We were in Medan just for a couple of nights and the Kama hotel suited our budget. Since Medan is a city full of hotels and there's always something to suit everyone's budget, I feel some of the poor reviews on Kama Hotel was unjustified. The room was clean... felt secure... beds were comfortable... bathroom clean and modern. The buffet breakfast was included in the price and it was nothing flash but pretty good for a budget hotel. Will definitely book again if we visit Medan again!

We booked a family room & the room is quite spacious with 4 beds inside. The hotel is centrally located in the middle of the city. However, I think the breakfast is a bit expensive. Actually, the breakfast is for 4 persons & we have another 2 kids. It's okay to charge us 2 more pax of kids meal for breakfast, but I think it's quite pricey and it's not a price for kids meal.

Spent one night here with a group of ladies. Comfortable room. We requested late check out i.e. at 1 pm. The main reason was to perform midday solat. The receptionist declined our request. Perhaps, the management can be more sensitive in the future. Breakfast was so-so. Convenient location to Pajak Ikan.

The rudeness of the housekeeping staff as they entered guest room without notice and permission. No safety at all as we kept some money in our currency in the room. When we brought this concern to the staff, looks like one of them is a Manager and he was quite rude and not even apologised. He told that we hung the "clean-room" card outside the door which clearly we didn't and we cant even find any of the card in the room. This is a false accusation to cover their unprofessional work ethic. It seems ok to them to enter guest room as they like. On the day we checked out, the reception even asked us to pay some money for uncertainty matter and unclear issues. Just because of that the hotel asking us to pay 2 nights extra. And they also holding our deposit. So, we just agree for them to take deposit instead and left the hotel with bitter feelings. Then only we realised that maybe the hotel policy to allow the staff to go into any guest room without the guest concern just to some kind of CHECK and find minor faulty to get some money especially from not local guests. From my own experience in travelling to many countries and myself also worked many years in hotel line, this is very unacceptable. Will never return and definitely NOT RECOMMENDED hotel. The breakfast also was very limited choices.

On arrival we were given so call "Studio Rm' which was rather nice & spacious. The setback was Rm was located on the 6th Floor. Since the elevator was only till the 5th Floor guests had to climb "Flight of Stairs' to get to 6th Floor. (See photo) even though the booking stated "2 Seniors" this was rather overlooked or ignored. My Sister had her knee surgery done climbing "flight of stairs” was rather cumbersome. After much discussion & exasperation Managment requested F ee for change of rm which we refused, We were then given to our disappointment rm with double bed even though original booking was for Twin bed .

The room was a good size, had air conditioning and a comfortable bed, and quiet too. We arrived 3 hours before check in, and they let us into our room an hour later. Location is very good, yhe tourist sites are nearby, plus a few dining options, also the train station is a 10 minute walk away. The staff member on duty in the evening was very slow at dealing with customers, it took a long time for us to request some assistance in a small matter. Breakfast was limited, no regular milk which we've encountered a few times.

This is the first time I stayed at this hotel. And it was so great. The room is very clean and comfort, even it's not really big. The breakfast was perfect. I like it. Delicious. I also love the decorations, nice. I'm going to recommend this hotel to my friend.

It is located in the heart of town, we chose this hotel with zero expectation and were completely blown away! They recently renovated and it looks so modern and beautiful now (despite it being a 11 year old hotel as told by the receptionist). The beds were clean and comfy. They would change the bedsheets and not just tuck it back in like how other hotels do. Clean, affordable and good service from the employees. Recommended!

My expectation for this hotel is very low at first, this is due to the price which is super cheap. And turns out, its a superb hotel. I stay at 6th floor (lift only until 5th floor, need walk upstairs from 5), so seems like its a new floor. Room is big and clean. Bed is comfy. Hot shower is working. Have big windows (not much to see thou). Location is great, only few minutes to airport train station and shopping mall. 2 bottle water daily provided daily. Stay there for 2 nights. Very recommended.

This hotel has a great location in the heart of Medan's old town, so make sure you don't miss the nearby colonial buildings. We found the hotel staff to friendly and helpful, and the buffet breakfast that is provided to all guests to be quite acceptable. The rooms themselves are comfortable enough but very small. The WiFi is good. Overall, this hotel is a good budget choice.
