked executive deluxe king room with a lounge access for 10 nights while visiting family in Medan. Room was big and spacious and it was a corner room with massive windows. Room was not really quiet as we could hear train noises (room facing the railway). Requested to move to another quieter room 2 days later.
Amenities are always great with spacious bathroom and bidet. Cleanliness could be improved. Our second room had very unpleasant smell from the bathroom when we first entered the room.
The lounge was quiet and spacious with great selection of food and snacks.
Staff are always friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was nice with many food selection, though it can be very crowded during the festive seasons (need to arrive early morning to get a good table)

My wife, my son and I visited the JW Marriott in Medan. A few things of note come to mind...
Covid measures were taken seriously, though the property is big, so it felt very safe.
A big thank to the receptionist Mr. Frans Simanjuntak who greeted us with a big smile, he speaks perfect French and explained to us the different places of the hotel (Marriott Café, Marriott Gourmet, swimming pool etc), he drove us to our room located on the 25th floor, the room is spacious, clean with a nice view of Medan and a lot of nice details.
The bed is perfect, as well as the linen: sheets, towels, bathrobes ...
The spacious bathroom contains a shower and a bathtub with a magnificent bay window which again overlooks the city. Very impressive !
The swimming pool is located on the 17th floor, it is huge and clean which made our child happy!
The breakfast was impeccable, a wide choice of fresh food, a huge and tasty buffet.
Our stay at the JW Marriott was exceptional Could not recommend strongly enough. Can’t wait to come back a big thank you to every member of the staff who was so kind and professional.

We recently stayed on 3 occasions at the JW Marriott Medan, as retreat in between our excursions to Lake Toba and Tangkahan, Gunung Leuser National Park. This luxury business hotel is a most welcome Oasis within the heart of Medan city, and I can highly recommend it as a top business hotel, or to pamper yourself in-between exploring North Sumatra.
Whilst the hotel has all facilities and amenities expected from a JW Marriott and is very well upkept and maintained, its the staff that are the true stars – they just couldn’t have been more pleasant, attentive and helpful during each and every interaction. They are some of the most genuine caring hosts I have ever encountered, and I hope the hotel’s guests will appreciate these special people equally. Whilst it is impossible to single out particular team members, I have to give special praise to Pak Pandhu, the Director of Rooms and to Pak Andika, the F&B Manager who without doubt effectively lead their associates. Kudos to the General Manager for assembling such a world-class team. Particularly outstanding was the young team at the Marriott Terrace, who provided us with a most bespoke and memorable experience, on top of all Bu Erni Yawati, the breakfast chef. What a remarkable, cheerful person, passionate about her job and guests since the opening of the hotel. She is a real treasure and role model for true hospitality. Besides our lavish breakfasts at the Marriott Terrace, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinners at Prime Steak House, Jade Chinese Restaurant and In-room Dining. Unfortunately, due to the high duties, wines are prohibitive expensive though.
A MUST if you look for a luxury cocoon, culinary experience and pampering in Medan!

I was wondering how JW Marriot after close for 3 months due to Covid, so 3rd July 2020 I decided to use their swimming pool.
The reception at the Swimming pool informed that only allow 10 peoples maximum at the pool, so when the pool ready guest can enter the swimming pool.
But i don’t see any sign mention how many people in the swimming pool.
They still do it manually.
The hotel actually can use sign which can detect people in the swimming pool due to covid like i saw in a hotel at Kirovsk, Rusia. The signboard informed how many man and woman in the swimming pool also the total number and it change automatically.
At the Ladies room, sauna, jacuzzi and steam close and only 2 shower rooms open.
There is no hair dryer at the ladies room, so I have to go to reception to ask for it.
Unfortunately the reception said the hairdryer is broken and still at engineer.
The hotel still open 3 days and do you think guest should understand that the hair dryer still in repair?
This is 5* hotel and they suppose to prepare all things before guest coming.
So, i left the reception and said will come back later for the hairdryer.
At the swimming pool, no one check whether guest using their swimming clothes or not as I saw guests using unproper head scarf, socks (can you imagine guest using their daily socks at the pool? They can use whatever it is to follow their religion but suppose use it properly. I believe there are swimming equipment for specific religion.), t-shirt, casual short.
I feel like i am not at 5* hotel which using international brand.
I feel not comfortable.
Even local 5* hotel will not allow guest to enter the pool if not using the swimming suit.

I have visited 63 countries and stayed in hotels all over the world. The staff at the Marriott hotel are by far the friendliest I have encountered anywhere. Even though this is a huge hotel, many of the staff knew me by name. And I was just staying in a normal room. I did have some interactions booking a driver, but otherwise I was impressed how many people greeted me by name and I’m not an executive club member or anything.
The breakfast is incredible and is included in the room rate. The highlight for me were the fresh juices (dragon fruit juice!) but there was so much to choose from and the menu rotated each day. I enjoyed an Indonesian massage one morning and it might have been the best massage I have ever received anywhere. The security entering the hotel is very thorough.
When eating breakfast, Pasihar advised me to download the Grab app and which attractions were the best to visit in Medan. He even gave me his WhatsApp in case I had anymore questions. I was so impressed and grateful since I was traveling solo.
The room was of good size and very clean. The air conditioning worked well. The hotel is in a good downtown location with a very large shopping mall across the street. There is a pool and a very good fitness exercise room.
Very minor annoyances we’re that the hot water was only warm, not hot. Herbal (non-caffeinated) tea is not standard in the room. I had to jiggle the button on my toilet each time to get it to stop. I couldn’t find a news channel on the TV. There is only 3 elevators, so sometimes there is a wait & they are crowded. There isn’t a good place to relax in the lobby unless you go over to either the restaurant or lounge areas. The hotel location is not good for strolling or walking (no sidewalks, traffic). The bed was strangely lumpy, but I still slept well. However these minor annoyances did not detract from my enjoyment- five stars to the JW Marriott!

Im so excited Marriot is back operational again, since Marriot is the only hotel that always been our favourite. We stayed at JW marriot medan from 6-8 july 2020. All the staff are very welcoming, happy and attentive. On my first breakfast marriot cafe team sang birthday for me, which I appreciated, unforgettable moment. The food is amazing, with the service above beyond compliance. The other morning Adjie from Marriot cafe offering me fresh squeezed Orange juice instead of the one from the buffet. I would like to mention the staff for my gratitude as their hard work and service : Icca, Roni, Ilham, Adjie, Bambang, and the staff from Prime bar ( i forgot his name) and everyone of you that I could mentioned one by one. We are defending coming back again.

I enjoyed my stay after the friendly welcome of everyone. My booking was handled professionally by Indra. Especially Charles Sigaligging was really friendly and attentive, he reckognized me as a returner guest and offered me a seat and drink in the lobby while waiting. The rooms are amazing with huge windows overlooking the town from the window between room and bathroom. A very nice feature! Breakfast was plenty and the live cooking of sauted mushrooms was very much up to my likings.
Amenities are more than complete, very enjoyable indeed!

First time visit to Medan, blind as a bat. However close friends and peers recommended to stay here for their great and unparalleled quality in their service.
I am pleased with the well trained JW Marriott team, everyone was patient and accommodating to my whims and needs. From the concierge team, to the Security team and lastly not forgetting Mr. Ilham when visiting the breakfast buffet. breakfast was served in a proper polite and hygienic way. it was a spectacular experience during my stay there for sure.
If there were any downsides, it would be ventilation of the room. Some having a moldy smell which I requested for a change of room and minor broke/faulty appliances but easily rectified.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience to stay here and would definitely return and recommend everyone to try it out. It will be worth it.

Not that I know of, I did venture out to a small temple by the traffic light and went to the supermarket across. Did not happen to see a laundromat during my walk.
I wish I can answer this question but I am only silver elite member. To be fair they have treated me well. They are just incompetent on the matter of accrediting the stays. I stay at JW Marriott Hote Medan because room is spacious and the breakfast is good. I do recommend the hotel. Its just frustrating that little things such as proper stay accreditation is of little value to them.
Often do charge is about $35 which includes breakfast for the third person.
the best option is to use the airport train. it costs about $8 . it takes about 45 minutes. the train departs every 1hour.
