We just returned home from Israel where we spent three nights of our trip a the Scots Hotel in Tiberias. It's a beautiful historic property with several separate stone buildings. Our room itself didn't have a view of the sea but the hotel is situated right across the street from the Galilee so every time you walk out onto the lushly landscaped grounds you can admire the view of the sea. The pool area is gorgeous as well. Across the street there is also a promenade you can walk on with some shops, etc. We stayed in the building called "Doctor's House" on the second floor. It was so pretty and sweetly decorated in accordance with the style of the time (a comfy four-poster king bed, hardwood furniture, a divan and table as well as a desk). There's a Nespresso machine in the room as well as a filtered drinking water machine that dispenses hot and cold water. The bathroom was nice and spacious. We really enjoyed the included breakfast and dinner buffet every day which was quite excellent. There was a huge variety of food and everything was delicious. The dining area was spacious and tranquil. We only encountered a larger tour group on one night of our stay. The rest of our time there we only only saw independent travelers. Even on the night that the larger group was there, it wasn't too crowded. There are three large seating areas. Service was always professional and friendly, from the front desk to housekeeping to the bellmen. Everything was as it should be. We really loved our time at The Scots. We're very glad to have stayed there as we had heard from friends that there are not very many nice hotels in the Galilee area. This one was perfect and we would definitely recommend!

Tiberias is a dump of a city but we stayed there as a jumping off point for four days of touring in the North with a private guide. We chose the Scots because it seemed to be the best option out of all the hotels. The property is beautiful, restful and peaceful. The pool is fabulous!! We stayed in a sea-view room in the Doctor's House. The room was large and so was the bathroom. However, the bed was AWFUL and extremely hard. We complained to everyone and all they could do was give us an extra bed bad, which didn't help at all. For a hotel that is expensive, it is inexcusable that they don't have memory foam toppers. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The food was better than expected (good wine list) but not great. The dining room is depressing, the music dreadful and the atmosphere does not encourage you to linger or have a leisurely meal.

This is a unique and extraordinary place. In the midst of historic Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee stands this hotel, built in the 19th century as a Christian hospital and now an elegant and lovely hotel. The rooms in either of two of the original buildings are wonderful (there is also a modern additional building with rooms). The reception, restaurants and spa are also in lovely original buildings. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. And a number of holy sites are nearby. Highly recommended if you are going to the Galilee area.

Perfect location on Sea of Galilee. Rooms very comfortable and buffet quality good. Breakfast can be crowded when it opens but give it 15 minutes and you’re fine. Separate wine cave very enjoyable. Pool is great, didn’t try the gym. Perfect place to stare at the lake and scenery and explore from.

From the arrival simple and celebrated with elegance with a cocktail, the service is amazing and every time with smiles The food is delicious from breakfast to dinner really tasty and also elegant ! The terrasse - for dinner and breakfast also - is wonderful and the long swimming pool (20 m) face to the lake is excellent to relaxe in the afternoon after cultural visits and before a sweet evening By the way, the view on the lake for the rooms located face to it is a dream !

Nice size clean room, comfortable bed, good shower. Buffet breakfast and dinners were wonderful. Staff was very professional and friendly. There was an art gallery/shop but we did not have time to stop in. We stayed two nights and for our purposes this hotel was great. I have no complaints. We were with a large group touring Israel so did not spend much time at hotel.

The Scots Hotel was a fabulous experience; we went for a special occasion and were not disappointed. The front desk, security, bar, pool, and spa employees were extremely friendly and their customer service was outstanding. The entire facility was phenomenally cared for - the only criticism, if there is one, is our room was a tiny bit "tired." The restaurant was superb and the food choices and quality of food were top notch. The spa facility was second to none and the massages we received were amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel and do hope to visit it again!

Yes. This hotel was such a find—it’s a short walk down to the water to watch the sunrise over the Sea of Galilee, the property was gorgeous and the rooms were comfortable. Tiberius is great central place for exploring the region during the day and we loved the proximity to the water. The breakfast buffet was one of the top from any trip in selection, presentation and flavors—definitely felt like restaurant quality food rather than hotel food.

So this isn’t our normal hotel we are much more four seasons or Aman. However it’s quirky, service is good and while the rooms are abit dated but perfectly fine for a couple of days. Great location with a pool, the buildings are lovely and historic, lovely to sit outside on the patio area with a few drinks. We even managed a dip in the pool.

A truly lovely, elegant gem of a place to stay in the Sea of Galilee area. The rooms, while not huge, are elegantly appointed. The restaurant is wonderful offering a wide array of delicious food and Israeli wines. The pool area is amazing overlooking the beauty of northern Israel.
