I had read good things about the Fort Dew Guesthouse and it lived up to the reviews. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable with good aircon. The rooftop cafe/bar/restaurant is the showpiece - lovely views of the ramparts and the ground within the walls, and it catches every breeze that blows through (a must-have in the heat and humidity... I've eaten a lot of curry during our holiday in SL and my chicken curry with rice plus 5 other curry dishes here was easily the best. The sensitivity of the spice mix and the quality of the ingredients made for the best of eating. Sitting on the 2nd floor terrace which in daylight would have been overlooking the sea... More

This is a small guest house (only 4 rooms) in a quieter location within the old town of Galle. It has a great aspect, looking west towards the fort walls: very handy for watching the locals play cricket in the early morning/evening and of course for the sun set. Rooms are basic, furnished quite traditionally with "old fashioned" beds and... More

I stayed in this beautiful small guest house for 2 nights. Great location in the calm security of the Fort Galle. Only 5 rooms that are basic, comfortable, air con with ceiling fan as well as mosquito nets. Sit on the small balcony looking over park to the rampart onto the ocean. Excellent people watching, including the neighbouring Monks, with... More

We stay at the Fort Dew when we need a place to stay for the night in Galle. The few rooms are large enough, clean and air-conditioned and not expensive at all. The location is very handy - a short walk from all the attractions of the Fort - but is at the edge of the Fort and so is... More

One of the best restaurants I have found in Galle, is Fort Dew Guest hose in Galle fort. The restaurant is located in the second floor. With the fresh cool breeze from Indian Ocean cools down your tiredness. They prepare all foods freshly then and there upon your order. No food is being kept prepared. It will take around 30... More

We stayed on the first floor with a roofed balcony on the gallery in front of our room. We had a free view on the ramparts. Fort Dew has a very friendly and cooperative host and serves good chop soy sea food. We've had a wonderful stay at this small authentic guesthouse.

Location is great and the view from the balconies outside the rooms and from upstairs in the eating area is nice (ocean). The room was clean and organised when I arrived but room service of clean towels and made beds, etc in between nights was not provided which was disappointing! Food was ok but only ate breakfast there. Manager was... More

Comfortable rooms with a great view of the fort walls. Some rooms have a private balcony. The rooftop restaurant serves good food and drinks at reasonable prices. It is a really pleasant place to chill in between exploring the area even if you are not staying at the guest house.

A lovely run family business with exceptional staff. Our host Nish was a lovely chap who met us with a warm welcome and showed us our room with a balcony overlooking the fort with a view of the temple and sunset over the sea. (Stunning) The room was spotless, mosquitoe net provided, good air con and fan. Good shower room... More
