We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mango house. Being greeted with an ice cold towel after walking in the heat, having arrived by bus, was an absolute delight, not to mention the cold iced tea! Our room was lovely, comfy bed and a nice little balcony. We loved the peppermint body wash and the shampoo & conditioner, so refreshing. The...

What a great review! Thank you for taking the time to write it! We are thrilled you had a great time and enjoyed your stay at Mango House. The toiletries are all organic and and locally sourced - we try to support local suppliers as much as possible. We are a bit torn on the sky light. Most our guests...

It's clean, inviting and the staff are great. While the owners were away they had a friend fill in and she was a fantastic host. Great breakfast in their courtyard watching the monkeys play. You can't find a better location either. Wouldn't change a thing :)

My wife and I moved to this hotel after staying in another one around the corner that was awful. Mango House was the most charming place we stayed in Sri Lanka. It's is beautifully and tastefully decorated, the rooms are not very big, but big enough. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good and everything was very clean....

I honestly don’t understand how this place got such a good score!! It is not worth it!! It is a glorified guesthouse at best, despite called itself a boutique hotel. The rooms are tiny (3m5x3m5), a dirty bathroom, with towels that are smell bad!!! The room/bathroom are so humid that nothing can dry (i.e. towels). There’s no fridge, the tv...

My husband and I stayed at Mango House at the end of our trip to Sri Lanka and we really enjoyed it, the rooms are quit small but very luminous and clean, the bed was really comfortable. It is very well located and the srilankan breakfast is very good.

Thank you for your great review! Apart from English and Continental breakfasts, we also, as you mentioned, serve our special Sri Lankan breakfast chilli omelette - not for the faint hearted! We are happy you enjoyed it! It was lovely having you stay and hope to welcome you back if you make your way to Sri Lanka again!

Thank you so much for this great review! We are happy you and your family enjoyed yourselves here - it was a pleasure having you stay! Children seem to love the loft in the Family Room - a sort of private kingdom under the mozzie net I guess :) We would be thrilled to welcome you back another time!

Fantastic house full of character with a walled garden that inspires authors and painters alike. Although all the details are authentically Sri Lankan, there is definitely a British influence in the management, meaning that the hotel feels incredibly comfortable and accomodating. And the breakfasts were amazing.

Me and my partner both loved our stay here. Upon arrival we were offered a refreshing iced tea and a cold towel before being shown to our rooms. What a lovely review - thank you so much for that! We are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Staff really friendly and helpful with all our requests and lovely breakfast. Highlight were the mango throwing monkeys in the lovely garden Kids loved the family room. Would come back next time. Recommend a short hop to jungle beach when heat of the day hits. We loved our stay here as in rest of island!

Thank you so much for this nice review! Ah the monkeys! Although they are endangered (they are purple-faced langurs, endemic to Sri Lanka) and we secretly feel deeply privileged they come to visit us - we recognise that they get up to some monkey business... throwing mangos is a new one! We would be more than happy to welcome you...

Located within the historic Galle Fort, UNESCO Heritage Site, the aptly named Mango House opens to a beautiful garden shaded by two mango trees. The sitting/breakfast area is bright and colorful and welcoming. It is indeed charming as are the people. The Courtyard room we stayed was rather small, with little room around the king size bed. Thank you very much for taking the time to review us! We are happy you chose to stay with us, albeit during the nationwide power cuts. The circumstances of these power cuts are still not entirely clear, but they were definitely a great inconvenience to all. We do not, as you mention, have a back-up generator.
